This video will demonstrate how to set up/utilize the Ultrasonic, how to bag instruments in either a sterilization pouch or cassette, how to properly sterilize using Cold Sterile/Glutaraldehyde, and how to use the Autoclave. Note that every dental office will have a different setup or make/model of equipment so always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Ultrasonic cleaners are the first step in preparing dental instruments for sterilization. Ultrasonic cleaners are used for dental instruments before the sterilization process to avoid the heat from the Autoclave “baking on” blood, tissue and other organic residues that cause infection problems.
A dental autoclave, also known as a steam sterilizer, is the machine that is used to properly sanitize dental equipment after its use. It utilizes high-pressure temperatures and steam to combat debris and bacteria.
In Dentistry, Universal/Standard Precautions with Proper Sterilization of Instruments and Disinfection of the dental area along with the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is ESSENTIAL.
