- This is my CNC conversion of the ZX45/ZX7045 milling/drilling machine.
To build the controller
I use the SourceRabbit 4-Axis CNC Motherboard
www.sourcerabb...
and Focus - PC Based CNC Control Software
www.sourcerabb...
Stepper Motors:
9Nm Closed Loop stepper motors for X and Y axis
12Nm Closed Loop Stepper Motor for Z Axis
12Nm Closed Loop Stepper Motor for A Axis (I will upload a 4Axis Video soon)
Ballscrews:
20mm DFU ballscrews for X and Y
25mm DFU Ballscrew for Z Axis
Looks good!! Thanks for showing!!
Looks nice! Did you design the SourceRabbit? This is the first time I've seen it. Thank you
Thank you. Yes, I actually build it.
Hello sir, I m wondering what motor did you use for the Z axis? The head looks really heavy, will something like a 10N.m nema 34 would suit this machine?
Also did you add a counterweight at some point? Or changing the spindle motor was enough to lighten the head ?
Hello, I used a 12Nm Nema34 Closed Loop stepper and I also added 2 air pistons to support the head.

Ok I was planning on converting a BF 30, but had an opportunity to buy a cheaper zx7045... Unfortunately all my electronic is dimensioned for a bf30 (closed loop 8NM for x and y , and 10NM for the Z
@@machinistnick thanks
friend, could you tell me which ball screw was used?
the spindle motor is Dc or ac?
Hey Nick, nice machine! Is this the version of machine with larger y travel distances?
Hello, this particular machine has 520x220mm travels
@@machinistnick Thank You!
what are the specs on the ball screw for the z axis?
I use a C7 DFU2505 Ballscrew
@@machinistnick do you remember how long?
@@jameslee522 About 700mm
How does this feel compared
To the zx7016 in terms of cutting steel
You cannot really compare a 375kg machine to a 85kg one... I can only say it is much better
