I don't know in the light novels, correct me if I'm wrong, after the anailation of their army.. I think the wife was sold to sex slavery and the son died of malnutrition. Yup overlord is the kind of anime for the whole family! 😮😂
The reason why the head warrior was not talking was because as a commoner it would be rude to speak without being talked to or been given permission by the king
And that kind of bull right there is why Re-estize is now on the wrong side of the war. A little more competence and a little less politicking...it would've done them a world of good.
Yeah if he spoke out of line, it would negatively impact on the King. He cannot allow that because of his unyielding loyalty. Also, while he knows from his guts Ainz is not to be messed with, he was knocked out when Ainz fought the Sunlight Scripture, so he doesn't truly know the might of Ainz & Nazarick. The Kingdom's Nobles were always taught that Magic is nothing more than fancy tricks, they focus much more on brute strength and the sheer numbers of soldiers. Only people like Reaven and Zanac, whom learnt from hired ex-Orichalcum Adventurers, know of the versatility and power of magic. This is why regular nobles fear not about a single mighty magic caster. They feel it's okay if they overwhelm him with numbers and archers. This episode also mentioned that Adventurers wouldn't participate in the war. This is a rule enforced in many human Adventurer's Guilds, so that casualties in wars between humans wouldn't escalate on both sides, since Adventurers are far stronger than common soldiers and conscripts. Also, Adventurers are essential in dealing with monsters thanks to their diverse skills, so losing them in a war would have serious consequences for human nations. Ex-Adventurers hired by merchants or nobles aren't bound by this rule.
@@CZ2_Delta yeah that is what males emperor el Nix so impressive, he took down all corrupt and anti royal faction in his land, and started promoting for ability instead of family line
23:40 There already is... you forgot our boi Nfi, he was able to put all piece together and came up with the answer Momon and Ainz is the same person lol
About Ainz's army, its consisted of 500 Death knights and 500 Soul Eaters (basicaly skeleton horses), that were not shown in the anime. Fun fact about these monsters, both of them are conscidered legendary creatures by the denizens of the New World. Three Soul Eaters even once destroyed a city, killing 95% of its residents. Let that sink, they were just 3, Ainz have 500 and can summon more
I think it was 500 in total, like 300 death knights and 200 soul eaters, plus a couple of death warriors and cavaliers but yeah, even with 5 soul eaters the re estize army is doomed, for let's remember that the city that was destroyed was of demihumans, and demihumans are stronger than humanoids, plus, I think the population of the city was around 100k demihumans
@@lucianoorciani9797and the special abilities is soul eater where the more they kill and the souls they consume the stronger they become or the death knight special skill of withstanding any instant death spell where it would have 1 HP left no matter how strong the skill or item is and never die from the first hit
If you recall that princess renner said at the end of last season, She wanted climb to die, that way she could revive him (now in a weak state) And he would have to depend almost, if not fully on her. Knowing this it's not so strange that she wants him in armor that puts him at risk.
but actually this is not the reason. I don't want to spoil the last season but what happened at the end of the last season is the actual reason climb was ordered to keep his shining armor
No... thats not the reason why she wants him in that armor... Renner is betraying her country and giving info to Ainz and Albedo for Her family and climb to survive. She wants to marry climb, and thus, as we find out later as well... she becomes a demon and turns climb into one as well so they can live together forever, without having to worry about anything as they are under ainz's rule! Its terrible, but thats Overlord for you... everything is terrible!
For why she wants him to wear the armor, its so that the 'goats' can recognize him and not kill him straight up! Climb is one of the few people that should not be killed; as Ainz says at the start of the battle to the 'goats'. this list includes: Climb, Gazef, the King and Brain. Everyone else of the 140k are dead basically.
Yeah. I laughed when near the start of season 1 he was rating various Isekai based on how "dark" they where, and put Overlord quite low down... and I silently laughed to myself. I would if he would like to redo that now. :)
13:06 "Why won't this guy speak up, man?" Remember that, no matter how strong and high ranking he is, Gazef is a commoner. He can't speak up in the presence of nobles without permission.
There's also the fact that he doesn't really know how strong Ainz is. All he knows is that he got teleported out of the battle and Ainz took his place with Albedo (I don't think he knows her name, but he saw her). Obviously, Ainz survived and, at least, drove off the Sunlight Scripture. But Gazef doesn't know that it was an easy battle. For all he knows, it could be that Ainz barely managed to repel the assault. The world of Overlord operates on D&D rules. Everyone has a limit to how many times a day they can use their abilities. Even a powerful wizard can only cast so many spells. That's why they don't think he can affect the outcome of a battle alone. Even if you blast the army with a few dozen spells, you're going to kill at most a few thousand people, and then you'll be exhausted. They have no understanding of the concept of magic spells with kilometers of range that could blanket an entire army in one go.
@@Djorgal I disagree with just one name. Fluder Paradyne. This old man by himself is enough of a deterrent that he prevented several countries from invading the empire by his name alone. So we have an established precedent of a single spellcaster being worth more than an army. Gazef doesn't know the extent of Ainz's strength for sure, but it was already reasonable to compare him to Fluder at the very least. Otherwise, the empire wouldn't have acknowledged his claim for a new country out of nowhere. Only fools disregarded this as mere excuse for their regular war campaign, and Gazef is no fool.
I mean to be fair rezero season 2 was a massive waterfall of emotional scenes, and that episode was very early on, it’s very likely his memory of season 2 was clogged up by the outstanding later scenes. I agree though season 2 episode 4 showed an amazing anime dad.
