It’s a good time to buy for OG Xbox and Xbox 360 right now. Some games are getting expensive but those are the exception. Most games are affordable still. I’d recommend both Max Payne games for the OG Xbox.
It's the problem that some of the expensive ones are actually some of the most common games funnily enough. The Halo series (while not ridiculously priced) are definitely getting overcharged everywhere for their old versions. @@thegamethrifter Really? Because I’ve heard everywhere online that 1.6 supposed to be the best. And like you said, the ones made after 2004 are the best. What should I be looking out for her to try to find them?
All solid consoles in their own rights, but Xbox's power led it to getting many additional features and even some exclusive games! Also, Xbox Live and the ability to play online right out of the box was a massive advantage.
Great video, I've been an Xbox player since the first one. They're always thinking ahead about the next big thing in games. Even now with cloud gaming, they are leading the console charge. I'm currently replaying Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. I didn't play the original game but I love Chaos Bleeds and it's complex fighting system and cool puzzle-ish gameplay. Plus you play as different characters and it is like a lost episode of the show. Definitely a project with a lot of love put into the development.
Chaos Bleeds is also good! But if you get the chance to try the original game I'd highly suggest it because even though you only play as Buffy, they did a great job with a slightly darker tone. The original Xbox brought some good stuff like internal HDD and Ethernet port built in. Revolutionized online multiplayer as well. And Xbox in general have a great history of doing cool things like Achievements, Party Chat, brought Netflix to an app. Appreciate you watching!
@@thegamethrifter lol its honestly like a 75 or 85 of 100 tops, but its a super fun time if you and 3 friends are playing. Its a good old midway arcade game port

So I collect for xbox 360 at the moment. But for some reason I am really tempted to get an og xbox and collect for it instead. I just love the aesthetic of it. What do you think silly idea? stick with 360?
I collect for both!! The original Xbox is great to collect for right now because 96% of the library is really cheap to buy! There's a handful of expensive games, but most are highly affordable!
Just scored one on marketplace the other day for 30 bucks, slowly building my library. I had to revisit my favorite spongebob game, the one based on the movie. Currently playing GTA 3. Anyone have trouble with game discs that look pristine but won't read on the console?
"Relatively cheap" Well, I suppose in a world where a $300 graphics card is considered "budget", the games would be. However when I go looking for games I'd like to have on the Xbox, they all seem to be $30+ for a bare disc and $70+ for a complete copy. Personally, i don't consider that cheap. Then again, I'm poor.
I'm not rich by any means, but if I could give a suggestion it'd be to look for local mom and pop retro stores in your area or garage sales and yard sales. I regularly find Xbox games for a couple of dollars. Even eBay has some pretty cheap depending on the game.
@@thegamethrifter I've been looking for a copy of Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee. One game store told me that a different location had it, but wanted $33 for just the disc in a generic case. I checked two retro game stores (two locations in the same chain), but they didn't have it either. One of them did had Godzilla: Save the Earth (I actually have that one) complete, and they wanted $56 for it! On eBay, G:DAMM usually goes for around $30 for a bare disc and $50+ for a complete copy. I once saw the case in Savers (like Goodwill), but when I took it up to the register and they opened it, there was some other disc in it, not the game. :(
To be honest, ROMS aren't as good as the actual games. Especially if you're interested in actually collecting like myself. I have a Pound HDMI converter on my OG Xbox as it is. Games aren't super expensive and it's fun to collect for. Hence the video.
@@levigrant9161 is that really your argument? 😂😂 So you're telling me a newer game has better graphics than older versions of the game? 😂😂😂 Graphics alone don't make a game better. Fable 2 is considered the best in the series and it's not even close between 2 and 3.
I think I put Splinter Cell in the montage at the end, but Riddick is a gem for sure. I am only allowed to make videos a certain length for now. But good choices for sure!
I only have so much time for each video since the channel just started. Splinter Cell I fit in at the split screen part in the end. I have Conker, Ghoulies and NG but didn't capture footage. Maybe a follow up video is needed!
eBay is a good bet, but try to get a model produced after 2003 if possible. They can be modded to have HDMI port, but I use a thing called a Pound HDMI converter and it works fine for me.
It's like, we got KOTOR 1 and 2 and both were awesome (2 was made by Obsidian) and they did some great Dragon Age games, but none for the past decade. And the first 3 Mass Effect games were fantastic too. @@titanman9000
Halo LAN parties were peak gaming. Nothing will beat the experience of having 16 friends in 1 room all yelling together. Online play is a hollow, boring, lonely experience by comparison.
Xbox was always superior to PS2. Yet PS2 is goated due to their exclusives. At the end of the day Xbox was more powerful and games generally played and looked better on their console.
Back then I wasn't fully aware of the in's and out's of it all, but when I played NFL 2K5 on Xbox the jerseys got dirty and had creases on them, and the halftime show had moving highlights due to the internal Hard Drive, and on PS2 that stuff wasn't there. Both are solid consoles, but I credit Xbox with my love on online gaming!
