Depending on who you play you need to rush. The Golden Order can rush down Sylvannia completely by turn 10, in turn giving you an Option to attack Drycha and Azhag early. After securing the east your economy is strong enough to challenge the nurglites with two stacks at least. All of this achieved with mostly huntsmarshal archer spam and Gelts starting roster. Sylvannia can also be a good late early game recruitment center. For money raid Caravans whenever possible and then... you will still be fucked in the late Game
That was obsolete even back during TWW1. The Empire was a very easy start.... Before wood elves, Beastmen and the upgraded Norscan faction came about. You rushed Marienburg, Bretonnia secured your flank or you could just take out the isolated orc settlements , take out the Vampires at your ease and then slowly fortify for Chaos. Or invade Kislev and fortify there(and also, the whole of Kislev was habitable. In return, the mountains were not able to be settled by you. ) When Beastmen and Wood Elves came, the Empire became hard. When Skarsnik and the reskinned Orcs, it became very hard. Add in Grom and well..... Thankfully wood elves stopped being so hardcore aggressive and remained in the woods unless they were dyrads. Not to mention, Norscan DLC meant Norscans were no longer pussies that you crushed with ease. A marauder based army with warhounds and chariots was just..... Absurdly outmatched.

Hard agree. I’ve done Gelt and Wulfhart campaigns so far and Gelt is my toughest campaign ever with Wulfhart being a pretty close second. Even Dwarfs aren’t all that bad compared to them despite so many people claiming they’re in desperate need of a rework.
I love the vanilla flavored factions. I don't like playing as monsters, I like slaying them. The Empire will always be my faction. These guys are the Space Marines of Sigmar.

So if thats my take after 3 years. I couldnt imagine the learning curve youd have had after 10 or so years😅 in a game series where if you miss one or two its like shit how do i play again😅😅😁😁
Note on the Tattersouls and Flagellants: Both have effectively 10 extra melee attack and 10% more damage and charge bonus compared to what the unit card shows. That's because they have Frenzy, and unbreakable means they will never lose the bonus from it.
I barely gotten into warhammer 3 and my main reason why i wanted to play empire is because of that STEAM TANK! i love the fact that it causes terror meaning most races can't comprehend the technology advances of mankind! ❤🤠
They’re an interesting faction, but easily the weakest I’ve ever played so far. Being a jack of all trades makes them a master of none and I think their lack of any particular signature strength is a major liability for their functionality. That and the fact that their actually good mid to late game units take far too long to acquire imo meaning you’re stuck with their largely trash early game units far too long for my personal taste.
Great video! I am struggling with Gelt vs vamps. I'm trying to hold with a front line of spears/swords so my ranged can be effective but they swoop over with vargheists, vamp heroes and bats and before I know it my brave soldiers are broken and running and I just get swamped.
Two ways to deal with that: 1. Focus fire on the fliers first as they come in. Anything bigger than bats warrants having a great cannon pointed at it, too. 2. Keep a unit or two of Spearmen or Halbediers in reserve behind your missile line to intervene and free up your missile units. VC infantry are fairly trash, so your frontline can last for a while as long as you keep leadership up. Use that to kill the high-threat stuff - fliers, cavalry and monsters - first.
Even if they never make Toddy a full on LL it’d be great if they could at least give him some passive specifically targeting Empire Knights and Witch Hunters to further expand Middenland’s unique aspects.
They did some minor touch ups for the older factions, mostly due to the lighting system changes. But the models for all the TWW games have all been really top notch
For those with the Elspeth DLC, swap out the Steam Tank and Luminark with Landships, replace the two Helstorm Rockets with their Amethyst versions, replace Halberdiers with the Volley Gun variant of the Steam Tanks, replace Greatswords and Handgunners with Nuln Ironsides and replace Huntsmen with Hochland Long Rifles The DLC upgrades the Empire into a WW1 era army
There is a mod for it mind you, a nice high tier Reiksguard collection of units. But I find it odd that there are no monstrous griffi based units or Pegasus cav in the base game. Like they exist in game but they did not do more with them.
C'mon this faction could have the gryphons with wings as the unique monsters unit. I don't know if has too much sense that Karl Franz is the only one that as one flying gryphon.
Yeah. Flagellants are there just to die so your ranged units can kill them. Since Greatswords cost too much to be spammed just as a tank. Although arguably state troops Sigmar sons can be a good enough replacement for flagellants.
Alternatively, you doomstack tanks, or you doomstack hellstorm batteries with either some demigriph knights or greatswords and huntsmen to defend them and call it a day.
Sadly, from my experience, Empire army is one of the weakest late game, in its full potential, compared to what other races can field late game. That's probably the only race with which I cannot create 'ultimate army' that steamrolls any AI stacks. Their roster needs serious rework, it's simply outdated, with all of new races that were added after game1.
Soviet rocket batteries are still strong and you can use almost any magic lore they are more than fine in terms of military what fucks them over is their unique campaign mechanic because most elector counts are being wiped out early by AI

Empire footmen on this level would be highly proffesional career soldiers with many years of training and combat experience on their resumè. Hiring youngbloods to fight orcs would just be a waste of a good labour force.
Boris was basically the endboss of the Beastman DLC back in TW1, so they gave him a unique model and made him a diet legendary lord - he's an Empire General with slightly better stats and his Runefang, and starts immortal on the campaign map.
I saw lots of Empire army guide, this one included. Everything they tell isn't right. Empire isn't have overall troops and lack some monsters and air. Empire have a shit infantry, a shit cavalry and no monsters. What they really have is really great artillery, access to gunpowder infantry (not great, but at least they have it) and gunpowder cavalry. They have a very decent spear line and infantry, that good against spear line or other units that are shit in melee... which can be killed by any missile or gunpowder units more effectively. And they have access to some of the strongest schools of magic. So generic spears, shit infantry, decent but slow cavalry, decent gunpowder infantry, great gunpowder cavalry, really great artillery and good magic.
The Sootson Mortars also don't cause any damage to friendly units. Basically you can pepper your entire frontline without losing any soldier :).

They don't cause friendly EXPLOSION damage, direct hit still has FF.
CA say the Empire is a good starting campaign. I struggle the most with them. Not a single other campaign ive played was that hard.
