Metal Gear Solid 1 Cyborg Ninja Boss Battle PSX PS1 Playstation 4k 1080 MGS
Almost every line Gray Fox speaks in this scene is etched into my memory. I've been waiting for this pain! What a great performance.
Well said, doubly so when the performance in Twin Snakes was so poor.
Me too, lines like.
Only a fool trust his life to a weapon
I will kill you, or you will kill me, it makes no diference
Not a enemy nor a friend, I come back from a world where such words are meaningless
Played this game as a kid and I remember this boss the most. Psycho Mantis is a close second and that Raven dude is third
@@James-ip5gz the shamen with the mini gun strapped to his back. Raven. Ninja was my most memorable. Him and wolf. Etched in my memory
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective You gotta admit, Gray Fox did sound pretty terrifying in that game.
"I've been waiting for this pain..." "Hurt me more..." Fifty shades of Grey Fox
Lol
Welp.... he ain't calling himself deepthroat on the codec for nothing.....
haha. sweet
Lmfao
Sychkid you gayyyyyyyyy
Ninja:
- Where is my friend?
Also him literally seconds later:
- Friend and enemy are meaningless words.
Why did you have to bring logic where it belongs? Lol
What a hypocrite
"Neither enemy, nor friend"
well he is a revived half dead corpse and mentally unstable at the time
He’s a cyborg ninja having seizures. What do you expect?
“It’s like one of my Japanese animes...”
Ghost in the shell... 😉
Ugh! Wtf are you talking about? Im talking about piss and shit, and youre over here talking about some Japanese shit i dont give a FUCK about!
And then Otacon realizes he's not on the side of the heroes.
He's more like, in the Tokusatsu-villain group.
weeb bros...not like this...
This scene captivated me as a child.
23 years later and it’s still my favourite.
"Alone? ... Are you an otaku too?"
Otacon is a fucking legend
I remember playing this at my grandmother's in her spare room when I was about 9. Now I can beat this game in a weekend but the nostalgia still hits heavy
Right! I'm not even sure if I beat this game, but I got past grey fox, I was like 6 or 7 years old lol, thought I was the king after that
You can beat it in like 5 hours dude lol
@nuko_giko6638 I beat it in less and I was only 10 when I played it for the for the first time
@@christophercarlisle7887damn dude you are the best, we have to hide our girls when you are in town
@@Atilla33 okay seriously I wasn't trying to be a damn hotshot bad ass... I was literally stating a fact, the game can be beat in a couple hours, think the fastest playthrough I ever saw someone do was bout 4 hours 🤷
*"Now, make me feel it! Make me feel alive again"*
Such a cool line perfectly delivered. It has been etched into my brain for over 20 years
"Only a FOOL trusts his life to a weapon." power statement right there
Unless you fight on Extreme...
No, not really because unarmed combatants are vulnerable to both death and deceptive enemies and yes, all enemies are deceptive.
Not much so when it comes from a guy in a cyborg frame who also uses Optical Camo.
@@BenersantheBread I think Gray Fox was refferring to not use weapons on hand.
It would be if he didn't start using his fucking sword right after saying it. Fucking prick.
After playing Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, this scene hits so hard
It's a tough battle fighting Fox in the minefield. Played them all as a kid to now. It still resonates with me.
"Perfect place for our final battle, eh Snake?"
It is but grey fox never forget that battle just his memory was controlled with drugs and drugs helped y he was in the exoskeleton y he goes so manic when snake remembers him
"Hand to hand, is the basis of all combat, only a fool trusts his life to a weapon"
That line has been living rent free in my head for a long time now
I remember being scared as a kid playing this game everyday I’d come home from school it was a new adventure ..nostalgia
Fox's voice sounds better here
Agree, I love the Twin Snakes, but Grey Fox's voice is better in the original MGS
The voice talent of Greg eagles
So true that's Greg Eagles for ya he simply put has a haunting voice ;)
@@navylaks2 Kaneto Shiozawa's Gray Fox is just as good.
R.I.P. Kaneto Shiozawa
@@navylaks2 Yeah also as the DARPA chief
2023 and it's my first time playing this...And it's one of the best games I played in my life, really enjoying the experience!
I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! If you haven't played the sequels, I recommend you do!
Me too currently, this shits mad hard 😂 or I’m just ass
one of the best boss fights ever, so memorable
Love your profile pic bro
'niether enemy or friend . i am back from a place where such things are meaningless '
Yea but he ruined it using cheap tricks like chaff g and thermal
@@jesus6976 countless retries
8:43 - The music gives me chills. Amazing!
Jesus way to add tension, switching from rations to thermal goggles lol was screaming at TV for you to use a ration 😅
That's feeling I remember. The clashing of bone and sinew.
