Hey! Nice vid! Moussakás is not lasagna. Lasagna is pasta, moussakás basically is consists of layers of sautéed eggplant, minced meat (often lamb or beef), tomatoes, and onions, topped with a creamy béchamel sauce, and then baked until golden brown. Keep up good work 👍🏻😊

Now try the other 10.000 Greek dishes. Don't ever tell me you don't try any of them. PS. Everything looks perfect what you ate. But just saying. You are missing out on 99.9% of dishes still. You have no idea. And Im not lying. Greece has over 25 local cuisines. And just the Politiki Kouzina is the cooking of old, or the cooking of the city referring to Greek Byzantines Constantinople, which was the longest lasting medieval empire on earth 300-1453AD. And so just the politiki kouzina consiste of thousands of dishs. Add the other many local cuisines, among which Cretan, Athos, Ikarian, Naxian, Cycladic, North Aegean, Ionian, Corfiot, Epirian, etc etc. and you will have a Greek cuisine that is endless dishes for a lifetime.
Also. You eat classical Greek salad. but there are 1001 salads in Greece in every crazy flavors, palettes and so on. A good Greek summer salad is wonderful. But so is a Cretan salad. And so are a tsunami of others.
Also. The real dish in Greece that >> Lasagna is Pastitio. Pastitio consists of layers of pasta, minced meat, bechamel. However. The flavors are deeper and richer, much more fragrant. And that is because in every layer there is more going on than in traditional lasagna. So every piece in your mouth will change over your tongue over time in terms of flavor experience with well done pastitio.
Moussaka is it's own thing. It's a layered dish, like a Pastitio. But the Pastitio would be the Greek "lasagna" but way better. Every Greek will say this putting 2 hands in the fire without any doubt out of confidence.
    And yes. Baklava is Greek.
However there is a silly debate going on between Turks and Greeks on who did it. But the official coined dish for Baklava is from Ottoman palace. But there are many things wrong here. First of all. Many cooks in the Ottoman palace where Greeks. And whoever rules (look at Putin) blatantly lies and completely creates own narrative even when the truth is the opposite. Second of all. Anatolia was full with millions of Greeks when Ottoman Turks managed to beat the Greek byzantine empire.
So. Putin can defeat Kiev and take out Zelenski, but you can't transform 35 million Ukrainians into Russians. And back when Ottoman Turks defeated the Greek byzantine empire, there where still 12.000.000 (12 million) Greeks. For thousands of years, with thousands of years of cooking. Whereas the Ottoman turks where nomadic people and only numbered 100.000 when conquering the Greek lands of Anatolia (today called Turkey since 100 years). So Greek people where Turkified into becoming Turkish by changing language and religion. But the cooking is all Greek. The dishes where all Greek and Turkish cuisine is entirely based on that, and based on the millions of Greeks that became "Turkish" and with it the immense list of Greek dishes that also became part of Turks and Turkish cuisine.
Lastly and more importantly even. There are 2 or 3 very similar to nearly identical layered dough dishes with nuts, spices and honey already existent in the greek Byzantine Empire way before any Turkic nomad ever set foot in Anatolia. And way way before that even in Ancient Greece.
So basically on 3 major aspects is the likelyhood that Baklava is Greek or for the vast majority Greek being 100x in favor of Greece.

Great critique thank you!! Follow up question. Do you think we covered the most famous dishes? Or are there others that are more popular?
Or is it just totally region dependent?
We’ll consider changing it to “Athenian” food tour! Hope you enjoyed despite our naivety! 😅😂

