People should realize how dangerously slow 32 kph really is! Everything on the road including billy on his 10spd is coming up from behind! Constantly being passed is actually disconcerting and the individual is in fact a hazard on the road! “Unlocked” you can hit 50 but you probably are limited to 50km range at that point and as far as no licence or insurance at that point I’m sceptical!

Class 2 ebikes by federal law in the us have a top speed of 20mph and have no oedals throttle only. Its what makes scooters legal. If you unlock it whoch eveyone will it goes 50mph then you gotta register it as a moped or motorcycle.
If it doesn't have peddels, it's considered a motorcycle I think you would be better off to try to unlock the speed and get it registered as an actual motorcycle Or limited speed motorcycle that doesn't require a motorcycle license just regular driver's license And you can go up to seventy kilometers an hour

32k is 19 slow miles per hour. Avg e bike speed. That 50 unlocked sounds pretty decent though. Especially for that style bike. But the range is not the best so I can't see too much benefit
There's a benefit to that depending on where you live. For example. In my state, and high theft rate in my city. Even at 49 with no accidents or claims in the last 7 years. My insurance on a Navi would have been 200 a month, Progressive told me after 3 years it would go down to 50. But I'm not paying like 1900 a year on insurance for an 1800 dollar bike. Plus I'd have to pay to get an MSC certification another 200 bucks. With a moped, I can do 40, the state i'm in is actually forbidden from registering mopeds in any way (don't look at me, it's how the law was written), and only require a drivers license of any kind. 96% of our streets are 45 mph or below. I'm also not required to buy insurance (but insurance on an electric moped for me is 30 bucks a month. No need to get "the man" involved or deal with all that expense.
Thats not entirely true. You just need to be more aware of your surroundings since theyre not gonna hear you. I would never count on them hearing me anyways and be cautious regardless