What a fucking clasdic man. To this day in June 2023 I still play it.
i realized that the player wanted it to be a fair fight, so he didnt use any of his rations until 05:45, when he realized he's gonna be dead
I think the ration heals automatically?
If you set ration into your inventory, Snake uses automatic when his life depleted entirely
@@James-ip5gz yes it's auto. but he didn't pull out his rations until he is about to die
@@acharndael9159 he pulled it out immediately after he took damage, not right before he died
To be fair, Cyborg was using stealth camo playing hide and seek
Also, teleporting
"It looks like they were cut by some type of blade......"
No shit.
I think I’m the only one that never used chaff grenades/thermal goggles and just learnt every spot he was in for the amount I played this game. Loved this fight, it was amazing!
Same! I didn't even think to use them.
How is this fight amazing?? It‘s boring as fuck
I actually missed the thermal goggles, and never bothered to go back for them. Throughout the fight, I never touched the right trigger, purely out of respect.
I used the chaff grenades in the very beginning when I fought him but kept dying. I found it easier and beat him the first time of not using those damn grenades
I love the fact that GrayFox changes colors based on how well you played before encountering him. The lighter orange he is like in this clip the easier he is. The darker red version of him is tougher to fight. That's some crazy mechanics for a 1998 PS1 game.
The best part of this sequence, for me, is when we get a very subtle exposure of Naomi's core anxiety. She has a nagging feeling snake killed her brother. She can never really trust him 100%
This battle was like my greatest gaming memory as a kid on the playstation I was like 6 or 7 years.
You're that ninja...
I've been waiting for you, Snake.
Who are you!?
@@JeeJ0LeeL Neither enemy nor friend. I am back from a world where such words are meaningless...
i've removed all obstacles.
now, you and i will battle to the death.
Grey Fox has such amazing character design. He is undeniably futuristic looking.
WOW!! I was today years old when I found out you can use the chaff grenades against the Grey Fox!!
I thought I'll skip this video but I learned something new today too. 22 years and this game still has got something I didn't know about.
C'mon guys? He's in a cybernetic exoskeleton of course chaff works lol. It's all good y'all so long as you win it's fine
"I'm alone" - snake "are you an otaku too?" - otacon
I first played this in 1998 when I was 15. I learned a lot about anime from this game lol
When I played this a a kid I was like "Wut? Is that some native american stuff?"
Octocon saying Japan is the best in robotics lol Kojima be flexing on us americans haha
@@DEVeloper_ACEHe wasn't wrong. I believe they had at least one Gundam built to scale in 98? Maybe it was later but they definitely have some giant semi-working bipedal robots in Japan. Not used for any military purposes (as far as we know) just tourist attractions.
So he moved around with pissed pants lol
I suppose my wet pants wouldnt be the no. 1 subject if I were hunted by blade wielding ninjas and terrorists either 🤷♂️
Better voice acting and ost than the remake.
*Returns from a world where words such as friend and enemy are meaningless* "Where is my friend?"
Woah i didn't think of that.
calls him his friend then says he wants to fight to the death. that kinda backs up his statement about friend being meaningless
Y’all forgot about the dialog during Snake’s torture event. That he calls Gray Fox his friend, even though they were on opposite sides during Zanzibar (Metal Gear 2). Even though Snake killed him, he also said that war isn’t a reason to end an friendship.
make me feel it make me feel alive again
Best version of MGS!!!!
I didn't know Gray Fox was voiced by Rob Paulsen. That guy's a legend. Also, why does Snake sit like a sassy gay man at 13:37? lol
That scene in the hallway was the stuff of nightmares as a kid.
Wasn't Dr. Clark, who died in the lab explosion, while experimenting on Gray Fox, ParaMedic?
Yes, but that fact wasn't established until MGS4 in 2008.
She didn't died an explosion, she was killed by Grey Fox and covered up by Naomi.
Very small world.
@@R3SerialDreams2 It goes to show that they didn't plan everything from the beginning.
kojima was just making shit up as he went along. i love the guy but it's the truth
the only 2 perfect games i ever played were this and final fantasy 7. legendary both of them. ill never forget them as long as i live. even though ive not touched a computer in years
Why you no touchy computer?
Ahh i forgot about the days where speaking was done with the neck lol.
Hey these graphics were unbelievably incredible for the Ps1 in 1998. No game in that time had graphics that beat MGS1 not to mention the mechanics were so far ahead of it's time.
The “I’m losing myself” is such a terrifying line. Fox is losing his humanity only to become a tool of the government.
I never realized this is the one boss fight that plays "Encounter" instead of the "Dual" music.
I remember this fight at 10 Years old after making it to the hall full of body's. then seeing dude go thru the door. It was more nostalgia than my 10 year old self coould handle. First time I was like oh shit am I fighting him. This is gonna be epic, between this and the chopper fight. Pure nostalgia. I can quote this game 😄😄
I love the ninjas strange, electrical noises. It's a mixture of nonsensical creepy gibberish and a failing mech suit.
