Have You had any Earthquakes Mr H?
I heard on the Radio that that Fracking Outfit (Quadrilla I think) had started up and it was causing tremors.

I can't say that I have felt any earthquakes Nonroadusr, but then again I live about 40 miles away from the Cuadrilla gas site in Blackpool which is the one I presume you are talking about? I've only been past it once during a traffic diversion when they closed part of the Motorway. Lots of local hostility towards the site I believe. I may have to get up there for a bimble with my camera if they have started to report earth tremors up that way. 😉

I wonder how Dangerous Corner got it’s name?

Locals didnt know the area was named Hunger Hill until about 20 years ago when they put up the sign.
Theres another area in the fields in Mossy Lea named Blood wash or something like that, its were the brook run red with blood and then theres Courage Low lane.

I haven't heard of the area named 'Blood Wash' or whatever you think it may be called in Mossy Lea Mick, but I've heard of the area known as 'Bloody Mountains' in Wigan which is where 'The Battle of Wigan Lane' is reputed to have taken place during the Civil War and I believe they found some relics from the period when they was excavating to build some new houses on the land.

Wonder where it is now that Haigh Hall has now become a luxury hotel Mick?

I dont know, it was in a glass case with some other pieces from Wigans history
Its been discussed a few time on Wiganworld and non of there members knew what happened to it.

I think your videos are great and after watching them I've visited some of your more interesting sites. Hope you can still find the time to record after the happy arrival of your little hot pot .

Cheers Michael, and thanks for the feedback. 👍 Good to hear that my videos have inspired you to visit some of the sites that I've covered in my videos for yourself and see some of our great history and heritage for yourself. I'm sure there will still be opportunities to get out and about with the camera after little Hot Pot is born just not as many. 😉 All the best.

Nice work Mr H . Sometimes not so little a place either , Blackpool my home town and a favourite of yours I know - getting it's name so the story goes , from the "Black Pool" at the time that was in the "Spen Corner" area as it's known now . And again , why "Spen Corner" - Who , what or why = Spen Corner ?

Interesting stuff regarding how Blackpool got it's name Neil. However I must admit that despite Blackpool being a favourite of both mine and Mrs H that I'm not up to speed on the pre Victorian history of Blackpool when it was still just a relatively small seaside hamlet.

This area of Lancashire has a lot history and interesting little hidden curios Nigel. I get a lot of information for my videos from studying old OS maps which you can view online and them compare them with modern day OS maps.

Missed opportunity for your ancestors Mr H . Imagine all the Hot pots they could have sold to the Vile Royalist, could of made a killing lol Pun intended . Would you Mr H, have been a Royalist or a Roundhead ? I think I may know the answer to that . Where the juffing heck, did they get the name MORE CAMBE from , ald lad ? Pronounced MORECOME. Day out to the seaside perhaps, wink .

    • @MrHsHotPot
      @MrHsHotPot  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I can easily answer which side I would have supported during the Civil War Hurley Flyer 2, I'd have happily been a Roundhead, calling everyone "Citizen" and drinking mead. 👍 I've no idea how 'Morecambe' got it's name and can't even to hazard a guess as name doesn't give away much regarding it's origins. So maybe a trip out to the seaside may have to be in order at some point in the future. 😉

Well in that case Brother Citizen, let me know when your trip to the seaside of Sunny Morecambe would be. In true Lancashire fashion you can buy me a brew lol .

Ha-ha will do Brother Citizen. 😉
