I remember watching this at the time ...i was 15 and was so sick of everyone talking about drugs on TV and at school... We were asked to design a poster in art classes to say No to drugs...but I like most kids my age didn't even understand the concept of drugs or what they were or did....I couldn't even design a poster because all I heard was how terrible they were, so why would u take them? ...my teacher thought i must be on drugs
Because of this story on Grangehill, kids in the late 80s completely turned their backs on heroin. To fill the void, in 1987 they found Ecstasy and the whole illegal rave scene started that summer. If they had done an Acid House remix of Just Say No, they could have helped lots of people in the Dance music scene - probably.
Those times were great memories. Raving and all that. The crack and heroin was when it all changed for the worst. It just wasn't fun anymore. Anyway good comment. Clean for years now 😊.
During the early 80s, I watched the London Programme. It featured two men mixing drugs and the dangers to it. My mum at the time was shocked and I had to leave the living room. Then after that, Michael Parkinson did.a one off show called Saving The Skag Kids. Esther Rantzen did one called Drug watch, and Grange Hill brings it on. Classic episode.
I'm 51 now I used to watch grange hill in the 80s, zammo (lol ) I'm currently taking drug treatment Espranor 10mg daily for heroin addiction, I didn't understand when I was a kid
I remember this showing up unexpectedly where Blue Peter or something was supposed to go, as if I didn't already find that shot of Zammo with the crash-zooms creepy enough

What the hell am I watching?!😂 as if this would work nowadays,so old fashioned in it's teaching, as much as I love Grange Hill and all things 80's...the experiment with Kelly George who later player Ray in the show.... I mean, really?!😅
I thought that was George Kelly, but a few years younger! Things back in the days of my youth were so much simpler, you are right an experiment like that was so very basic, but proved the point trying to be made and got across. I wonder if Erkan felt a fool tapping the drum or whether he enjoyed that cameo role-LOL. Big Grange Hill fan and cant recall seeing this when it was first aired. Maybe I did, alot has happened since then.
@@gemmawilson3226 Laughing at Erkan feeling a fool! He seems to embrace all things Grange Hill and isn't ashamed of his acting past, which is refreshing. Comes across a really normal/lovely bloke. You probably did watch it at the time, I'd only remember if I'd of taped it,but seeing as I was only 4 then, highly unlikely! Only got into Grange Hill when they repeated them on Sunday mornings in the early 90's. Now, I'm ashamed to say I could go on Mastermind with my GH knowledge!!🤣
People say no to drugs but do they have a happy life, did they grow up on a shit housing estate surrounded by useless people on a road to nowhere; I've been smoking cannabis since 17 then about 30 started on heroin and crack cocaine but I stopped that but carried on with cannabis and now hopefully stopped smoking cannabis, but I'm still addicted to Espranor daily, you can't tell sum1 to say no as most kids don't understand what they mean

I'm glad I don't do drugs. It's stupid and dangerous and I'm also glad I don't drink alcohol and I don't smoke cigarettes.