      @Ptolemy336VV หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@WyattandReyka You only covered some of the most famous dishes to the people who know little or near nothing about Greece. Then you covered "everything." And this is sarcastically meant.
But If you want to cover what for Greeks most "famous" dishes are (to the world), then you have a way to go.
Also this can be anything and be different across Greece. People in Ikaria eat plenty Ikarian local dishes. So if you ask them what is for them famous, it will be different than for Cretans, and so on. But dishes like Pastitio or Soutsoukakia are 100% part of famous dishes for Greeks. Fava is close to heart also, which is most famous from Santorini.
      "Santorini's fava".
I mean. I feel that when I start saying things I can say so many. Greeks love many dishes. It can be Pantzaro salata all the way to complex dishes like Giouvetsi, or Kleftiko, or Stifado, etc. Another thing people like are more snack like, but elevated, which is Giaourtlou kebab. Other real tasty sauces Greeks like are Taramasalata, Tyrokafteri, melizanosalata, and so on. Also while you're at it in a reastaurant, when they happen to have a pita on the menu, then choose them sometimes too.
And with Pita I don't mean the Pita gyros which basically means a wrapped pita with meat which in this case would be Gyros. There are many many versions.
But Pita is also the same name for a whole differernt world. And those are Greek pies. Pita therefor can be 3 things.
      a. Pita = Pita bread
      b. pita = pita gyros, pita souflaki, pita arni, pita kebab, pita soutsouki, pita etc, etc,etc
      b. pita = pie. ANY pie. There are thousands. So if you see in a restaurant also a pie on the menu then choose them while you ordering diverse different things.
Like Kotopita (chicken pie), manitaropita (mushroom pie), kreatopita (minced meat pie), hortopita (herb pie), and endless others. Many restaurants have their own family/version of any pita type and can be very delicious.
So. Without going crazy with countless names (I can give many), the names mentioned here are very very common for Greeks to eat.
And the biggest advice I can give you is stop thinking like a foreigner and what you think you covered for the foreign people from the knowledge of foreign people, which basically is nothing. I have seen 1 million youtube videos about Greece. And they are either incredibly culinary. OR they are, like yours, nice/good/great, but cover literally Greek salad, Moussaka, Pita Gyros, Tzaziki, and that is it. They are all tasty. But it's just a fraction of a fraction of the cuisine.
PS. if it is your first time in Greece ,then wonderful. They are all great. And you will eat them many more times. I do too. Just saying. But think more like a Greek. What I do is. wherever in Greece I go, I order like from 3,4,5 different types of dishes in a restaurant. Like example. 1x fava (yellow split pea), 1x kotopita (chicken pie), Pantzarosalata (beetroot sala) and then anything else. Like something meat, something purree/sauce/ something salad. And another time something rice (prasoriso, or gemista, or gamopilafo, etc, etc, with another crazy salad, maybe zucchini balls, or feta saganai fried with sesame+honey or other versions. And a eggplant dish. And another time you can do a potato dish with other contrasting things. And another time you can try Giouvetsi or Pastitio or Makaronia me kima, or garidomakaronia, other pasta dishes and combine them with something like another tasty unknown salad.
Just keep trying different, contrasting, differing things, with different color palletes, different directions on the same table. You will then find out endless new things in Greece, as this goes on an on.
So those are my 2 cents on it. You can do as you like ofcourse. But this would be my few, so that you can have the mindset how to get as many tasty dishes from Greece aside of the dishes you already know

Trying too hard to make your "gurme propaganda" to look more intellectual?..
Your "historical analysis" are also bullsh*t.. But no surprise since the average brainwashed greek is more indoctrinated than a north korean..
Anatolia has been called "Turchia" originated from Italian language by western europeans as early as 12th century, meaning "the land of the turks".. the country took its name directly from the nation, not the other way around.. but there was no greece on any world map until the 19th century..
if you were assimilated, you wouldn't still be speaking greek, be christian and barking your propaganda even after a thousand years later..
the latin crusaders gave an irreversable damage to istanbul with their pillaging, looting and killing on their way to jerusalem in 12th century.. thats why prior to ottoman conquest, the city was at its peak of decline with not a dense population.. thats why sultan mehmed issues decrees to repopulate the city regardless of religion..
the existence of turks did not begin in 1071 or with seljuks and ottomans in asia minor.. they existed under various names long before..
There is no such thing as byzantine either.. it is a made up name by western historians.. it was east rome.. which was governed by non-greek dynasties..
there was never a greek nation in anatolia.. it was an identity based on orthodoxy.. anyone who was baptized was considered greek..
what you call a modern greek today is nothing but orthodox albanians/arvanites, vlachs/romanians, slavs, turks (karamanlides) etc.. even the majority of liberators in your so-called independence war were albanians.. why is your national costume foustanella is albanian too?..
so, there is nothing ancient about you.. the number of true hellenes were not clear and most of their linear descendants did not survive the roman conquest..
Baklava, musakka, gyros (döner), lokum, helva, or "lukumades" ( lokma ).. are also turkish.. oh, and what you serve as greek coffee is also turkish..
Only the average American will buy into your fabricated historical propaganda which you are so confident about spitting..
the word "greek" also meant "cheater/thief" in french larousse in the past.. after the world war 2, greek government objected and it got removed.. no wonder why.. Now, shut up or keep crying with your bullsh*t..

