Doesn't seem unreasonable since it's this LL's gimmick, it's kind of limited to whatever he's currently attacking, and relies on time limited abilities. And there's a couple hard counters. Way less cheesy than vampire trait stacking, at least.
It also seems to require a very precise set of actions, rear attack + spell, and immunity to psychology can be an easy wrench in the works for units like Lizardmen and Dwarfs.
I agree azazel is much much much more balanced than most of the other lords in the game Breaking leadership is super awesome against daemons and undead though. Getting to erase someone like that is fun
Vampire armies fckn suuuuck though only their LL and heroes swing dick and some monsters too but leave em alone for a second and they crumble so it's pointless you can't use em as sledgehammers alone
It's a neat ability for entering a fort, I guess, but as far as utility goes, you are wasting a spell plus a 2min cool down ability to remove a single unit, where a flaming skull spell could have removed several. Of course it would also require the efficient use of the other troops to pull off, but it doesn't sound that powerful to me. I do admit that creating a hole in enemy formation to allow for flanker to do their job is nice.
And don't forget, you can give an army the gift of slaanesh for another -8 leadership when fighting your army and the seduction bonus. Spreading gifts and getting the research that gives you 50 souls per turn, PER gift, is actually insane. I basically diplomacy'd the entire northern landmass with norsca and wintertooth, then when the dark elves inevitably invaded from across the sea I was able to mark 3 of their armies and force a vassalage. Suddenly I owned 90% of the chaos wastes and tripled my vassal tributes, and my vassals were actually starting to take land from my enemies like Kislev. LOVE this faction.
They nailed immortal empires. I was a bit worried about campaign performance but it runs better than before. Runs really smooth in fact. For whatever reason
@@voyager9959 I think it's less to do with heavy lifting and more to do with focus. It's true the DLC added in a lot of stuff, but it's still incomparable to the content of the base game. More time and focus can be given to individual issues when you're not having to develop core content
Makes sense considering how fragile Azazel is as a tradeoff. I haven't used him yet, but I fought him a few times while playing Kislev in Immortal Empires and I was surprised at how he just melts against focus fire missile attacks. I wasn't even using any Ice Guards, just basic Kossars and he died in seconds.
Well that's kind of the theme with Slaneesh they have pretty much no durability if you are able focus them with spells or ranged but allow them to get to melee on their own terms and it's typically bye bye to your army.
@@SampoPaalanen My big problem is with the Daemonettes and Seekers being level 3. You would think that the counter to Seekers is the Lothern Sea Guard with Shields. But charge a line of Seekers into Sea Guard head on (their supposed counter) and also level 3, and it isn't even close. What are you supposed to counter these things with? Same with the Daemonettes, they lose 1 unit, but as soon as 1 spear unit starts to break, it is all over. Giving units in tier 3, multiple abilities that are usually handed out singly to units in tier 4&5 is silly.
He's pretty fragile yea, 5 armour as is tradition for slaanesh, if he gets hit it is going to hurt. However he is so mobile and powerful that it balances out so long as you don't let him get trapped or have him trying to solo anchor units without using his magic/debuffs. Works well with the new slaaneshi chaos warriors and chosen, they are a nice resilient anvil for him to hammer into, hell the marauders are decent too with their immune to psych from the mark of slaanesh.
was the first lord of chaos i tried from the dlc at about 10 turns in iv got most of norsca vassalized and when i fight a fight its 90% of the time a win with low casultiies on auto resolve and if i fight the battle he scares half the people to d eath then assasinates their leader and fights over and that's on very hard so on lower difficulties i imagine he carpet rolls everyone near him early
theoretically you can kind of do this with the vampires too. Fear- Rear Attack Bats/wolves- Isabella Time of Arising- Vlad Mesmerizing Aura- Vampire Trait Dread Incarnate- Spell Dooming Darkness. Probably more complex then Azazle (-64) but Vampires are at -72 before Terror. Going to have to mess with it. I use Dooming Darkness in campaign pretty often, but never tried to line them all up on something Tough. Normally if you have vlad hitting something it dies anyway. With half Vampire Hero/ half Flying unit stacks.. you can normally glob stuff up and Vortex it to death for the Mana.... then call down your flying stuff to kill chase down stray units. Bats btw have a ton of Mele defense now...
