That is called Lindenmayer system(L System) or called turtle drawing. Using some expressions we can generate repeating structures. Read more about this technique: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L-system Also take a look at this video by Chris P: th-cam.com/video/rcLd_hBKGAE/w-d-xo.html
such a cool video! i wonder if there is a way to block growing animation like it hits a border given. for example, making A with growing animation in B borders.
With the mesh points scatter node selected, press N to access the side panel, then under "item" you can enable or disable different inputs and outputs.
I had followed everything in the tutorial great until the very end.. I am using a torso facing upwards as my object that I want the surface growth to occur on, However, as soon as I implement the Object Controller Falloff, the empty sphere that is supposed to trigger the growth does nothing at all. Scaling, grabbing, and rotating the empty sphere trigger nothing at all. I am a bit lost. Does anyone know any work arounds? If it helps, the Noise Falloff works well, but my only problem is that using Noise Falloff I am not too sure how I would render a final animation by simply manipulating the XYZ offset. If any one knows any tips on how I would animate a final render using Noise Falloff as my growth technique, that would also be extremely helpful. Thanks!
This is really groundbreaking! Found this on Lesterbanks. One question though: If I wanted to replace the L-System with a model of blooming petals, how would I swap that in the Animation Nodes? (Trying to bloom flowers off of an arm)
Noise falloff works exactly as expected. But for some reason when I assign falloff to my empty it doesn't work at all and falloff stays at 0. Any ideas?
@@_pinkangels keep messing with it. I figured it out but can’t remember exactly what I did. Maybe it had to do with the positioning of the empty relative to the parent object?
Hi Bluefox, is it possible to make this animation (see below example) in blender, i'm working on it for a few days but couldn't find a solution th-cam.com/video/SOk5qVXrFQA/w-d-xo.html another question, is there different formulas for lsystem and where can we find them?
Check this twitter post for differential growth: twitter.com/faaaaarck/status/1331222239556067328?s=20 Yes, you can find many on internet or make yourself check this one: paulbourke.net/fractals/lsys/
@@bluefoxcreation , Neis aka Bradley Animation also made a diff growth but he says it's better to make this kind of animation with houdini but i wonder if you can do it, because there are a few guys who can make it via AN and you are one of those. Also thanks for the second link for lsystems
BLUEFOX IS BACK! yeah buddy
Hopefully AN will be made more user friendly like in C4D and there will be plenty of tutorials and courses.
I always love blender tutorials that smartly integrate AN extensive functionalities such as this one. Thank you!
I immediately clicked when I saw you uploaded. Your animation nodes videos are super informative. Glad to see you back
Thanks man😄
great tutorial! keep making....ive learnt a lot from your videos
Thank you😊
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Hi, thanks for ur work! I have one question: what expression on 0:48 does, can u share link to read some info about this?

@@bluefoxcreation wow thanks for the info & thanks for sharing your knowledge with us !
@@bluefoxcreation Yeah man, thanks a lot!)
Nice i love this. :)
very amazing ^_^
BlueFox why would my particle system be slightly offset from the torus? It is also very much smaller.
Awesome!
at 0:21 where can i find the left layout screen?
I think I just figured that out: you have to download Animation Nodes and install it as an add-on :)
such a cool video! i wonder if there is a way to block growing animation like it hits a border given. for example, making A with growing animation in B borders.
Great tutorial!! But, my "Mesh Points Scatter" has only "Points" output.
Is this a version-dependent difference?
yes i have the same problem
With the mesh points scatter node selected, press N to access the side panel, then under "item" you can enable or disable different inputs and outputs.
Where I can find the animation nodes? I don't see it anywhere
Great tutorial!!!
Awesome 😊
🤝🤝
Can you tell me which nodes you downloaded in order to follow the tutorial? thank you !
The Mesh Point Scatter is different from yours. It's lacking Matrices and Vector nodes for a Point node instead. Am I using the right version?
What window is that when the tutorial starts? I can't seem to open it?
animation nodes are not in Blender naturally you need to download them this helped me.

4;05 how to come up node with w key? Please let me know
i taught houdini is the boss in this but this is actually great and you can even render faster using Eevee ❤
shortcut for context pie and get loop through matrices, please and thank you for the tutorial
scatter point does not show me matrices plug
For pie menu and get loop use 'w'
@@ricksfields3240 update AN to latest to get matrices out
@@bluefoxcreation hey! Do you have a link to the latest version? I've tried a few different ones, and none seem to have that option.

I think latest official AN have matrices option. Otherwise download this custom build:

joined patreon, the file doesnt work with any version from 2.83 forward.
Was the mesh list node discontinued? I can't seem to find it, and so I can't get the loop working for multiple points
can you re do this in Geonodes bleder
sorry can i ask. I dont see matrices in node Mesh point scatter ?
Update AN to latest version
@@bluefoxcreation Does it also have to be a newer version of Blender. I've updated AN but still get no matrices

Try increasing output value of maprange node.