      @winterwolf34 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@DunyaLideri-lj3ly Nice propaganda Turk. Now let's debunk all these claims.
First of all, Anatolia is a Greek name, it means land of the east. Second, no, Anatolia was not called ''Turchia'', the whole Ottoman Empire was called ''Turchia'', so the word Turk was an exonym, the Ottomans themselves never called themselves Turks, 'Turk' was used as a slang by the Ottomans to refer to 'mountain nomads' who they looked down on. The Ottomans were muslims, that's what their identity was. It was Mustafa Kemal that decided to create a nation called Turkey in the early 20th century, basically gathering every Turkish-speaking Muslim, genociding the Armenians, Greeks Assyrians and Turkifying the Kurds and the many other nations of the land that is today called Turkey. Also, Mustafa Kemal basically purged every Iranian and Arabic word and studied the language of the actual Turks so that's how the language you speak today was made. Not only your nation was created in the 20th century, but your language also.
Thirdly, if you want to use the exonym of Turkia because that's what the westerners called you, well I have a surprise for you. Guess what the westerners called Ρωμανία; (Which is the real name of the ''Eastern Roman Empire''), Imperio Graecerum, yeah, ''Empire of the Greeks''. The Byzantines started calling themselves Greeks from the begging of the 13rd century onwards, they already spoke Greek, were Greek orthodox and basically have the same traditions as the modern Greeks, who called themselves 'Ρωμιοί' just like the Byzantines until the creation of the nation-state. So, if you want to use the incredibly stupid argument ''There was no Greece on any world map until the 19th century'', then with that logic, there was no Turkey on any world map until the 20th century. Also, which Byzantine dynasty exactly was non-Greek? All the dynasties from the 7th century onwards were Greek with the exception of two Armenian and one Isaurian one.
''if you were assimilated, you wouldn't still be speaking greek, be christian and barking your propaganda even after a thousand years later..'' Yes, we that survived were not assimilated, after all our revolutions against the Ottomans, guess who did assimilate, thousands of ''Turks'' who have Greek DNA and now consider themselves Turks, half of you are Muslimized Janissaries from all the Christian nations of the Balkans. What, did you actually think that you are Turks? Just look in the mirror, it's not that difficult.
''the latin crusaders gave an irreversable damage to istanbul with their pillaging, looting and killing on their way to jerusalem in 12th century.. thats why prior to ottoman conquest, the city was at its peak of decline with not a dense population.. thats why sultan mehmed issues decrees to repopulate the city regardless of religion..''
Yes the crusaders heavily damaged Constantinople (Istanbul is the Turkified version of the Greek ''Εις την Πόλιν'', there was no Istanbul back then, Istanbul only exists as an official name after the creation of Turkey in the 20th century), and no the sultan Mehmed ussed decrees to repopulate the city because he had just slaughtered all its 50,000 defenders and plundered, sacked and massacred the population
''There is no such thing as byzantine either.. it is a made up name by western historians.. it was east rome.. which was governed by non-greek dynasties..'' Not true, if you could actually read Greek you would know that. The Byzantines themselves called themselves 'Ρωμαίοι or Ρωμιοί' but many of the citizens of Constantinople identified as Byzantines as an archaic term becauese that was the ancient name of the city. Also Eastern Rome, is also a made-up term. It was called 'Ρωμανία'.
''there was never a greek nation in anatolia.. it was an identity based on orthodoxy.. anyone who was baptized was considered greek.. '' Yes there was, we just called ourselves 'Ρωμιοί', along with calling ourselves Greeks from the 12th century onwards. If you knew your Ottoman history you would know about the Rum millet.
''what you call a modern greek today is nothing but orthodox albanians/arvanites, vlachs/romanians, slavs, turks (karamanlides) etc.. even the majority of liberators in your so-called independence war were albanians.. why is your national costume foustanella is albanian too?..'' Okay, this is just hilarious coming from a Turk. Again, just look at the mirror. The actual Altai Turks would laugh at you. Greeks have been proved to share 90% the same DNA with ancient Greeks and Byzantines. And 70% of the Greeks spoke Greek, the rest did speak Arvanite, Vlach, Slavic etc. and they assimilated. I also like how you use Albanian propaganda to support your claims. Around 20% of those who fought against the Ottomans in 1821 were Arvanite speaking, not the majority lol , and they were not Albanians because they identified as Arvanite-speaking Greeks. Do you know who they mainly fought besides the Turks? Muslim Egyptians and Muslim Albanians (yeah, the actual ancestors of the Albanians). Foustanella is neither Albanian or Greek, it was worn by most Christian Balkan people for centuries and it is a continuation of Byzantine clothing.
''Baklava, musakka, gyros (döner), lokum, helva, or "lukumades" ( lokma ).. are also turkish.. oh, and what you serve as greek coffee is also turkish..''
Istanbul (Εις την Πόλιν), Ankara (Άγκυρα), Trabzon (Τραπεζούντα), Samson (Σαμψούντα), Izmir (Σμύρνη) are also Greek, you may have Turkified their names but they will always be Greek
Greeks are a nation known for gifting the world thousands of things, democracy, trial by jury, historiography, Greek myths and legends, Geometry, the concept of citizenship, Theatre, the Greek language which is used in some way or form in various fields like economics, politics, medicine etc., Christianity (the Bible was written in Greek and first spread in Greek-speaking cities) with the version of Orthodoxy, Music theory including the tetrachord which became the basis for the maqams used later by the muslims and also the diatonic modes which were later used by western Europe and so much more
What did Turks give to the world? Conquest, Genocide and the Turkish toilet.
