I love this one. Simple, ingenious design combined with precision machining and a serious attention to fit & finish. It's a hallmark of a lot of great products.
Yeah it was innovative in 1936 it’s more of a gimmick now. I bought one simply because I had one in 1980 and broke it it was not nearly as well-made as this one. But this one thrown in a drawer and ignored of no real use
I've handled one of these at a knife get-together. I think I was taken up more by the feeling of handling contraband (in my area) than anything about the knife itself. Glad to see the final results of this experiment and that you get to some other knives in that pocket again.
They are already “fidgety” like they are though. Opening father would just slow the process of opening and being ready to use which is the big draw of a knife like this. I’m glad they engineered it to open just enough to allow the blade to deploy. They are pretty well thought out knives overall. Yes, before anyone asks I do daily carry Reate gravity knives.
My friend I love you!! One of the links ship to my county!!! 🤟🤟🤟 I was desperate with only the pirated version because I couldn't find a way to buy it. Awesome I will give you a big shout when I record my video!!!
I’m seriously considering one of these at some point. I’ve never had Elmax before so that could be interesting. Although, I do enjoy the 3V on my Demko so wouldn’t mind one of the older ones either. I don’t care for Ultem at all so would have to figure out what inlay would be best when it becomes available. Thanks for the video. Looks like a great knife!
As a collector and enthusiast I really enjoy mine..if you decide to get one..another important decision to make is what size you want, for me the M size is definitely where it's at🙌
What color scales are you wanting? I’m currently experimenting making scales for these knives, I’ll throw a pair your way if they pass the mustard. I absolutely love my Exo-m, been using it exclusively since 6/3/23
Man I'd kill for some carbonfiber scales..purple haze or red dark matter, I also think something like frag pattern polished aluminum would look really cool
@@Rollshambo I have some carbon fiber coming in sometime next week, I was thinking about titanium or black Zirconium scales with some texture on them, aluminum is a good idea, wish I had anodizing setup, that would be sick. Well once I have yours done, I’ll shoot a message and figure out where to mail them off to. Great video by the way, nice that someone else is using their knife long term as well.
I have been eyeballing this knife. Does seem like it could be awkward for lefties tho. I would have to ise index finger on tue lock. May adjust to it tho. Great vodeo
All I want to know and see, is how practical and easy it is to open/close. Did you get snappy with it, is it capable of being snappy? Everything else has been covered, if one watches these type videos.
I made a 30 day extended carry video because this is the knife my regular audience voted for for this episode I did 2 other videos on this knife as well but to answer your question it's as snappy as you are since the deployment quickness depends on how quick you can flick your wrist..great carry knife, easy to manipulate and enjoyable to deploy, thanks for watching🍻
I can sorta kinda (not really) understand why switchblade , otf and auto's are illegal in some places. I DEFINITELY cannot understand why a gravity knife is even considered in the same classes. Not taking anything from a gravity knife , just a wonder of mine.🤔🤷♂️
@Rollshambo no matter how good or bad of a year i have financially and what i put aside or plan for...one fact is a constant...i am always coincidentally too broke on black friday to enjoy the rare price drops 😆
Nearly all my knives end up better after I sharpen them from the factory. Truthfully though, I don’t end up using them as much because I look for something new
The amount of time I spend rediscovering pieces in my collection months later after putting it down for something else..sometimes that's the best part since I don't have to pay for shipping again😂
You know gravity knives were invented in 1936 right. I had one in 1980 I liked it I broke it this knife is well-made and very tough. But as a electrician naturally it gets used a lot. yes it can be used but it’s a gimmick knife. I still carry a simple 940 in my pocket at work.
Sorry as a real worker cutting up boxes that’s what the cleanup guy does not die I throw everything in a pile and it’s his job to get rid of it not mine. And if he would cut up boxes he would be fired get out we need a worker not a player
It’s not fun being an electrician you bus stop a bunch of $10 razor knives But I will say that knife is pretty tough but the back corner of the handle is uncomfortable when stripping wire sheathing.
So I’ll stick with the 940 Although I will say the only reason I bought that gravity knife was I had one as a little kid and wanted a newer one a better made one
You make videos on TH-cam you will never believe me. I have been in electrician for 30 years making $78 an hour. Will you be still making money and videos 30 years from now I don’t think so

I wish the micarta side opened wider to make it more fidgety. It'd be cool to have that sort of "half butterfly" opening method.

Been debating between getting this vs the Paragon warlock
I love the concept and the execution, but i just dropped 300 on a new axial shift 3.0! I have to wait, my budget can't take it for now.
It got great acoustics too

Love these.
Have you found any aftermarket inlays for the EXO and the XO-M ?
Absolutely, high grain designs has multiple sets I'm considering at the moment
Made do you think would be the best all round blade shape? Drop point, tanto or bayonet? I like the tanto but the bayonet shape is really tempting.
I got the bronze el max I love it

Where do you sell the scales?
@@antaeus716 I’ve tossed around the idea and I didn’t get much interest from people, so I never ended up making a jig
Nice! A follow up video 🤙
Most of my daily Carries are in great condition

Love my exo-m. Super slicey and fidgeters dream.
Deployment enjoyment matters!! Helps that its an easy carry option too
I would break my $200 rule for that blade. Truly killer!!
I had a 200$ rule once🥲

Ahh the knife to open more knives that will open more knives...and so on.
The rabbit hole is deep 😄 I use my knives for other stuff too but opening packages and breaking them down has become a frequent purpose haha
@@Rollshambo yup. The wife was always like "another knife??" but she's also like "you got your knife on ya?" when she needs something. 😂😂
@@GatorAaron it's a good thing my wife doesn't talk to other knife guys wives..or theyd probably start thinking they all married the same guy🤣
Reate makes good stuff, I would love to have the funds to own an exo!

you should go to the hardware store and buy a package of firewood, split it up and CARVE some WOOD with all your knives......OnWard.......
Buy a replica, same quality, HRC60 steel, 40$
Why would I buy a replica if I already bought the real deal?
@@Rollshambo Obviously, the comment isn't directed towards you, but towards people who want an almost exact feel, but for a fraction of the price
You aren't getting the same quality at that small of a fraction of the price.
