This past saturday, played the best round of my life thanks to your videos. It may not sound like much to some, but I broke 100 for the first time with a 95, it felt great. I was crushing my woods, getting clean hits on my irons and if I chipped/putted at the same level I probably could have shot 85. That's the good part. The bad part is I went to the range yesterday and it's like I forgot how to swing... I'm pretty sure this video is why. Very timely Shawn!
Great video. At the top of the backswing is your weight balanced between the back of your foot and (assuming you raise your heel), on the front part of your foot?? Thanks
Love your videos you have helped me make better contact. I’ve never had good distance and I think it’s because I don’t snap my wrists at contact. How can I learn to snap my wrists at contact with the ball. Thanks in advance. Tony K

You mention weight 60/40 to the lead foot at setup. How does the weight change as the backswing progresses. I am trying to keep the 60/40 throughout the backswing but it feels unnatural. Is the weight from the lead foot less than 60% in the backswing?
Hi Tom, the weight will shift into the backswing about 70-30 in favour of the back foot; then come back. The majority of the weight is moved by the weight of the arms moving around the body. See all my “weight shift shawn clement” videos! 👍😀
In Savy’s setup,, what is she doing just before she hits? Why does she make this move? It involves her hips or shoulders, not sure which. I also notice how her trail arm is almost diagonally across her body to reach her lead hand. Why does Savy do that? I am trying to do what she is doing but need to understand the whys of it. Thank you for your lessons.
Hey Tom! Yes, this is because she is getting ready to stay braced against her target to prevent sway in the backswing; see “feel the braced tilt shawn clement” part 1 and 2; oldies but goodies!
Just curious since I've followed you for years and seen your daughter's transformation. Is she trying to qualify for Q school or she is already there? Thanks all the best
At the op of the backswing, when the weight is loaded on the lead foot and it is the moment when the transition starts, which part of the body gives the trigger for hips rotation? Is it the trail knee? Or maybe the trail foot? Thanx
Hey team! You’re talking about some things that remain mysteries to me! But I’m pretty sure some of my problems are buried within. Staying with that strong grip has continued to help my irons and not help hybrids or driver at all. I’ve done the drills I remember - hitting with feet together, perpetual motion, walking, and two-swing. I cannot affirm I’m doing those right though. My main problem is hitting thin, sometimes badly so. I did have some modest return to moderate success by the more neutral grip on the long clubs. Thanks for these videos - they give me hope!
No worries, some need to close the face or strengthen the grip more and some need to weaken the grip or close the face less with the woods; depends on the design and if they are draw biased or have more torque in the shafts. What matters is when you swing into your targets, that the ball flies the way you want it to.
I have a question if you seem to be making great contact and hitting the ball straight and I mean strip the fairway but I can only hit my driver controlled swing 200 yards, mind you I'm 38 and in pretty good shape.... Do I just need a new driver at this point or is it my weight shift? I mean I'm only 5-9 so I'm shorter but I'm strong.... I think 🤔 😂
Hey Marc! Definitely sounds like you are short of your potential! See “throwing the club shawn clement” and then see “predict solid contact and direction shawn clement” and “how to put the ball in the way of your swing shawn clement” and finally, “driver speed and smash shawn clement” and see how that does. If the club is closed enough and you are swinging THROUGH THE BALL, you should be getting 240 minimum. Let me know!
Sav is at 1.8 and Mu is at 14 going to single digit next year as both have little details coming together in their games to bring them through to next level!
@@golflessons fantastic... Sav would be in the top .21% of all females in the US!!! (the average is 27.5) Mu is right at the average index for males in the USA... according to USGA stats.
Having your back facing the target and stepping back towards it in the weight shift requires a lot of trust in what you are doing. This is the BIG TURN you talk about and it works, it really does. I tried it today on the range and added 20 years to my 5-iron.
Savannah looks like Street Fighter Chun-Li with that skirt, but her swing is Top Class. Mu looks like John Daly replica swing Shawn swing looks so weird, like a swing to show someone "how not to swing"
I am crushed…not! You will see some Bubba, Jack, Kenny Perry, Tom Lehman, Phil Mickelson and many more in my swing and I am very happy to play and strike the ball to the level I do. All the important elements of a sound golf swing are there; much more than guys like say Jason Day which you probably love the look of. I have hit more balls in my lifetime than him and have 0.0 issues with my body and still going strong at 56!
A l'aide s.t.p Shawn!
Excuse mon ignorance Shawn! lol!
At 5:54 Savannah's setup position, to me anyway, seems as if it would be very uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, her swing itself is very fluid and smooth and appears to be very effective it's just that large forward press before takeaway seems strange to me. Your setup, hands about even with the inside of your left thigh, and hers, hands actually forward of her right thigh are quite different. Not criticizing, just wondering is all.
hi Gene! What matters is what she is getting ready to do at address; which is to deliver a nice throw through the ball and intermediate point and into the direction she wants the ball to start; so the forward press is all about securing her set up against the target.
BEST TEACHER ON TH-cam PERIOD
Thank you for the kind words Tom! much appreciated! 👌😀👍
Yes!
Throwing the club, well the secret of a good golf swing. Thank you, Mr. Shawn. Ever grateful to you.

Great job! Breaking 100 for the first time or making it the norm is a big deal in golf. You are playing golf now!
Savannah's mechanics are as good as I've ever seen on anyone from any era, congratulations guys.
Thank you Rambo! 👍😀

Hi Shawn, do you have any videos on the braking in the golf swing to increase speed at the impact zone?
