0:30 the no.1 advice: gather and sort like items to organise
    0:39 pic room to declutter
0:47 note what is in the room
1:05 gather similar things together in piles, without thinking about what to do with them (start with the largest category, end in smaller categories. For light clean, just do the light catagory, if a big clean, do the large catagory)
1:59 in your categories, ask, does this belong here, or not? (Dirty dishes shouldn't be in the bedroom). Then work on categories that belong in the area it's piled in

Decision fatigue...interesting phenomenon! You can witness many a 'meltdown' by people on Hoarders. I believe now that they actually experience Decision Fatigue from the very get go...I believe they are actually aware of, & imagining, all the decisions they'll be asked to make and begin the process already exhausted mentally.

For sure! It's hard to avoid once the piles get so big! But something to keep in mind for self-care during the process, and it is a process!

It's a good idea if there was some order to a place. But... for hoarders or people that buy a bunch of stuff and just put things down any where and then there's piles upon piles of things you nor they will know if they even have an umbrella so to say. In those situations id say start small in the room like a closet or bookcase or dresser etc. Once they can accomplish those smaller tasks as a warm up they'll also see faster results and get more excited and the momentum going. Plus a lot of the things with in a room probably belong in said closet or dresser or on bookcase etc.

Oh, is this ever real. I get the decision fatigue very quickly. Mine is so debilitating that I can lose days even weeks where I forget what I was doing and have to start all over again.
