For me, the ideas in th-cam.com/users/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

Thank you so much! Wish I found this long ago, I would have finished the work without being terrified. Of the many videos I’ve seen, yours is perfect and you explained everything, every question I had, you really don’t know how grateful I am. May you be blessed!

Your chalk line will not work and you neglect to mention it. The nailing flange of the F would cover the line and you would not be able to see it to put you F on it. You have to level across the fascia then come down the height of your F THEN snap your line. That gives you a line to put your F on.

Awesome! Your videos are so detailed with great video. Thank you for the modern technology of How-To. It really helps people like myself who have knowledge, but not all of it. It's really appreciated!!! So cool. All of your video building segments are perfect to compare with methods that I use... Thanks for taking all of your time & effort for sharing. Getting ready to build a 12x16 shed this Spring/Summer & your videos have me confident with details I needed references too, especially the soffits. Never did soffits before & your video is worth commendation. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! God Bless America!!!

Shouldn't you lower your f channel line the thickness of the soffit before chalking line? The soffit is gonna sit lower than your framing if it's ribbed

great so far but you should use a slot tool to open top of f and also back screws out 1/8th to have space for expansion and contraction. always leave room for that on any plastic or metal

I love these videos, I always see the siding done after the soffit, is it ever done opposite and if so how is the bird box detail accomplished?
also, what brand of f channel are you using, Ive never seen that wide stuff before and would like to find some

What’s the difference between using the truss square marking your line and chalking vs using a level dropping for example 5/8 the width of the F channel and marking it then chalking it? I learned using the level and dropping the width then chalking it and putting the F channel on the line that dropped

I do not see a video installing the soffit running up the gabel end! I would like to know how you ended the soffit pcs at the peak? Did you just screw a pc of F-channel 90deg to the building? Then another one so the were back to back?

Can't see what part of the channel is lined up to the chalk line...is it the top oh the F or the bottom of the nail flange?

Not sure if this is different for aluminum, but what's the reason for not installing another f-channel on the underside of the sub fascia? I've done vinyl once and thought that was supposed to be how you did it. Is it one of those things where you can do either or? If you are using vinyl fascia, you need the f-channel on the underside of the sub fascia so that the bottom lip can hook in to the f-channel, correct?

Hi there. Learned a lot from these videos. But I'm stumped. The soffit F channel is pretty thin in this example however I'm using the plastic F channel and it is quite thick and if I install it on the chalk line, the soffit panels slope down toward the sub fascia board. Its a Mitten product. I've tried to drop the elevation of the F channel but that interferes with the aluminum fascia when I bend it around the front. I know there's a 1000 people that know the answer! Please help!

Troy L I agree with you. Taking a square and marking a line on the wall will cause the chalk line to be at the same level as the fascia board. I believe you the have to lower your F channel by 1/2" i think is what it is. In any event, it should be the thickness of the fascia. If not, the bottom of the F channel is level with the fascia and that would cause it to run down hill by the thickness of the fascia. I have watched several videos, and everyone of them have screwed this up. The solution is to lower your F channel below the line by the thickness of the soffit. Good luck. I am about to put up nearly 400 feet and I hope what I am telling you is correct.. lol

I have been an installer of aluminium products for over 15 years so I can tell you a trick to help with that. On all wood frame houses you want to show your level line to bottom of the j-channel. So whatever the slot of the j-channel usually 1/2 is where you want to make your line so it lines up with the bottom of j channel not top

    • @JohnJones-vo4ej

Block homes is different because you usually nail a freeze 1x2 up to nail the channel too. In this case to want it level with fascia board so when you attach channel everything turns out level. It's kinda hard to describe but I think you will get the just of it when you are installing it.

Every time I try to cut the flange off my f channel the channel itself opens up and is completely useless.

What I am seeing is that you are not using F trim but rather J trim. You cannot install F trim the way you are doing it.

    • @james-yc4jx
      @james-yc4jx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

he is not using j trim as you say. He is using f channel (trim) and it is installed as demonstrated in the video with the exception that he should have made an adjustment to chalkline to allow for the thickness of soffit material.
