    I had a 02 24v 4x4 for my first Cummins and I live in Wisconsin and when it did the high idle on mine I freaked out the first time thinking my engine was bad till I looked it up 🤣it sounds cool on high idle love the sound

    Nothing smells better than a Cummins on a cool crisp morning 🤤 love seeing the exhaust pumping out as well lol 🤙😎💨💨💨

    For those wondering On 24v 5.9s 3 cylinder high idle I believe only occurs when it begins to high idle past 1200rpm so it would be some specific circumstances for it to occur between 800-1200 rpm it idles all 6 cylinders

      Im guessing thats what mine would do, i had no idea id always hit the brake cause it sounded like crap and i thought something was wrong

      Whats the point of a 3 chlinder high idle?

    • @thetexorcist2235
      @thetexorcist2235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@6literfuelaholic655 possibly less cooling oil capacity needed for 3 cylinder instead of all 6 but I really don’t know since normal that idle would occur when very cold I’d assume it would be to have to cool as little as possibly while still warming oil. I generally don’t have much to do with Cummins engines too much so I can’t be sure tho.

      @@thetexorcist2235 makes sense, yeah ive been a 7.3 owner since i was a kid, bought my first 12 and 24 valves had them for a year and scrapped the 12 vakve and sold the 24, keot the 12 vakve engine for when my new 6.0 shits the bed though

      @@6literfuelaholic655 the purpose of the 3 cylinder high idle is to warm up the engine a bit faster and creates higher egt’s by injecting the same amount of diesel with less cylinders

    All you have to do is disconnect the negative battery cable from both batteries and your batteries. As long as they are good will remain at 12 V 12.4,12.6.

    • @johnhersom6002
      @johnhersom6002  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe this feature is enabled on all cummins ECM's....it's just a matter of whether the feature is enabled or not. Mine did not do this until I plugged a Smarty Tuner into it. Once I did that, it started to do it. I enable anything from the smart, all I did was plug the Smarty in and tun it to whatever level I was tuning to and it did it for me. Once I sold the Smarty and put the truck back to stock config, it kept the settings and I still have high idle.

      You honestly think I don’t know that? Now had I called it a “Cummings” then one could assume I didn’t know what I was talking about. Lord have mercy though I can’t believe I referred to them as glow plugs and not grid heater. I usually despise when people do that. My apologies for wording it wrong but I do know that my truck does not have glow plugs.