Unless it is some kind of rich video game collector no one is gonna buy an original Xbox in 2023 everyone today is buying the Xbox Series X/S and playing with people around the world on Xbox live
I'm not rich at all, and original Xbox is fairly cheap to collect for right now. Nostalgia can be strong, and right now there's 20,000 people playing Insignia on original Xbox, which is actually really cool. There's a reason why classics are classic! I own a Series X and PS5 btw, but it's a blast to go back and play these old games again.
@@thegamethrifter most people today are cheap tho they are gonna put in their hard earned money for the newest technology that's just how it is and you know the difference number of 20,000 compared to 20 million?
Seems like quite a few people are interested in collecting from the looks of it. As we get further into the digital age, the only things we own are going to be physical. I think 52 original Xbox games are backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X, and some with free enhancements. But no doubt the best way to play these games is how they were originally played. You can get a start to a collection of OG Xbox for $200 or less. So it's not bad. I pick up Xbox games almost every time I hit a yard sale or retro shop. Most are $5 or so.@@Darkscenes-jp4ge

Great video! Do you know what year OG Xbox is? Mines is an 03 one.
My original launch OG Xbox was 01. My newer one is an 04, which is actually pretty sturdy.
Thanks for watching!
Subbed cause of the sound of the of xbox
I appreciate it!
Gauntlet Dark Legacy or bust
I've never played it, but I'll look into it!
@@thegamethrifter lol its honestly like a 75 or 85 of 100 tops, but its a super fun time if you and 3 friends are playing. Its a good old midway arcade game port
I'll keep an eye open! I actually tend to find a ton of rarer games out at thrift stores or garage sales. I've picked up some really cool stuff for $1 here or $2 there lol@@steakcrust558
i miss my old xbox
Now is the time to buy them again! They're gonna go up in price!
Splinter cell series was my favourite.
Such a classic series! I hope they bring it back soon!
Lots of good rainbow six games on it too
Forgot all about those! Good call! @@Gameprojordan
I didn't know you did have videos too.
I do lots of videos
Damn t1 was like a cable back in the 1998. If you remember back then
I wasn't on the internet until around 2000 lol
Armed and Dangerous and Splinter Cell are missing. DOA 3 too
I can only put so many in these videos, but I'll have more on the original Xbox! Got those games in my collection.
Xbox needs to make #EnterTheMatrix & #PathOfNeo forward compatible with enhancements.
It'd be nice if they did that with a bunch of games honestly!
*Otogi and Out Run 2? Both cost $200 a pop now* ⭐️
For real? Dang...I got some expensive games lol
Xbox creation was the best in gaming industry, first game i played was Halo, and damn could not turn off the TV for 8 hours.
That's what I'm talking about! Such an awesome time!
@@thegamethrifter Which do you prefer if you had to pick one console?
playing crackdown here atm. great game.
@@KrisVickers-wn6dd I'd pick 360 because it's my all time favorite console. There's just so much that they did right.
@@thegamethrifter Interesting. Top 5 360 games?
Just scored one on marketplace the other day for 30 bucks, slowly building my library. I had to revisit my favorite spongebob game, the one based on the movie. Currently playing GTA 3. Anyone have trouble with game discs that look pristine but won't read on the console?
That's awesome! The problem with some of the earlier Xbox consoles is the disc drive could be faulty and have trouble reading discs.
Nice!
Thanks!
I remember getting my Xbox then going to the game store and asking for a memory card and getting told it was built in with the game
I actually bought the memory card because I didn't understand lol
@@thegamethrifter I was lost but also happy because just came from PS2 and not having a memory card
Jet Set Radio !!!!!!!!!!!
CLASSIC! Sega is finally working on a sequel too.
Mechassault ?
Great game for sure! Also cheap to pick up!
Skip all this. Buy splinter cell and install a hard drive. Then add lots of xbox roms. Buy an hdmi cable for it. You're welcome.
To be honest, ROMS aren't as good as the actual games. Especially if you're interested in actually collecting like myself. I have a Pound HDMI converter on my OG Xbox as it is. Games aren't super expensive and it's fun to collect for. Hence the video.
HDMI mod is the best quality, and you need hardware mod for that.
I think my footage looks pretty good and I just use the Pound HDMI converter! @@GreySectoid
Skip all that noise and hardmod the thing. Softmods are a thing of the past.
cool console
Thanks very much!
If you think that Fable is good you should try Fable 3 for the Xbox 360
I've played and beat every Fable game including the Arcade one and Kinect one...lol
Fable 3 is the worst of the series. Fable 2 is where it's at on the 360.