I like sending Azazel with my cav at the start. This combo plus a cav charge into the immobilised enemy and you’ve won the cav fight before infantry lines have even engaged. Then you chaos knights and hellstriders are free to roam the back lines unabated. Very fun!
If you really looking for overloading on LD penalties, you can also bring the withering on shadow casters, which adds another -8 LD on top of it for 40 seconds.
I remember seeing Boris Todbringer + a death caster in the past. Azazel makes it smoother since it's packed into a single character and I think the Boris combo is also lowering the LD by 4 less than Azazel. Good video!
::teleports behind you right after a waking nightmare:: Look, I've been on the internet long enough to know where this is going and I want no part of it.
The dwarves you showed at 0.48 actually did manage to not route. But they retreated anyway, close to routing but no route flag. They did go -2 for half a second but there was no retreat flag. I think they where terror routing instead which is brief.
So basically a slightly stronger single target version of the vampires AOE leadership bomb combo of fear, the withering, and doom and darkness. Then use a unit of bats, vargheists, or flying lord to get the rear charge penalty to kick in.
you can also do this with Malus. Take a Death Sorceress and a Kharybdis with Malius and he can rout almost every army. if you take the ror Medusa for even more LS debuff
I love that CA is making the Daemon Princes and Greater daemons wrecking balls....They SHOULD be the nastiest thing in the setting, and they are doing a great job of portraying them as such.....
I know I always cheesed in 2 using lore of death to give -leader ship to undead to give them disintegrate or make it faster. Turns out they went for it and wanted to make it disgusting.
phantasmagoria is a very pretty spell does anyone know why marauders on steeds of slaanesh have soulhunter but demons dont since the flavor text seems to indicate they get it from the mount kindof weird if they rout without being able to move do they still take the full extra charge bonus when attacked as if they where running away?
I think the only race that you can’t do this is kislev because of the buy our blood, and if you play immortal empire the first human race you will face is kislev
Does the slannesh variant of the soul grinder have a ranged attack? Because you could use that to quickly target the same unit for a further LD debuff from being 'under artillery fire', don't even have to fire as the arty LD debuff applies the moment the unit is targeted, for uh, reasons. Top secret CA reasons.
Also WHY THE F**CKKK DOESNT ANY LORD HAVE TELEPORT IN BATTLE YET!? WTFFFFFFF I really want to swoop Tzeentch into battle and bring down a comet on his head as the enemy attempts to swamp him with their strongest units only to have him teleport a couple hundred meters away
thankfully Kislev and Cathay now have access to the worst Dwarf Slayer to have ever lived (and failed to die) so Cathay can deal with him in RoC and Kislev can deal with him in IE.
i am not really fond of this faction. It's too micro heavy, azazel gets stuck all the time, converting using influence took too long and i couldn't afford it either. Khorne is so much simpler and more effective.
The new races, particularly the demons are ridiculously OP in immortal empires. The Order factions are very very weak. In particular the demons seem to get level 3 and 4 units 20-30 turns before the old world Order factions can get their hands on anything to touch them. You line up your high elves or dwarves, even corner camping and dwarf warriors and elf spearmen break in 10 seconds against them, even on normal difficulty. They labelled Immortal Empires a Beta for good reason. A massive amount of rebalancing is required for the average player to enjoy the game. Every since Warhammer 1, the Chaos races have never been weak, I think because they are less played, the developers think they should be made more powerful, but strength isn't why people play factions. All they are doing is making the game less fun for more people. I was really hoping the "Chaos Tide" that stopped me playing Warhammer2 would be fixed in Warhammer3, but it is worse than ever.
It is not. It may grant you the ability to remove a single unit fully if all conditions are perfect, otherwise you may end with your LL under focus fire by missiles, spells, etc. You're ignoring a whole lot of factors in MP, but in SP you ought to be fine.
"he'll do disgustingly weird things to you from behind" is the perfect way of putting it, well played!

I've seen improvements to the Chaos Rifts campaign as well. Seems the DLC team does most of the heavy lifting after all.
I would like it if I could find the climate list in the faction selector because the initial load is pretty long for me.

Azazel himself probably also causes the "Stronger and faster enemies nearby" debuff, which means even more Leadership Decrease on the targeted unit.
