may i ask at 17:15, how does the airplane know what speed should it fly at during final approach? is it the Vref value from the MCDU, and the computer can extract that automatically?

Yes, would like this also, tried doing it just to have a go and it got into a right mess with the AP completely ignoring the flight plan, don't know if I was just doing it wrong or if it doesn't work
Will have a look at it. It can be a bit temperamental at times. Last night I was flying on Vatsim and when I inserted the STAR the plane turned around and started heading back to the departure airport.. the experimental version seems a bit better at managing the flight plan.
Is the process of getting the G/S the same with IniBuilds? Anyway, is it okay even you did not initiate the Active Approach in the FMC? Just push the APP on the front?

@@pablo9364 pretty much. With vertical navigation you will be able to descend in managed mode and be at certain altitudes at certain waypoints calculated in the mcdu. It will also give you a top of descent point

A the beginning (1:55) you say push is managed and pull is selected mode, but I think you made a mistake at the 11:05 mark where you say the opposite (push selected).
Hi. I'm not professional just a simmer but one day a controller on IVAO advised to all present pilots to slowdown our speed around 210 kt approching the final in order to intercept easily the ils localizer. Btw, in my opinion is good to slowdown at least at 220 knots before your last turn for final in order to start the opening of your flaps easily. At 250 knots the warning will quickly inform you that your speed is too high to open flaps

I learned managed is following whats in the MCDU and selected is what the pilot types in. But actually in the tutorial you are manual selecting a new altitude and then always use the managed mode ... The usual culprit is key bindings. People bind keys to wing views and stuff that are also bound to control inputs like rudder for example.. but you mentioned you didn't touch anything so my next guess would be A.FLOOR next time it happens check in the top left corner of the PFD if it says A.FLOOR It's a protection system for the airbus.
A.floor is a protection system preventing your aircraft from stalling. Means you getting too slow. If this is happening during cruise something is slowing your aircraft to a unsafe speed. Could be weather updating incorrectly or something.
Dear friends, I was very carefull during a flight between Reykjavik and Dublin : no A.FLOOR, no any touch on any button, nevertheless the Autopilot disconnected 3 times. I don't understand why.

Hi. I don't have the option of my mouse turning to an up arrow or down arrow to switch between the two modes when moving across the altitude selector. Likewise I can't pull the baro knob to get STD. Is there a setting I need to correct in order for this to work?
I'm sorry but I don't get this autopilot thing it keeps chaning my V/S in to the negatives but tower gave me clearance to climb to FL200 but it's not climing to FL200 instead it only goes up to FL080 then levels out. Edit: I'm a little dumb I did not know you have to click to confirm it.

Pretty easy tutorial, followed every step, but for me the AP is still not working since when I turn it on it says Tcas standby, then a noise starts ringing in the cockpit until I press the master caution button. What am I doing wrong for this to happen? I hope you can help me :)

Autopilot must be in selected mode if you changing it manually ( no dot next to the altitude or speed or heading display) hold your mouse cursor over yhe bottom of the button until you see the down arrow. Click it to use selected mode.

Alright. So far so good. ... But, what if you start from the Runway, the altitude is 1500 feet or above, you push the Autopilot Button 1 and nothing happens. The AP is not engaged, you can push the AP-Button once again, two times, three time ... but still nothing. The same for the Tablet. Impossible to load the Flightplan from SimBrief. If you push the green Button on the Tablet for loading the Flightplan from SimBrief, simply nothing happens ....
@@JJ-pj2kz not sure if that's possible. You can try after setting up your flight plan in the mcdu, see of there's an option to request IFR clearance from the ATC menu.

does anyone else have this problem with FCU where you cannot push or pull the management switches? I am unable to switch between managed and selected modes with fbw a32nx (development version, updated today) I would be so happy to figure out the problem
@@harrysmith1986 My settings for the controls was set to Legacy, as Real Sim Pilot said. I have a gaming mouse with additional buttons, so I set those buttons for pulling or pushing the FCU knobs. You can try it if you want.

You activate the approach, on the before final approach.. and activate approach phase when on final.

Yes if you fill out the approach page in the mcdu perf it will calculate approach speed

Why atc keeps giving you the QNH after the transition altitude. You can't set it while in STD ?

Push for managed. Pull the knob out for selected, enables you to turn the dials for selecting speeds, headings and altitudes. Sorry about that.

How can I bind these push/pull knob actions to joystick/controller buttons? MSFS doesn't list them like "Pull xxx knob".

I did so at 16:13. Pressed the approach button on the FCU

@@alexrox321 loc is for localizer only. If you're doing an ILS you have a localizer and glideslope. APPR arms both loc and g/s

It's the experimental version. You need to update whichever version you are using with the flybywire installer. It's been updated after sim update 6.

Did you set up the mcdu? Autopilot will not work without all the entries into the mcdu. Even when using selected modes

No, you just set the throttles fully forward to the TOGA detent.

@@JJ-pj2kz not sure if that's possible. You can try after setting up your flight plan in the mcdu, see of there's an option to request IFR clearance from the ATC menu.

My A32NX doesnt let me push pull a fkn thing. WHen I hover over the knobs, it just turns blue and only lets me turn it. Cant push or pull.
In MSFS go to general options-accessibility-cockpit interaction system- set it to Legacy.

I can't fly with the Airbus A320Nx, with the autopilot, before starting the flight, a message appears, A320nx, ALERT, ENSURE YOU HAVE TURNED Off ALL Assistance functions
What's the function of autopilot 2 please
It does the same thing as AP1. It just backs up the other one. Either can be used but both are required for an autoland.

@@harrysmith1986 My settings for the controls was set to Legacy, as Real Sim Pilot said. I have a gaming mouse with additional buttons, so I set those buttons for pulling or pushing the FCU knobs. You can try it if you want.
