Arknights Story Summarized | Chapter 9: Stormwatch - The Rise of the Setting Sun

- We've waited almost a year for this, but chapter 9 is finally here.
If you've gone over Reed and Bagpipe's files, then you'll probably have a decent idea of what we're heading into, and Chapter 9 will be the primer for the new arc, Shadow of a Dying Sun, and the conflicts that we'll see in Victoria.
While the chapter is mostly stand-alone, there'll be big spoilers near the end. I'll put a warning on the screen, but it's highly recommended to finish Chapter 8 first. Additionally, do please keep in mind that the names for the characters are translated phonetically and the official TL may be different.
Also, Knoll County and County Hillock are the same thing. The former is the one used in the old translations so it's the one I went with.

Wonder how is the doctor's level of development as of now in the recent chapter since the recent chapters are just weeks after he woken up and some events involving him still have him an increase level of intelligence lately. Would be one hell of a twist that Doc planned Talulah's escaped to begin wih.

also mentioned in her Assistant Appointment voiceline, her name is the same with the heroine of her favorite novel(probably Jane Eyre, known as 简·爱 in Chinese)
She took 1 day before the decision choosing codename, after checking this was the correct spelling in Taraish multiple times, mentioned in Archive 2
Dublinn - "深池" (lit. deep/dark lake/pond), first spoken out loud in Reed's voicelines as ダブリン(daburin), spelling given after her release in JP/KR/GL and in 2nd anni pv tease
same pronunciation as Ireland's capital, its Chinese name has the literal meaning as the Irish name that English derived from - "Dubhlinn" (lit. dark pool)
the logo is almost the same as Celtic Triquetra, probably indicating somewhat correspondence with real-world Celts
Tara - "塔拉" (transcription), probably coming from a mountain in Ireland - Hill of Tara(Teamhair in Irish), only a bit northwest from Dublin
it's a ceremonial and burial site from as archaic as neolithic period, an important place in Irish mythology and Irish self-governance movement

Hamilton(汉密尔顿), the Victorian captain, fought to death against Dublinn after throwing bombs yet not worked
Craig(克雷格), the boy with the ball, became Infected in bombing and changed his mind after seeing Saileach fighting for them

I see alot of people here wanting Talulah to join Rhodes. While she's my third favorite character, I do not want them to rush her. Her joining Rhodes this early without any redemption arc would be a real problem since she's committed wayyy too many warcrimes there's no fucking way Kal'tsit would let her in easily. Nine bailing her outta jail frustrates me too, but Kal'tsit probably slipped on purpose. It would be hard to bring a draco to Victoria also specially, because t'was Talulah herself.

Given the origins of Edward Artorius, Talulah's biological father, it was certain that she would get out of her cell one way or another. I'm taking bets that there will be a confrontation between her and the Draco King of Dublin.

Or it's lost in translation, and they mean Theresis. Also, highkey expect shining to be against us as she sorta admitted would probably happen eventually when/if we were coming up against the confessasrius. So, maybe we will actually get an Alter shining in the future where she decides she has to use her sword again for w.e reason.

So Dublinn is gonna turn Victoria into some kinda carnage filled hellscape out a mixture of sheer ambivalence to the people who's acceptance of their rule makes them anything approaching an authority, and their own pride, if they win control of the country.
To top that off, they're maybe a little crazy? Why in the fuck would Reed's sister try to kill her when the army they're fighting attacks the town they're in? It's like her sister was trying to find an opportunity to kill Reed bar fucking none and jumped on an opportunity, or am I missing something?
All I can say is, Dublin has secrets that those commanders don't want to be let out.
But, yes, they're pretty crazy.

I'm really glad that they made the new arc of the main story stand on the foundation of a previous incident, instead of going straight Victoria.
Speaking of Victoria, forgive me on this, but can anyone explain why Rhodes Island is going to Victoria? I've read so much that I completely forgot the details as to why, all I know is Regent Theresis is there, and is aware of Rhodes Island's movements, due to stuffs with Theresa, maybe? I don't remember.
And I'm gonna be honest, they should have made Ace's character introduction the same as Outcast. I mean, for me at least, introducing Ace like that, killing him, then build his character through flashbacks didn't made me won him over. Outcast on the other hand, though was one and go, but at least you see for yourself who she is before killing her.

Maaaaaan I was hoping Talulah would officially join Rhodes Island in the new arc, but I guess we're not getting that anytime soon, huh? Though, I do hope that after what she's going to do in Ursus, kicking Kaschey's undead ass and all that, she'll come back to join Rhodes Island or at least be on their side in Victoria. I also hope that the 'rekindling' she's about to do isn't something that will affect things in a negative way.
By the way, I just found this channel today and I'm so mad that I didn't find it sooner because I love Arknights' lore and it's one of the few games where I actually read the story than just play and roll for waifus. Keep up the good and hard work!
Aye. I guess it's for the best though. There's a lot I want to see of Talulah before she potentially joins as well. Such as a meeting with W and Murdock (ohh boi that's spicy stuff). Heart to heart with Ch'en and interactions with certain ops such as Bagpipe and Hoshiguma who are Ch'en's best friends etc.

Haven't she learnt anything from her previous clash with RI? She can't do anything alone. There's still a chance that Kashchey can take control of her body again, even in chapter 8 last scene, we could see Kashchey still alive inside her.
And now she wants to go back with her former reunion/or maybe alone to ursus?
And what does she mean by rekindle the fire? You mean by creating another reunion movement to counter the infected movement in victoria?
Why she doesnt work together with Rhodes Island? If she really wants to help the infected she already knows that the only organization that still actively help and looking for cure (aside for azazel and rhine lab) is Rhodes Island. I dont get her way of thinking..
Aside for that, what's dublin main goal? Overthrow aslan from ruling victoria? Or what?
And sure rhodes island got caught in the middle of it, and losing operators, but is that the only reason RI will intervene in Victoria? What about siege? She's an Aslan, what's with the connection there?

Perhaps the undead evil she(Talulah) wants to take care of in Ursus is Kaschey? Talulah breaking out is certainly a weird thing and I'll be very curious to see the whole story from her. Siege and the Glasgow gang definitely have a role to play in chap 10. The Manifesto song gives a bit of a hint towards that being the caee. Aye the story is getting spicier and spicier.
The HG lore people need to keep Talulah the way she is otherwise the lore can’t go on without an antagonist (if they make a new antag altogether the story will feel chopped up and discontinuous)
@@papel6280 there will always be another antagonist. Like kal'tsit said after we beat Talulah, Ursus and Yen had their eyes on Rhodes Island, because of reunion.
And also, because before became RI we were Babel, and have connections to Theresa, it means that we will have to cross path with her brother.
And there's also still issue from the sea (from what we know in Skadi's event).

For me Talulah is in the same position as Sasuke at the end of Naruto manga, she can't afford to take RI into her problems. Especially since she has the blood of 41 operators on her hands. This explains why she wants to do things on her own to do penance. At the moment she has no self-esteem left.
Is Mephisto mentioned in this chapter or nah?
I didn't read this chapter since I don't speak Chinese, but from what I understand, this chapter is a just a prologue so maybe he will come up when Rhodes Island starts getting involved.
