I remember back in 2019, there was a huge screen on the roads, that was used for advertisement. When waiting at the intersection with traffic lights, there's a screen on the left above near the traffic light. The ad was about a cigarette brand.
Once the ad ends with a warning sign, the BSOD striked in and I laughed kinda hard. Lucky for me, the traffic light is still red, so I have time to calm myself down and waited until it's green.
    And that's all I got.

I once catched a BSOD inside a train, on those screens that display the next station. They use XP Embedded for that.
Also, on some pre-release versions of Windows 2000 (and Windows ME) there's also a temporary Blue Screen of Shutdown. Now that's what I call a weird way to tell the user to turn off the computer...
And on Windows NT 3.x and 4.0 there's the blue screen of boot, that got replaced with a graphical bootscreen in Windows 2000.

On my old windows 7 desktop sometimes I’d get a BSOD on shutdown (it would just sit forever and ever and ever on the shutdown screen before eventually just blue screening) even after multiple reinstalls of windows so I think it was a hardware issue lol. About four years ago the hard drive gave out which means that might have been the issue but the hard drive didn’t have any other symptoms of decaying which troubles me but idk, it’s fascinating nonetheless

I remember seeing a Windows (98?) BSOD on a big plasma screen at a local mall back in '98 or '99. You know, back when plasma displays cost as much as a small house. That display was set up outside of a music store and would blast out music videos and movie trailers all day long. For the longest time, I assumed it was just playing off of a tape or laserdisc. I remember being completely astonished when I saw the BSOD and realized that there was actually a computer in there playing those vids! I was like, hey why do videos look so tiny and blurry on my PC at home? :P

In 2008 or so, I made a bank ATM crash. (Keep in mind that I was ~13 and it was my first time ever using an ATM.) I got confused by the onscreen prompts, then, when the machine spat my debit card out before I thought I was done with the transaction, I panicked and shoved the card right back in the slot. Voilà! Blue screen of death, then a reboot into Windows XP. The ATM proceeded to hold my card hostage until the bank's business hours started. The best/worst part: pissing off the people who were in line behind me, waiting to use that ATM :,) I got my card back later that morning, and the ATM came through it fine, so it was a small price to pay for a learning experience, all in all.

Just found this video as a result of looking up some funny BSoD locations via Google. So sorry if this is a necro of an old video, but I recently encountered 2 BSoD instances in hilarious places.
The first was on an automated kiosk in my area for a system used by BottleDrop, a collective in Oregon that is setup to recycle cans for redemption purposes. The Kiosk was in a Wal-Mart and was used to scan a user's ID card and print out a redeemable receipt to withdraw funds from their account that they could then redeem at a register for the cash. Sadly this one was showing a Windows 7 variant and was actually caught in a loop, restarting and going back to blue screen over and over. FYI none of the staff that I spoke to knew what to do to resolve it, I was told when a "Manager" was available they would "address" the issue.
The second BSoD was at a keymaking cabinet at a local Ace Hardware. The machine allowed someone to place a household key (or padlock key, basically a "standard" key as opposed to say a vehicle key) and create a copy for a fee. The touchscreen interface was showing a clearly out-of-date Windows 9x (or NT?) version of the BSoD. Again none of the staff knew what to do, though one suggested he could power cycle it, but that wound up not being possible as the cabinet was actually hard wired into the electrical system of the store.

Internally, stop errors are called bugchecks. The first blue screen covered in this video is actually a boot error, when the initial MICROSOFT screen is displayed on an incorrect DOS version. The screen would print “Incorrect dos version” then print the contents of the WINOLDAP file and scroll past the boot screen. The system will then attempt to boot properly, but most of the time it dies. I can theorize that the STOP error was blue (by the designer who made it) as a reference to the WINOLDAP error.

Back when he was in primary school, his school had Windows XP and his friend, who was sitting next t him, had a BSOD and it was the one that was carried on for another 14 years to Windows 7.
R.I.P Windows 7, you will be missed.

Working overtime and reimaging bulk quantities of laptops in the 13 story corporate HQ, I decided to take a walk around my tower (1 of 2).
From a conference room window on the 10th floor, I looked across at the other tower - empty at this time of night - and to my great amusement - saw a glowing blue screen 4-6 stories down, just waiting for an IT guy to be at the right place, at the right time.

I had an ATM bluescreen once. This was back in the XP days. Inserted my card and it bluescreened. I was not aware some ATMs ran on Windows. A large digital billboard along I-17 in Phoenix also bluescreened once. I was driving late at night and we just laughed at this giant BSOD we could see for miles. That same digital billboard is now using Linux, I know because it crashed and was sitting on some Linux error screen. I also saw a digital billboard a few months ago near my house getting Windows updates lol.

Yea, my town has 2 big touchscreens scattered along the main road, (street? avenue?) and once i saw both of them with a bsod. That lasted for a week. The next week, they were freezed at a shutting down from the login page.
The screens were to be able to see the map, interest places, the bus thing and suggestions. People were always messing around with them. They were some websites that were blocked, like youtube, but not my website, and my website has embedded videos, so i was watching a video of mine (or whatever video i put on the website) on a gigant screen

In Argentina we have displays in some highways that show the last numberplate that went by each lane every few km. Once, on a particularly long trip, i saw three of them with a BSOD message, i was amused by the first one, couldn't believe the second one, and felt like i was in heaven on the third one, it's such a stupid thing to be entertained by, and i know i've seen several of them, but i'll never forget that day.

I had one story about computer crashes in public, it was a giant LCD-display inside of business centre, that showed waterfalls. some abstract pictures to attract people I think. I used to go to my english courses past this building. Once instead of pictures and videos, there was an Asus MOBO error message "Overclocking faliure! Press F2 to enter setup". Although, that PC was too powerful to show pictures, ASUS X99 2011-3 MOBO, Xeon E5 2630 and 32GB DDR4 3200MHZ. I think there was a blue screen before I came to this building and either CPU or RAM actually went down.

    Here's a funny kindergarten story:
When I was 4, we had macs running windows Vista, we were watching movies on windows media centre, watching movies that were on the macs. I was on one, once the credits rolled in, i got the BoSD, it went like this:
    "blue screen shows"
    Me: SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEACH
    Teachers: WHAT HAPPENED!?
    Me: The computer it mad!
    Teacher: "calls school tech help"
    STH: Whats wrong?
    Me (sobbing): The computer!
    STH: Its fine just restart!
    Me: Ok!
    "restarts"
    Me: Thanks!
    STH: No problem!
