    It seems they got the right people on the project. In my opinion, a lot of this detail isn't hard, it just takes a lot of time. Time that is usually compensated for with money. I'm pretty sure they've been working on this for at least 3 years? But with the free modeling tools of today and the mass of people involved in FBW, I am not surprised they managed something of this caliber. Not to discredit the work, but to emphasize that it's possible with community sourcing and good management, and that their work is stellar.

    • @holobolo1661
      @holobolo1661 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Also a credit to the teams collaboration and communication skills. Very easy for things to go sideways in a group of people without HR, behavior policies etc, especially when passions are involved. It's a credit to the team's professionalism that AFAIK there has been little to no drama.

    • @strangerdanger1012
      @strangerdanger1012 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of the main things is that the people who worked on this project (and others) did it because they genuinely WANTED to. It wasn't some job or a work project where you have management pushing deadlines on you and in situation where $ usually has more priority. In this case, it's a free product, being worked on simply because the people that did it love what they do and had the passion for the project. Lot of the contributors did it on their off time from their real world jobs/obligations.
      What it really shows is what the product can be if the people working on it have true passion for it, and don't just treat it like a job or a paycheck. Prime example of that is the monstrosity that is the Aerosoft A330 CEO. Almost a million euros supposedly and look at what they released.

    • @hanzala553
      @hanzala553 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% credit goes to the team, but man fix the engines power like fenix a320 or just copy its code/files to make it look more realistic, its the only thing that needs work imo

    • @holobolo1661
      @holobolo1661 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@hanzala553 dude... it's an alpha of a freeware. it's in an incredibly polished state considering. And that is not the only thing that needs work at all, but it doesn't matter. Be grateful they released an alpha or you'd still be waiting. And you can still just wait if it's not ready for your standards.

    • @horrido666
      @horrido666 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Actually, it is hard. Hard like playing a violin is hard. It might look easy, but its not. Knowing the modeling tools is considered the challenging part. They are not as user friendly as you are accustomed to.

    Wonderful showcase of the FlyByWire A380X. Many thanks. Incredible work from the FBW team. I flew this yesterday, but unless your hardware has been upgraded you will struggle in the 8K version, users beware !. There is a big FPS hit initially. You will need a beefy CPU and GPU for the 8k version to make headwind in some of the more detailed airports. VRAM usage is very high even on the 4k version, well over 80% at some points for me. Apart from that this is truly amazing for a freeware product. I am sure that in the coming months we will see continued updates to further improve upon this Alpha release. Thank you.

    As always, I got from your video 2 or three tips that make the difference. Yesterday, I was trying the A380 and found many issues, but most of them were on me. In addition, I was dealing with hardware issues, but those were related to my recent update to 24H2 on Win11. The update makes my Eclipses hardware with driver error messages. I had to delete and install those again, and that was all. Sorry for being out of topic, but I just want to say thanks for your excellent videos, and keep going!
    Another thing is the usage of GSX. It was tough for this fellow to find a parking lot. I ended up updating the GSX config file, but to do that, I had to use another plane, as using the A380, I wasn't able to enter the GSX config page.

From all the videos I have seen of the FBY A380, the takeoff time takes about 30 seconds before reaching V1, It seems to me that an A380 should take much more time than a 747 before leaving the runway... Nice breakdown. By the way, the missing textures have nothing to do with your "camera setup." They are actually areas of the plane that are simply not modeled yet. It highlights the "alpha" state of the project. There is actually a sign in one of the forward galleys that says the cabin is still a WIP.

    I am not an Airbus fan, not that Boeing has been doing anything to endear themselves to me lately, but I do recognize quality, and this A380 is for sure the highest quality. That said, I noticed that when I view the model in the hangar, that the nose wheel is fully deflected to the left and the rear bogies are also fully deflected for a left turn. Don't know if anyone else has seen this or not.

    What a great video! I'm busy as ever taking notes, but may I ask a quick question... When taxing straight into a tight turn (e.g. after push back) do pilots ever use asymmetric thrust? Maybe I spent too long driving twin engined boats, but it seems the intuitive thing to do to reduce stress on the front landing gear/tyres?

    Thank you for another excellent video! Your enthusiasm for sim and aviation shines through as always!
    I'm curious to know if you had the option to move to the A350 or A380 (not that there are too many of those around) before your switch to the 787?

      Thank you for your kind words! It is never a simple process to choose an aircraft to fly, mostly it is dictated by the airlines needs and what your airline flies or if you are going to change airline! I would happily have flown the 787/380/350!

    Does the Brake to Vacate feature require a Navigraph sub? Because you cannot zoom into the taxiway chart without one I think.

    In MSFS, I think a liner shouldn't fly without 'Shared Cockpit'.
    Find a co-pilot.
    Probes on nose are sensors. They bend in the breeze. Wind vector can be determined from the three. Side Slip Angle.

      I am sorry there have not been any livestreams, I would love to do one but I am getting very little time at home and orgnising them has proven far more difficult than expected. I am pleased to still be getting videos made and will return to streams when I can!
