8:41 True... But, as long as you hold it up to any camera you might want to hide from, it'll stop the camera from properly focusing and letting the enemy know you're there, so thats a major positive.
I have the “big boy” version with no lock and used to edc in my front pocket or a leather horizontal belt holster. Never once did the blade accidentally deploy, I ofc kept it in my pocket tip up but even if it flipped upside down in my pocket it never deployed because it would fall to the bottom of my pocket and couldn’t deploy. The only reason I switched to using the horizontal leather belt holster was because pocket lint gummed up the sliding track and even when flicking it open it didn’t want to deploy.
finally picked up the aluminum/elmax version the day the preorder was announced. still kinda annoyed bladehq didn’t give any time frame on when they will be shipping em out
I love this knife. Can you just go ahead and declare me the winner when you give it away? 😂 The titanium version of the Exo is on my must have (grail) list. I know. I’m a simpleton. I like what I like though. 😂 Thanks for this video.
I carry the exo u every day at work and the lock has never disengaged in my pocket. Just like Complex’s tools very inexpensive and very recommendable. I have the blade hq exclusive as well and have never had a problem with the lock. Compressed air works great to clean em, no need to take it apart. If something gets stuck in it I usually just open and close it a bunch and it comes right out.

@metal_complex, any chance we can get some reviews on the various Atlas lock knives, specifically the FM-1, Engage, and Karve? I would love to see your thoughts on that whole family of knives. If it makes any difference, OG has scales for the Engage.
I’ve got the utility version with the same lock. It was awkward at first but I can use my pointer finger to operate it pretty smoothly now. A little trial and error but it’s not bad
You gotta refresh throughout the day on the one you want. They say coming soon but are coming in and out of stock to pre order then all of sudden they’re out of stock. I picked one up and it went back to coming soon and another went out of stock. Hope this helps.
It has box cutter acoustics. Not for me, but I'm for maximum variety, maximum freedom of choice, so for those who like these, enjoy them! My knife, my choice™
I live in the Netherlands, and honestly idk why gravity knives are illegal. Autos I totally get, but this takes just as much effort to deploy as a normal folder with a crossbar lock. I guess they're just too new for the law to catch up.
I don’t get why automatic knives are illegal. They are also slower to deploy than most regular folders. If a folder has a “wave opener” on it, it’s way faster than any auto or gravity knife.
Honestly I don't understand the problem with autos, either. So it deploys quickly... So what? Is there some other factor I'm missing? Any manual pocket knife with decent action deploys just about as quickly, anyway. 🤷♂ Thankfully I live in an area with pretty lax laws.
Autos make no sense either, most have more fragile locks vs manual flippers or lockbacks, and the vast majority of knives can be deployed with one hand.
I cannot see a reason for taking it apart unless you do that as part of your TH-cam channel. The construction looks very simple and 95% of everything is already accessible.

At a level 8k black-ops, I won’t make it to level 9k… like the guy that you speak of. And I’ll never be able to hunt deer again. I’m sound sensitive, and I LOVE the sound of gun mechanisms and knives locking. It’s a sound that I can feel in my hand and it feels like I’m part of the tool - I know it’s weird. I get the same feeling from competing in uspsa, when I land an a-zone shot - deploying a knife and locking for a little while gives me a similar endorphin release and it’s a mix of the sounds and feeling of the tools. I love the sound of this one, on a mic. My cats and my son know that I’m relaxing when they hear me clicking and clacking away and they come to chill with me, when they hear me actuating a slide or flipping a blade repeatedly. Kydex, aluminum and Ti frames, CF, and the sound of the detent ball rolling over the tang with a final snap and a firm lock engagement.

Glad I waited for the elmax run. Got a satin drop point in green today
Same I almost bought one of these not thinking they would do a better steel. I have the gray tanto coming to me should be here Tuesday.
Just grabbed the elmax frag pattern on today’s drop. I’ve really been digging aluminum lately
