    nice. I like the self pulling system a lot more than Shimano cranks, but other than that...well Shimano cranks are cheap and they just work. If you get a deore you can't change the ring, but that price is just great.

    And also, not only are Shimano alu cranks strike-proof, they also use 24mm steel spindles that are of a material arguably better suited to the kinds of loads they experience, and allow for larger, much more resilient bearing ball size (especially in very popular BB92 and similar pressfit systems).

    The 3 bolts don't really need locktite. They are not load bearing bolts just to hold it on. And the spacer ring would stop them from backing out anyways.

    I love my X01 carbon crank, but holy crap is that 8mm crank arm bolt a nightmare to remove. I have always used Park grease on the bolt and spindle threads, but I still always need a 3 foot cheater bar to break it loose.... and it sounds like it literally breaks too when it finally lets go. 3 days ago I swapped out my chainring and used some Park Anti-Seize compound for the first time and hope that helps in the future.... man that bolt gets frozen on there!. That can't be by design??

    • @MaplePanda04

      I believe they do self-tighten a little.

    • @ThunderStruckMTB
      @ThunderStruckMTB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update: The Park Anti-Seize compound made a world of difference but it was still tight. I spoke to SRAM and they said the issue was on the 'older' crank bolts where the design of the aluminum bolt's threads would gall with the aluminum spindle's threads. SRAM changed the aluminum bolt design on the newer cranks and it's supposed to eliminate the issue. You can also buy their steel bolt which eliminates galling and uses a 10mm outer cover instead of the standard 4 pin cover ( SRAM part number 11.6118.066.000 ). Be aware that 4 pin cover is a total beotch to remove though (left hand threads and tight as hell for any pin spanner wrench ) but Abby tools makes a great tool for it and makes it a cinch to remove www.abbeybiketools.com/products/dub-crank-dust-cap-tool I Love SRAM DUB cranks and bought the Abby tool and will keep a generous supply of anti-seize on hand.
