Hi - Many thanks for those who contacted me regarding my lathe and accessories.
    These have now been sold.
My channel will remain active, as some of the content might be of interest to some.
All the best - and happy and safe turning!

Just found your channel Andrew. It's a shame you gave up on woodturning as it's a skill that I would love to get back into. I've not had the opportunity since my school days 1979 / 1980. Hopefully some day soon I'll get the opportunity to live my creative dream. Good luck in your chosen passion. Every man needs one. All the best for 2019. Peace ✌

Just seen this, what a shame for us. I enjoyed your channel a lot, and if you get the same level of enjoyment out of your metalwork endeavour you will be having a whale of a time!
Good luck with the new direction!

Thanks Darren - I really enjoyed woodturning - but now into making model steam engines. It's great fun and my new channel is going well.
      All the best.

Of course the steam engine is interesting, but the lathe is not necessary to throw. Good luck!

It's a real shame I have to let it go - but I don't have room or the spare time.
Good luck my friend. All the best.

I enjoyed your projects, especially the pewter work. I look forward to seeing other projects as I am also a metal worker.

Thanks Jimmie. Bram the Wadesmill woodturner inspired me to have a go at the pewter stuff - and I think that re-energised my interest in metalworking.
Keep an eye on my metalworking channel if you fancy model engineering.
      Cheers.

Hi Andrew was just wondering how are you are getting on with your little steam engines I have a friend who makes very similar but on a slightly bigger scale would be great if you made a few videos would find them very interesting and I’m sure lots of other people would as well anyhow hope you’re okay I’ve just watched all your old videos

Hi Norman. I'm hooked! My other channel is called 'Learning Turning Metal' - with lots of videos. I'm on my 4th engine at the moment. You should be able to access my channel by clicking on my logo on the left of this message. Alternatively just google 'Learning Turning Metal'.
The only positive out of the virus situation is that we can all spend loads of time in our workshops.
I hope are staying safe too.
      All the best.

Thanks Graham - it was a hard decision. With my other growing interest, it was very difficult keeping my hand in on wood turning. It's been a great and enjoyable experience though - so absolutely no regrets and I hope others have got something out of my videos.
      Happy turning and keep safe!

Sorry to hear you have made the decision to sell up. I have really enjoyed watching your channel. I have been following along on your metal working channel and I can certainly see why you have become hooked. So it's not really a goodbye more of you have just flicked over to the other side.

    • @tiddlerfromtad
      @tiddlerfromtad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi John - it was a very difficult decision. The little steam engine took around 3 months to make, and the 12 videos took a while to make too. As such, I can't see that I will get the time on the wood lathe - and I think it's something you really need to keep your hand in practicing.
Thanks for following along on my metalworking channel.
      All the best.
      Andrew

I did wonder what had happened to you Andrew. A real shame as you are certainly very well skilled with the woodturning. Love the steam engine, I can certainly see why you have become hooked on that. Did you make all the metal parts like the drive wheel etc.?
I'm sure they will all sell well and wish you a long, happy and safe time on the metal working.

    • @tiddlerfromtad
      @tiddlerfromtad  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Paul - it's made from a mixture of castings and bar stock - both of which requre a significant amount of machining. Probably not your 'cup of tea' but I documented the process with 12 videos on my metal turning channel:

Good luck with your woodworking projects.

I like both woodwork and metal work. I’d like to get a metal lathe but there’s no point me getting one without also getting a milling machine as for model engineering you really need both a lathe and a mill and getting both is quite pricey. I have considered building my own coal fired steam locomotive perhaps 3 1/4” gauge but the copper for boiler making is also very expensive. I have the capability of building a loco and would really enjoy the mindful intense concentration that such a project requires but model engineering is a very expensive hobby. So looks like I’ll stay with my woodwork :)

Hi Bram - yes it was a tough decision but the engineering side won. It took me around 3 months making the little steam engine and producing 12 videos covering the key stages.
If you have any interest in model engineering, check out my other channel at:
      th-cam.com/channels/9bByiDDa9xMYdWYDGboeYQ.html
In a way you influenced and re-energised my interest in metalworking..... The pewter bowl you produced really inspired me and I couldn't resist having a go at making something with pewter.
Take care mate and keep on producing those brilliant pieces.
      All the best - Andrew

What a shame you are giving your Woodturning the boot.
I have enjoyed watching your videos and you are clearly a talented woodturner.
I am going to Axminster Nuneaton tomorrow hoping to view the 1628 and the 2030 and buy one or the other in part as a result of watching you reviewing your 1628.
Best of luck and I hope you will treat us to a farewell Woodturning video

Hi Mart - Yes I do have a metalworking channel. I produced 12 videos of me making the little steam engine. I took me 3 months and as such, I didn't get any time to keep my hand in on the woodturning. I plan to make another engine over the next 3 months.
