Reason for seeing rim on front right tyre sometimes in the video. We had a deep puncture on day 1 evening while negotiating the massive traffic jam entering Udaipur. Hence changed over to spare wheel. As the spare isnt a space saver, we decided to drive on this to Mumbai. The same has been mentioned in the video :-)

    Fantastic....!
With the changing times regulations, technology has been a boon. I have always driven diesels as I travel almost 3000 kms monthly. So now this kind of Hybrids are a ray of hope for people like me. But still the total cost of ownership is much higher than the frugal diesels. Lets see if that can come down with more quantities produced.

Impressive task completed but I as a Swift user can say while driving alone the mileage is really good but once I ride with full capacity i.e. 5 persons in all and with a pretty decent luggage, then the mileage drops to 20-22 kmpl. I hope Grand Vitara does really well. And thanks a lot for such a courageous test.

Yeahh my nexon petrol manual moves 950-1000 kms giving a mileage of 22 km/l maintaining the speed of 80-90 with 5 people and a luggage.....and i will probably get 1200 kms in ine tank in city mde ...and in eco mode probably 1400 kms if i drive alone .....seems unrealistic but it's true even with turbo and having a weight similar to the grand vitara even with battery weight and a bigger size.....and ofc the weather in cold a car gives more mileage 10-20% as compared to summers

Here many factors need to be considered.
The drive was done to extract optimum mileage.
The road condition was a good maximum time of the span.
A/C was turned down during the whole drive.
These conditions are not going to meet for most people even on the interstate highway of 500 km run. In summer you can't expect someone to turn OFF the A/C and have a run of 1436 km.
Plus there is a hell of a safety issue with MARUTI SUZUKI.
Every time economy should not be a concern.

Nice but real world mileage with fully packed car will mostly be in 25kmpl range. Assuming a mere 15kmpl from the regular Vitara the fuel costs saved (approx 3.5L INR at 2024 prices) over a lifetime(1.2L kilometers in 6 years) is still not enough to cover the 10 Lakhs INR premium we pay for the strong hybrid 😢😢😢. Need tax cuts back for the strong hybrid for them to make economic sense to the normal buyer. Otherwise only Taxi ppl might buy this strong hybrid 😮

So basically not only was there only one occupancy (highly unlikely for such long drives) but the car was also stripped to its bare essentials to get this range, as can be seen from the fact that steppeny change also had to happen in the workshop, and you were not carrying even the spare.

Prabhav, this was a record under test conditions, not under standard conditions as mentioned by Bunny.
We don't think you saw the full video. If you would have seen, you would know that Bunny mentioned that tyre got a deep cut on day 1 evening and hence had to be replaced with Stepney.

I have been seeing Mr Bunny doing these fuel economy runs since a long time. I always admire his patience 😅 Sir, how do you do these journeys without getting drowsy? Setting cruise at 100 for an hour makes me feel drowsy! I will just turn it off and start driving normally so that I will not sleep! How are you driving for that long with cruise set at 70! Please let us know!

Absolutely it might be too tiring to ride constantly at 70km/h🤣 even taxi wale rides sometimes at higher speeds in a highway
and by the way these figures will never come in real no one travel alone in such a long run
If u run a mileage test atleast 4 people on board with luggage and drive normally to get actual mileage figures, I gueworld might be around 20-22km/L in real world.

@@urankul I do travel 1000 kms alone in single stretch, but never put cruse ON & try to keep speed at 100kmph & getting 24+kmpl.
Though I am having a diesel. If I drive my diesel this sedately I can get the same average 30+kmpl on highways.

One of the main reasons behind sleepy driving is that many of us (an average Indian male age 26+) suffer from some form of improper sleep (Look up Sleep apnea). I personally felt a lot of improvement in my long drive attentiveness after I acknowledged and worked towards my improper sleep and breathing cycles. It worked for me and may work for you. :)

It is not possible to drive at 70 km/hour on highway as co passenger will go berserk.Normally speed will go to 120 130 on very good stretch and 100 on good stretch. The average will therefore reduce accordingly. But one thing is sure.Hybrid is the answer for Indian cars.Go for it.

Wow, this is such a practical option, way better than electric. We need to do the transition from hybrid to electric/hydrogen, govt needs to offer gst relief to hybrid as much as electric. Imagine how efficient these cars will become when Maruti Suzuki introduces flex engines in their cars.
