Hey respect for giving it a shot. May I ask why you wouldn't choose to relocate for this year to somewhere where the cost of living is a lot cheaper and you can find new experiences that you could also vlog? Come to Australia there's plenty of hospitals that pay overtime or locum rates and if you're over hospital medicine then try to work in an outpatient role or something different like an urgent care center. I think you can do it, think of how long it takes to get going in medicine. Your only just starting. Try arrange some collabs with other yt doctor channels
This is really sad to watch. You & other young doctors are so important to our society and yet you are paid below minimum wage = Ridiculous. Do you have a shortage of doctors in New Zealand? I am in BC, Canada and we have shortage. Our family doctors just got a raise from $CAD 250,000 to 385,000 (gross of expenses & taxes) to be competitive. Thank you for sharing Eunice. Our senior medical officers (consultants) had a strike last week to get a raise. Are you a doctor in Canada? How are the juniors treated there?

hello! Thank you for leaving a comment. No, first year doctor here is a resident. General practitioner is a specialist. Locum doctor is one that does not have a permanent contract to the hospital and can pick up shifts at any hospital at an increased pay due to flexibility to fill gaps. Hope that helps.

Hello! Yes, it’s frowned upon to claim overtime as everyone else including your seniors probably worked overtime too… It’ll give you a “bad rep” and it’s unlikely to get approved either. Hope that clears it up! Are you in medicine too?

Hey, this isn’t actually true everywhere, this is a reflection of poor workforce culture. In my state in Australia hospitals have been taken to court over this issue of unpaid overtime and a few are in the process of being actively sued. It is also specialty and service dependent. So please don’t say this as though this is the case everywhere and accept it as we need to continue to positively resist and model a healthier workforce culture for our juniors.
