Thank you for making this video - very helpful! I just tried to take off my passenger front door and its sticking in the middle but all of my screws are out, any idea what might be grabbing the dead center of the panel? I am trying to replace the mid speaker by the door handle, does that unscrew from the back of the panel or the front?
Hi, thank you for watching/subscribing. Make sure you have the T20 screw removed from behind the inner door handle. There is a locking pin in the center of the door panel, should just release as you pull the panel away from the door. As far as the speaker, I believe (could be wrong) the speaker comes out from the front so the screen in the front should be removed.
@@jhow3d688 My apologies I don't think I have ever had to replace any of those mid speakers and there's probably not much info out there on how to remove it. From what it looks like the speaker is mounted in the door panel from the front. Screen and the trim piece around the interior door handle may have to come apart as one piece to gain access to that speaker. Only just removing the screen may not give you full access to that speaker. Yes, it is plastic welded to the panel. I would take a soldering iron and just melt the edges of those plastic pins inwards in the back (when reinstalling just melt the edges back outwards). You can see the 2 different color plastic pins. Remove/melt the lighter colored pins first & see if that will loosen up just the screen or maybe the trim and go from there. When going back together you can always use trim glue & self tapper screws for the fit. Let me know how it goes, meanwhile I'll try to find an old door panel & see if we can use it for dissection. Thanks
Once you get the panel off there are a bunch of plastic melted rivers on the other side that you will have to drill out in order to access the midrange speaker. I used a half inch diameter drill bit to do this and went slow. Once you do that the grill will release and you can remove the speaker. The speaker and the grill come out from the interior side. If you are replacing with a stock midrange it’s a direct swap from this point. If you are using an aftermarket you’ll have to make an adapter to fit the stock hole pattern. For reassembly rather than dealing with melting plastic I used 1/4 x 5/8 screws and washers to screw everything back together again.

@@JSFautoPlus Thanks much. Do you have to drill out the rivets on the back of the door card to remove the screen on the front?
