Coincidence because two days after this vid launched to the platform, I, too, went from JFK to SFO for vacation via Delta Airlines. Because it was my first flight in over 20+ years of my life, it was kind of tipsy when taking off and landing from state to state. Then after my vacay was finished, I went back from SFO to JFK, which was shorter. I hope to go back to SF but this time, bringing my whole household since I wanted them to also experience San Francisco.
You are a super videographer!! Love your video!!! I’m from Miami ( MIA ) and hope you come to Miami to filming some of your flights of choice. One of most interesting flight is British Airways A380 LHR- MIA and Lufthansa Boeing 747-8 FRA- MIA
Oh.... six hours .... unbelievable.... wonderful engine view. Will your GoPro overheat, or you remove the internal battery and use the external power source?
I only use external power. The batteries overheat the GoPro in under 30 minutes, and if it doesn't overheat, the battery runs out. It's a lose-lose situation. Additionally, I put a ton of effort and time into planning where I'm going to sit on the airplane to prevent overheating. Basically, I sit on the north-facing side of the plane during daylight hours (because we're in the northern hemisphere and the sun remains more south than north) and either side during night. Also, I face west in the morning and east in the evening. The few times that I mess the planning up, I get the major consequences (camera overheat and failed footage). Thanks for watching!
United had started some JFK routes between LAX and SFO on a twice-daily frequency in February 2021 on Boeing 757-200's because JFK had some unallotted slots at the airport due to COVID route cuts. However, in September of 2022, the airline ended those routes because JFK was unable to provide more slots for them. Now, United just flies to EWR and LGA. This particular flight was a rare upgrade due to multiple 757's across United's fleet being broke and unflyable. So, they subbed in a Boeing 777, which was fine by me! Hope this helps!
It was all an estimate, but I used Flight Aware and tracked the plane as it crossed state lines and did basic math to give an estimate timestamp! Also, I use a GoPro Hero 8 Black to film, and a GoPro brand suction mount. Mahalo!
@@AviationManiak I took a video of the descent and landing of one of my flights. I don't know much about aviation. I looked at Flight Aware. I can see in my video when the wheels hit the runway. How long does it take for a plane to go from 100 feet to hitting the runway? I could count the time backwards to estimate where we crossed the PA-NY border, 42 degrees north latitude on my RDU to SYR flight. I found the Flight Track Log.
@@ts214121 While there is no real "set time" it takes for an airplane to touch down after passing the 100 foot mark, it ranges anywhere between a few seconds to 30 seconds, depending on how far the plane floats down the runway. The way I did my timestamp estimates was to just drag the flight playback bar in line with each state line and then subtracted that time enroute with the total time enroute. I figure you could do the same with yours! Cheers!
100% positive this is JFK. That's the whole reason I got on this flight, and, if you use the tracking link in the description, you'll see for yourself! :)
I'm not doubting you. My Father was a original UA 777 Capt(just retired a week ago) based out of Newark. He was based in JFK for almost 20 years. When CAL took over they shutdown the JFK base. I didn't realize they still had flights out of there.
Happy retirement to your father! Hope he enjoys! United usually flies the 757 transcon into JFK (from LAX and SFO), but due to crew shortages, they upgraded this to a 777. Only time they've ever done it.
@@AviationManiak Thank you for his well wishes. Yeah I asked him about that it was more than likely a "sub-equipment flight". Basicslly what you just said.
Boeing 777’s is a beautiful aircraft and will probably becomes the next “ Queen of the Skies “ when the Boeing 747’s retired. The 777 look like “ The Flying Submarine “ because of the fuselage length 😂😂
Those P&W spools beautifully
Is nobody going to mention the butter landing ?! Awesome video thanks for making these.
Beautiful 777, great footage, I didnt realize they put the ones with the P&W engines back in service, glad they did. love those sounds
Exellent video

Looking nice flying a transcon across the nation. I have do e so many of those flights over the years. Thank you for sharing.
Taat sound is awesome!
What a great flight that was; thanks!
Great video.
Nice shot of MKE @ 2:00:00
Very quick acceleration to rotation... Must be light load.. 35 seconds to airborne
Milwaukee airport (MKE) at 20:08

I have a few Miami videos up! Just search my channel for "Miami" and a few videos should pop up!

@@AviationManiak Cool... anything involving aviation needs good planning ...😁
I thought United only flies out of EWR

That view is insane
How could you identify which states you were flying over? How do you keep the smartphone pointed out the window so steady and well?

Look like Wisconsin-Illinois the flight headed south then head west because Illinois is south of Wisconsin???
It was a very, very small sliver of Illinois that we passed over. Almost considered not adding it at all!
Sure this isn't out of EWR(Newark)?

From one garbage city to the next. Good video!
Mr. Trump, shouldn't you be working on your trial defense instead of watching TH-cam?
@ Howrider65 And which "garbage city" do you live in.......LA???