The Double Disc Classic, Every Boss Fight was special!!
And this is why MGS is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Twin Snakes, the whole game is a masterpiece, I love this scene so so much, I need to thank you so much for this
I just realize md that this fight is the only boss fight with the “alert” music and not the “duel” music 😮
Cause it's Gray Fox. An old friend, not a FoxHound member like all the rest of the bosses. Even though after we defeat all of them, we kinda become friends right before they die lol.
rewatching this after beating the game and seeing naomi's eyes twitching while talking about gray fox is heartbreaking
They need to remake this, same voice actors, same lines.... totally faithful to this already perfect game, no liberties taken. Just modern graphics.
“Do you remember snake?”
“The feel of battle?”
“The clashing of bone and sinew”
cyborg ninja once said: ow ow uOoh
Haven't we all
0:14
one of the worst lines snake has uttered.
Metal Gear Solid 1 was excellent at varying fights and introducing interesting "gimmicks" you needed to figure out to win. The fights were more puzzles than anything else in most cases.
Exactly
Shit was SOO ahead of it's time. And a lot of them were puzzles that could be figured out and completed in many different ways. Like using chaffs so Raven couldn't fire the tank, using claymores on 2nd Raven fight, Nikita missle for 2nd Sniper wolf battle, and of course the iconic controller swap for Mantis. Most games today don't have that type of innovation and freedom of choice. The whole MGS series is leagues above most video games.
Dude Grey Fox was a great warrior , his script for the game is dam good the stuff he says rocks
7:55:
When I am studying for math exam.
sdfgsgdsgd
One of the things that stuck to me while playing this game is the Head Spasms some of the characters made like Snake when he was launched from the sub and when Gray Fox malfunctions......
Right? So we'll done for Ps1 graphics. Grayfox glitching out and banging his head on the ground while saying "I...I..I'm losing myselff" and every sound effect is just perfectly placed. I will never forget this
I wanted to play as Grey Fox so fucking badly as a child.
Mgs vr missions!
@@MaestroSpartan True. I meant for the story campaign, though.
@@arbin.m.5089 ah yeah that wouldve been awesome. Maybe If they do another remake they'll have a bonus mode
In a way I felt bad for grey fox. It sounds like he's not actually there. He wants to know he's still alive and wants the proof of his times before. And what did he mean by medicine?
They kept Grey Fox heavily drugged and sedated when they experimented on him. The pain of all these memories flooding back into the forefront of his mind overwhelmed him. He sought the suppressing feeling of the drugs to stop his recalling of memories.
@@flattmeister1704 I don't think it was because his memories flooded back and overwhelmed him at this point in the story but rather, most of his memories were probably erased before the experiments on him began and he was trying to fill in those blank spots as hard as he could. However the struggle and stress of him trying to refill in those blank spots coupled with the fact that his nerves were poorly reconnected caused a small short somewhere in the system setting off a chain reaction that ultimately resulted in a powerful (and obviously very painful) discharge that makes his entire exoskeleton go haywire which is what we see or at least that's how I've always interpreted it (the events of Shadow Moses in digital novel while not entirely cannon actually seems to add credence to this idea).
I had no idea there was a digital novel. That’s what I like that everyone interprets things differently. Different perspectives. Though he does day a line whilst he’s thrashing about. “I’m losing myself” .
Losing his sense of self. His identity has been erased.
Yes
I'm 30 years old playing this for the first time and this guy is kicking my ass
Note: in his final phase with all the blue electricity and stuff you can shoot him I try this in the original not sure about the
HD Version
I was too scared to come close and used grenades instead.
@@SmumplytheF2P that works too
This fight was amazing. It forces you to defend/attack/defend. Using everything you learned. Including forcing you to use no weapons just prior.
I've played it over a hundred times and now I found out that you can STUN HIM WITH CHAFFS?
If you constantly use chaffs to hit him, he complains the Snake he knew would never resort to that while he uses stealth on you.
right up there with one of the scarier moments as a child
"He was an experiment"
"In what S&M or something"
SHUT UP SNAKE YOU’RE HURTING MY FEELINGS INADVERTENTLY!
I remember when i was a kid after the cutscene thinking “fuck, i don’t want to get in there”
"Looks like they were cut by some type of blade" .........they must have called capcom resident evil 1 to get that grandiloquent exposition.
It's surprising how they did not ponder as to what the mysterious red substance around the dead bodies were, though.
1:14 OH MY GPD, I'M SO SCARED! AHHHHHHHHHH! *Pisses everywhere*
“Like old times, I’ve been waiting for this pain!!”
Who here remembers the metal gear AWESOME version of this XD
I kid you not, as a kid, I spent years stuck on this boss fight. It was only years later that I figured out that you had to punch him with your fists.
