MR 1 with Rotary Table, first cuts

- This shows a simple job using the rotary table on my Langmuir MR-1. Adding the Sherline rotary table (which I had from a previous project) was the most recent update to my machine. The object being made is just a demo, but isn't possible to make on a 3 axis machine without multiple setups. I'm currently limited to using the indexing 4th axis mode in Fusion 360 -- I will need to look at other software platforms for full 4th axis code generation.
My LinuxCNC configuration can be found here:

If there is interest I can do more of a walkthrough video showing how the control part of the machine works with these updates. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
it's about time you posted a video. Great job!
That was great, Alex. Your machine turned out fantastic.
well done sir, look forward to more videos !
wow your z axis is hauling ass. Did you modify the lead screw or its motor?
Z has the stock leadscrew, but I'm using a Teknic Clearpath servo on it.
None of the electronics on my machine are from the original Langmuir build anymore, but all of the mechanical parts are stock.
@@awetmore did the Teknic Clearpath servos bolt right up or did you need to make new mounts?
@ the x and y ones are NEMA23 just like the stock steppers and just bolted right up. I used a size 34 motor for Z and that one required a new adapter.
I don’t think they would work with CutControl though.
It simplified my electronics enclosure too since the clearpath motors are self contained.
I’ll make a video showing the current electronics.
@@awetmore sweet! I've got 95% of the components to build a cnc lathe. I would love to see your electronics set up. I have a Centroid Acorn board.
I wanted to go with clearpath but didn't have the $ at the time.
@@BeckTools Teknic's Clearpath stuff isn't cheap, but I just waited until some good deals showed up on eBay.
I'll work on that video next.
Very impressive Alex. That spindle sounds fast! What's the max RPM?
Thanks Alistair. It has a max speed of 16k RPM, and I think was running at 12k RPM with the endmill.
