    Thanks for the video, I just want to be clarified on the pathway to work I’m New Zealand as an IMG. Recently heard there’s been an adjustment to the pathway, that after writing PLAB 1 and 2, and having GMC registration without any UK working experience, you necessarily don’t have to write NZRex to get a PGY1 job in New Zealand. I want to know if it’s true

    It’s so kind of you to be so considerate about imgs. Thank you so much for the much needed information. I am currently preparing for Plab exams. If I come to newzeland , hope to see you there. All the best for your future.

    Hey Eunice, great video. I know this is still a bit too early to think about, but I'm asking purely out of curiosity: I'm currently a medical student at UoA (domestic nz student) and was wondering if getting into specialty training programmes are generally equally competitive in both countries. ie: would you say there are any situations where it would be wise to move to Aus or stay here (before entering a training programme) if you intend to pursue a particular specialty?
    Thanks.

      Hmmm I’m not the best person to ask this as I haven’t worked in Australia and am also wondering about this question. I may move to Australia soon so hopefully I could talk about it in later videos

    For a Malaysian doctor like where you came from, this video definitely motivate me to look more into working as a doctor in Aus/NZ, definitely long working hours and shift make me exhausted all the time. Thank you for making this video!

      I used to work in KKM for the past 4 years. Started work in New Zealand 2 months back and have absolutely no regrets. No toxic bosses/seniors, go home on time, and overall much much better work environment.

      I am working in Penang, but a district hospital called Hospital Bukit Mertajam! Entering to Nz system is a lil more difficult as compared to Aus. Just register for the exam in Oct, wish me luck! :), and your video is the reason i register for the exam!!

    Hi Doc Eunice! Thank you so much for this video. I'm an Internal Medicine graduate here in the Philippines and have considered working in New Zealand because my brother is there as well. Do you have any recommendations that could help in migrating there? Thank you so much in advance for your help. God bless!

    I had a doubt. I am an IMG. I got the opportunity to work as a GP in rural. They told me I have to work for 2 years to get registered with the New Zealand medical council. Can I apply for physician training after 2 years ?

    • @eunjint
      @eunjint  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s great! Yes I think you could, you’ll also have to look at getting permanent residency first

      @@eunjint The issue is I have only worked as a GP in India and I possess full GMC registration after passing PLAB 1 and 2.
      Not sure under which route they will get me medical council registration

    Well done on the video 🎉 I’ve worked both the NZ and AUS healthcare system now and have a few extra points to add on/share:
    1. I would say that New Zealand the general rule is that overtime pay generally isn’t given especially in NRA, and that any overtime you do is the sake of finishing your duties.
    2. The work life balance and pay is objectively better in Australia if not near the best in the world. But subjectively that will depend on a lot of variables e.g team, speciality, hospital etc.
    3. Competition for specialities seems to be harder in Australia, even for BPT.
    4. Live the life you want indeed! There is no straightforward career pathway for everyone and this is ever so evident in the international waters.
