Spoiler talk ahead (yes this movie has been out a while but I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who's still yet to see it, no matter how unlikely a person who's yet to see the film may come across this clip and read the comments.)
"Just as luck appears in three, so does misfortune. Because you don't want ot see it, you don't see it coming. Even if you notice it, you don't say anything. Even if you're told, you don't listen. Then Boom! The end comes!
In our world, you would be dead the first time, let alone all three times.- Batou, much later in the film (with a bit of help from Wikiquote so I would try to get it right)
Am I alone in thinking that he wasn't just refering to the whole Dollhouse segment and loops, as well as bringing this up to Togusa given he seemed to not pick it up until it seemed to be too late for him (before he was pulled out of the whole sequence), he was also refering to his own expirences, specfically this scene?
Because Batou didn't want to see danger, and because that scan earlier said nothing of importance, he didn't see it coming.
When he got into the shop, it was all with a blue filter.
Even if you don't notice, you don't say anything.
And then finally when outright told by the Major herself.
    "You've entered the killzone."
Even if you're told you don't listen.
Leading up to what played out, with what appears to be from his viewpoint, getting ambushed, when in reality, he was hacked into, and was made into something going crazy.
    Then Boom! The end comes!
As pointed out later on, it's not a usual thing for Batou of all people to get hacked, which is another way of saying the one responsible (preseumbly Kim) had to be THAT good to do so, and we're shown as much during the Dollhouse sequence.
Besides being outright warned by the Major in an indirect fashion, there were a few signs of realizing they (him and Tougusa) were thrown for a repeating lop. He clearly learned from here.
I wanna ramble more but maybe I might save that for an Essay or something.

Damn I really have to watch the movie more than one so I could think this way. Just watched it yesterday and I really thought when Batou said that, it was when he experienced the same thing with Togusa in the mansion. But clearly, he was referring to this exact moment too

I see the blue filter, but what does it mean?

    • @freakctc
      @freakctc 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@atibamaule It represents a change in the environment. The ingenuity of the hack on Batou is that it works on his, for lack of a better term, paranoia that he's being observed. The blue hue represents a cool, calm feeling, while his growing paranoia leads to the eventual hack taking full effect. It's mainly a visual hack to distract him, and the actual hack is to harm himself, and then innocent bystanders to get him removed from his investigation.
What always gets me is that Batou doesn't realize Ishikawa is in there waiting for him. He's the guy in the hat and jacket in the aisle.

This is extremely impressive for early non-cell animation. I honestly don’t know how they did it. This era of late 90s-early 2000s computer colored/produced anime is so ugly because it was a big technological transition that was just being figured out. This movie looks like it could have been made today though.

I'm yet to see Innocence, but I LOVE how Motoko is basically Batou's guardian angel this go around. She's actively using her new digital immortal abilities to assist her friend, and that's a cool way of keeping the past protagonist in an important role.

It is intentional, the build up and wind up of the banal is very much intentional. Took me a year or two to feel normal just going to the store, when you’re ALWAYS waiting for the other shoe to drop and spot the next threat just going to get dog food can be like being outside the wire in hostile ground.
Batu here came packing three side arms like a giga chad but you don’t do that unless you have seen a thing or two 9/10 times, one behind one appendix and one Mexican carried in the jacket I think.

Why wouldn't it be? The cybernetics in GitS are made to mimic human anatomy. No cyborg in GitS is 100% nuts and bolts, excluding those with archaic prosthetics. Refer to chapter 05 of the original manga for Shirow Masamune's explanation of cyborg creation. The half-finished model there is made to be anatomically correct, with synthetic muscle. It's not too much of an assumption that there would be synthetic blood.