Crazy I remember this mission and I was 4 years old
Make me feel it. Make me feel alive again!
I wish they made a video game specifically aimed at Gray fox's storyline with the immense speed & psycho meter to rage out of control, or stay incontrol, That would be dynamic from Mr.Hideo Kojima
8:28 I know that feeling of a painful revelation only too well.
I remember playing this in 1998. Was the best!
Can't believe I was -3 when this came out
@@excruciatingorgasm9976 I was 6 😮
@@trellz17 I was 7 watching my older brother play and I was enthralled. It was too hard for me to play until a couple years later. Still have the original ps1 case with the 2 discs.
The voice of the cyborg ninja almost sounds like Weezy Jefferson lmao 😂😂😂
IM HERE SN...PPAA!! PPAAA!! UUUGGHH!!
around 30% of the video was the actual boss fight, with the 2nd half being cutscene. should've saw this coming tbh
0:22 It’s it’s ….. a ghost! LMAOO I always laugh at that 😂
The fight engagement music is 🔥
on the psx his health doesnt go down nearly that fast
True.
Neither in pc...
I played the ps1 version on the fat ps2 a few weeks ago, and I think it was a lot more difficult taking him out for sure. The newer versions seem more smooth and forgiving
🗣 *"EXOSKELETON !"*
7:49 That's one way to give yourself a headache
Does Grey Fox have any connection to Raiden from Metal Gear Rising in the Lore of the game? I'm kinda interested.
From what my friend said he trained one of the antagonists. Grey Fox was the original Cyborg Ninja
Basically, people hated Raiden in MGS2, so Kojima decided to turn Raiden into Gray Fox character in MGS4. Both are child soldiers, both were brainwashed, both becomed cyborg ninjas, both failed at their first attempt to have a normal life with their love.
No. He doesn't. The closest you could make the connection is there is a fake Grey Fox in MGS2
That's good Snake hurry up and catch me ❤
lol
This is the only game I rented, beat, and then bought anyway. Because I wanted to play it again and again.
My #1 favorite fight in video game history
6:39 wtf🤣
First Otacon limps like dying and after a couple minutes chat he sprint off the room like Bolt
At first i didnt understand all of the backlash from fans for the Master collection, especially on switch. But after watching this video from 5 years ago look so good. I see why people are so annoyed.
Im having fun with the game but its definitely blurry as fuck.
This resolution youve got here is amazing
The reason is because the new Master Collection is emulating the OG MGS1 on Playstation 1.
That’s why they added stuff like the CCTV filter, to make it feel like playing good old MGS1 on an old TV.
But yeah, it’s emulating PS1 MGS. What you see here is a more cleaned up version of it.
I wish we had both maybe, but honestly I much more prefer and love the PS1 emulation. ❤ Feels authentic and just like old times.
Love this game but unfortunately when i moved to Liverpool had to leave most of my games metal gear solid was one of them games i regret leaving behind i need to find it again
"it's like one of my Japanese animes" is that Policenauts reference? Because im sure Jonathan Ingram have some similar cutscene like that
what are you playing this on?? ps3? pc? emulator? i'm emulating but mine looks too pixeled, this one looks perfect!
Any tips for dealing with his jump kicks or whatever. They feel unreactable and they are so big that I can't dodge them. I have no idea what I can do to dodge them and after all my attempts I keep getting hit by them more and more
2024 and I’m playing this game for the first time. I can’t get past this boss fight 😢
Damn i seriously can not beat this boss in any other game mode but easy and normal.
make me feel ALIVE AGAIN!
12:35-12:37, 12:49-12:57, 13:26-13:32, 13:35-13:44, 15:46-15:50, 16:37-16:40, 19:03-19:10, 19:21-19:23, 19:52-19:54
00:39 I wish it was an ost
Funny how in Twin Snakes Grey Fox casually cuts that door panel without moving his blade like he is an anime character or something
Wow really good resolution . I remember on the original ps1 it was very low and poor quality . You can really see the texture quality in this one
dam I dont remember the game looking this good. The visuals here are super crisp.
Because it's being played on a emulator on a much higher resolution than on a regular PS1 Console. On actual hardware it won't be anywhere near this crisp.
@@corey1054 It isn't the resolution, it's the lack of subpixel precision from the original console that made the textures all wobbly. Basically, when the console calculated the pixels it had to render, it did so using a very poor precision, so actual pixel locations were rounded up and down incorrectly.
@@corey1054 there was a pc version
@@pomponi0 PS1 lacked precision therefore wobbly textures. Not only that but the game ran on an extremely low resolution but CRT tvs helped make it look good back then. However here there is texture filtering something the PS1 was not capable of.
This game 😢 so many memories thank lord for my childhood ❤️
