The headlights you bought were not faulty, the module you swapped over is the TMS module which is specifically coded to your car and controls the function of the DRLs (day time running lights) which are the angels and the top light strip. The new TMS module which came on the headlights you bought would have needed coding to function on your car but they are most likely not faulty. Its lucky you had your own one to swap over and avoid the need for coding! Great video as always, car looks great!

Great work! The first step to a headlight swap is removing wheels and fenderliners completely. This takes 5-6 minutes a side and saves you alot of time and frustration. When removing the bumper you should also mark the bumper holes beneath the hood so when reinstalling alignment is much easier. And using and extension for the t30 headlight bolt solves access issues. This swap with coding takes me under 45 minutes now since I've done a few already for friends but is definitely harder the first time. The headlight uses led modules to power the angel eyes and brows and those are coded to your car. You cannot use modules from another car since they are attached to another vin. Final look is awesome and looks so much more agressive!

Hey man do you know if the inner light closest to the grill ever come on, not the angel eyes, mine never seem to come on i would of thought they worked with the high beam.
Tommy, I love how you tackle these jobs that I'm terrified to do myself. This one looks like maybe the most difficult of your DYI's. That said, knowing what you know now, would you do it again or pay professional to do it for you? I absolutely love the lights...I too suffer from the same dilemma. Any plans to do the rears? I thought about it...its much easier and less expensive, but i actually prefer the look of the 2015's.
Option1 Marketing I would absolutely do the installation myself. I would still pay the professional to disassemble the headlamps and do all the painting

I think most use matte black paint because of reflections. Do you have any reflective issues with light bouncing off the gloss surface? They do look good though and match your schema well 👍

This looks absolutely awesome and tasteful, glad you went with the stock look of the angel eyes. But there sure is some aligning left for you to do with the bumper and also, it seems to me that there is a bigger gap between the kidney grill and the headlight on the driver side than on the passenger side so you might wanna look into that. Otherwise, great job! Nothing better than getting some work done on your car by yourself, especially when the results are so good. BTW. I think that "complicated" nut is there for alignment since the outer part can be screwed in and out.

I have an M2 so the procedure may not be the same but this gives me an idea of what's involved. I enjoyed your video. PS: As meticulous as you seem to be, I'm sure you noticed this as well... The bumper doesn't seem perfectly aligned. The gap between bumper and hood seems to be wider on the driver's side.
It makes a big difference it looks really well!.. I have the m4 the car is pearl white and has the silver lights and I hate it lol the black looks so good!!😬👍

Coding yes. And only 2015-2017 had the upper brow. 2018-2020 didn’t.
