    The only place that you are making more power is in the additional RPM range....other than that the Speciale is KILLING IT. No replacement for displacement!!! If they hardened that motor to run the additional rev's it would be off the chart. Sorry but I believe that the Speciale would have an insurmountable lead in 90% of the smackdowns and the only time the V4R will be able to skywalk is in the VERY VERY top end runs. THe Speciale has 15-20 hp advantage for 85-90% of the meat of the rev range!! Thats INSANE!!! In a straight line the Speciale is gonna kill it, but on a track where you can stay in that gear and stay on the power without shifting would make the V4R superior as the track isnt all about acceleration, its about maintaining speed and maintaining momentum. Great video IB!!! THanks for sharing!!!

      You're exactly right Sir! ❤️✔️💪

    • @Turbo329
      @Turbo329 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Speciale beats it on the track too. 7000rpm coming out of a corner and it's a drag race to the next corner. Speciale wins everywhere unless the straight is long enough to reel it back in.

    • @5up614
      @5up614 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Turbo329 only thing I did notice is exiting out of a corner but of course not on slicks the speciale struggles to get traction and put that torque down which upsets the chassis. I have heard the v4r is much smoother on corner exit which in that case could be faster 😉

    • @Tracked350Z
      @Tracked350Z 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But alas, the problem with adding displacement and revs becomes a big piston speed deal. You won't rev the 1103 as high as the 998.

    • @redrider0151
      @redrider0151 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Turbo329 If I had to guess I would say that the additional rev range will allow the R to not have to shift and will be able to maintain more momentum and "smoothness" on the track...but its just IMHO...I liken it to riding the curves with friends who have inline 4's when I had my RC51 (showing my age here), as while they were playing with gears I was basically able to just leave mine in 4th gear and power around pretty much anywhere, never shifting and just concentrating on my line...which made me a TON faster... Anyhow, its not going to matter, as you arent going to see them together on a track in competition unless they bring back Formula USA!! LOLZ Its the sole reason Ducati even made the thing....in order to be able to race 1000cc.

    The Best way to Compare Hp maps by the two engines is to use percent of peak engine speed. Hence, both Hp maps will end at the same place and thus give a better comparison between the two. Torque, however is a little different. Since a Higher revving engine can be geared lower to reach the same speed, torque can be increased by gearing. Again, if both engine torque maps are done by percent engine max speed instead of rpm, then the higher revving engine's torque should be increased by multiplying percent increase of lower revving engine. Example: if one engine revs 20% higher than the other engine, than its entire torque range should be multiplied by 1.2... comparing engines by revs alone, is like comparing apples and oranges... That's why the "R" may have looked less potent than the "S"...

    One thing I noticed here is that the V4R was tested in 5th gear. Maybe that's a dyno speed limitation but it's got an extra 500 rpm available in 6th which would no doubt add some ponies to that chart assuming the curve doesn't go flat (which I highly doubt).

    At 09:50: Incorrect. Gearing doesn't change power, true. However it does change torque.
    Power = Torque • RPM • Constant.
    If torque increase and power remains the same RPM has to decrease.
    Thus, yes gearing can fix that as what it would do is, itwould make the panigale R to make the same power as before, but at fewer RPM but with more torque.

    650ib. Can you order the Headlight switch from a Ducati European dealer for the 2020 V4R so you can turn of the headlights when you want?
    If so, is it plug and play with the US model?
    I ask because on Manny's video from Motomillion.com his headlights were off on his V4X but his eyebrow lights were on when he started it. So I figured that race switch kit he used did that.
    I want to if the stock switch from Europe would do the same thing

      I've read that the extra 500rpm the factory Yamaha MotoGP team had vs the satellite made the engine life 30% shorter... Sure that might be 17000 vs 17500 or so on a GP bike, but still, 10% reduction on a road bike its still 5-10k miles in some cases. The lack of midrange on the V4R. It's due to the cam design. Being that the V4R is being raced in WSBK with tight restrictions, Ducati really let the hammer down with the V4R. You want more power but want to maintain the same displacement? Add more revs. That cam at 8000 rpm even 10k rpm, is still bleeding off some compression (valve overlap), in order to allow that motor to breathe to 16,500. Doesn't seem like the power tapers off much either up top, so its definitely useable power and not all just overrev.