@JoshLineberry you are saying that Fable 3 is the worst I've got news for you Fable3 has better graphics than Fable2
@@levigrant9161 is that really your argument? 😂😂 So you're telling me a newer game has better graphics than older versions of the game? 😂😂😂 Graphics alone don't make a game better. Fable 2 is considered the best in the series and it's not even close between 2 and 3.
@JoshLineberry but Fabial 2 has the worst graphics than Fable 3 I have seen a video of Fable 2 on TH-cam and the graphics is not that good
still waiting for more original Xbox titles for backwards compatible?
I doubt they do anymore, but with Microsoft owning Activision it's feasible.
That timing capacitor is a bitch im gonna have to rip mine out.
Eventually they'll all go bad unfortunately.
i knew it i knew it u would say halo XD man that game does want to die 😍
Halo is awesome!
where are the Splinter Cell games and Riddick?
I think I put Splinter Cell in the montage at the end, but Riddick is a gem for sure. I am only allowed to make videos a certain length for now. But good choices for sure!
@@thegamethrifter yes that Riddick game was so advanced for its time.
I agree! I own it and own the 2nd game as well as the remastered first game on 360. @@purefoldnz3070
@@thegamethrifter fantastic!
This video is a sin, how could your forget Grab By The Ghoulies, Conker Live & Reloaded Ninja Gaiden, DOA 3, Splinter Cell?
I only have so much time for each video since the channel just started. Splinter Cell I fit in at the split screen part in the end. I have Conker, Ghoulies and NG but didn't capture footage. Maybe a follow up video is needed!
@@thegamethrifter Great video anyway!
I appreciate it! It's definitely hard to fit in a ton of games into these videos like I want! @@Ayixlia
Anyone know where i can get one? Is it possible to convert it to hdmi port?
eBay is a good bet, but try to get a model produced after 2003 if possible. They can be modded to have HDMI port, but I use a thing called a Pound HDMI converter and it works fine for me.
People are absolutely obsessed with this console I’ve been getting recommended a shit ton of these videos. Lol
It's a great console, and right now is very cheap to collect for!
The Rock
If you smell what he's cooking! It's an OG Xbox!

Double Doink the Clown
Gameplay footage of kotor 1 which is great. I always liked kotor 2 even more! More upgrades and items still hoping for a kotor 3
You'd think it'd be a no brainer at this point!
@@thegamethrifter yes and an instant hit! BioWare needs to re-activate its fan base lol
It's like, we got KOTOR 1 and 2 and both were awesome (2 was made by Obsidian) and they did some great Dragon Age games, but none for the past decade. And the first 3 Mass Effect games were fantastic too. @@titanman9000
I don’t remember when but someone gave me a weird game called pariah and that game was OK just like halo
Never heard of it, but I'll look into it!
Halo LAN parties were peak gaming. Nothing will beat the experience of having 16 friends in 1 room all yelling together. Online play is a hollow, boring, lonely experience by comparison.
Agreed!
Im both a playstation and xbox guy.
So you're just a gamer! Awesome!
You said it Perfectly.
Anybody; BLACK, MAX PAYNE 1& 2, KILLSWITCH, HALO 1&2, HITMAN GAMES, MECH ASSAULT 1&2, FAR CRY INSTINCTS!!! 😎
All awesome games!
@@thegamethrifter but most kids parents are gonna buy the newest console and spend more money no way kids would be happy to go to school and have a completely different very old video game system compared to what all their friends have that's why im saying people who buy the original Xbox and it's games today are only for 2 reasons 1. rich video game collectors or 2. people who had the console when they were little and want the nostalgia but even people who want the nostalgia they are still always be playing the newest video game consoles this is facts
For sure, most parent will buy the latest tech for their kids. @@Darkscenes-jp4ge
My original OG Xbox that I bought like 20 years ago just quit working last month and I'm going to replace it asap because it's one of my favorite all time consoles. Probably ranks as Top 3 in my gaming history, played it a ton.
GREAT console, probably my favorite all time!
@@thegamethrifter yea I worked at Circuit City in vid game dept during that era and always told customers that Xbox was far superior to PS2 as far as performance.
@@TadashiNazuka It was night and day difference. In fact, Xbox got exclusives because of the power difference. It was attractive to developers!
Just bought one today so I could play Halo 2 and Manhunt

I feel that you are off on the crimson skies idea. I would love an updated game using the same idea for today's market. Ace combat still kicks it. Imagine crimson skies with ace combat playstyle
I guess that'd be fine, I do love Crimson Skies though. Feels like an underrated gem!
Ps2 was better and it's not even close
I think the people happiest were the one's with both like me.
Ps2 is nowhere near as good, sorry.
Most of thr games you are pining over are dumbed down pc ports, part of why i hated the xbox game devs started dumbing down games to also work on consoles
Original Xbox and even Xbox 360 were absolutely crapping on PC games at that time. I'm sure there's plenty of PC oriented channels you can watch, I do console videos on the games I have a collection of. Which currently sits in the thousands.