Yup.. just... yup. Good stuff. Wish the animation budget was better but still a story that hits pretty good. Remember, Chief Warrior Bro didn't actually witness the fight... He just remembers how many he faced and that AoG returned to the village alive and practically unscathed. He understands the minimum strength AoG has and understands that alone is to be feared.
Your theory on any of his guardians wiping out the entire army is not off at all. in the books at this point they pointed out a single death knight would probably decimate an entire army. which is why they were so afraid of him controlling several of them in the previous episodes.
@@GunRunner106 oh, those of us who seen it know, and oh my god do we know, but for those who dont im only talking about whats actually been revealed in the anime/books by this point.
A death knight would not decimate an army. They have ways to fight those. Fluder even has one captured... I want to say "alive"... in his basement. A death knight would decimate grunts, because numbers are actually a handicap against a death knight (everyone they kill turn into a zombie), but an army would have a few champions that can fight a death knight off.
@@Djorgal a single death knight could defeat the entire re-estize kingdom. adamantium adventures cannot defeat a single death knight. death knight has the def of a lv40 and att of a lv25 person. adamantium are 20~30 lv ppl. a normal mage doesnt have the stamina to do what fluder did in the WN version of the story. in the WN it took fluder and his assistance 3 days to subdue that natural spawned death knight. fluder could use fly for hours on end and would bombard em nonstop then go rest while the assis kept the DK busy till returned, evtl wore em down enough that could pack em up and carry em home. its not mentioned in the LN, so ya choice if ya go with this or not.
Luke the guy you really like because of him being a good dad is the same guy that talked with the princess and her brother last season and was like "I want to see the real princess Renner". And when the princess mentioned of marrying his son just as a facade because she wants Climb he got real defensive about her having his precious son. This here is part of where we see that he makes plots and some schemes but he does has the best intentions for the kingdom on doing so. I believe his son was one of the things that ending up turning him into a better person overall.
Minor note: In this episode you can briefly see Mare wearing the world item gloves "Avarice and Generosity", these absorb and store the experience points (souls) of anything killed nearby, these stored experience points can then be spent to use/cast special abilities and/or spells that cost experience instead of mana so as to not de-level yourself accidentally.
huh relatively little to say today, but this is a very good setup episode, as the characters in the kingdom have their true nature and motives exposed especially Raven. He seems nice. 8:50 He’s alone and venting, insulting actual idiots, and foolish decisions is always ok under that circumstance 23:40 This was basically Nfirea in season 1, but he’s the only one who has made that connection so far 28:00 a completely fair assessment 30:30 Eldest prince does not realize at all that his dad and faction sent him away on this task so his life would not be in danger
Something I didn't see anyone mention so far: They cut this in the episode, but in the books, when they introduced the declaration of invasion by the Empire, the Slane Theocracy declared that they have no historical record of Ainz owning these lands (in fact, the Slane Theocracy gave these lands to the Kingdom so they could safely breed and generate strong humans to defend humanity). In spite of this, the Slane Theocracy declares it still won't oppose the Sorcerous Kingdom if they wish to annex the region of E-Rantel. That underlines that the strongest nation around doesn't wish to oppose a single magic caster, and should have hinted to the Kingdom's Nobles that trouble was coming for them.
Next episode (episode 11) is my favorite of the whole show. Not sure if I was clear about that previously. Also, You're both right and wrong about Hastings. Harold Godwinson did indeed march his men all the way up from London to Stamford Bridge to defeat the Vikings and then march them all the way back to Hastings for battle (they stopped in London briefly). However, that wasn't why they lost. They held their shield wall all day and were winning the fight when the Normans appeared to retreat. They then broke formation to pursue and William rallied his men and the cavalry charge hit the side of the English forces and they lost. It was while they were rallying that supposedly Harold took an arrow to the eye. Funny for an American to be teaching a Brit about this. :)
in the LN Ainz army isnt "just" 500 death knights, but a mix of death knights and mounted knights. 200 Death Knights withe basic equipment and 300 with all sort of wpns, spears, halberds bows etc, all mounted on soul eaters. 300 soul eaters. they are horse like monsters. there were reports in the past where once 3 soul eaters appeared in a city and they devoured a total of around or more then 100k people. (and as far as can tell wasnt just humans but like stronger demi humans city of sorts iirc)
fun fact about raeven (the person who was with his kid this episode) originally he married his wife for political reason (no love even some hate) to further his goal too become king because he believed his intellect (coup de ta) but everything change when his wife gave birth too his son and no longer aspired for the throne he just wants too make his wife and son happy. also he is working extremely hard too prevent the noble and royal faction from slitting by pretend to be a "bat" travel from one faction to the other and back and forth all too prevent the kingdom's destruction,
As for those who know that Ainz is Momon, they should be Nfirea (blond bowlcut guy), Fluder Paradyne (the Empire's Gandalf man) and all members of Nazarick. Of course, all are loyal to Ainz so the secret is safe.
32:00 Harold waited in southern England for the Norman invasion only for Harald Hardrada to attack in Yorkshire, forcing him to move his army north, then while he was in the north, William arrived in the south forcing him to rush back down south. Exhaustion wasn't the deciding factor in the battle though, it was William's strategy to lure out parts of the Saxon shield wall.
Monday is gonna be so good. A new piece gets added to the chessboard. Arguably the second or third strongest army in the world. Their leader is truly a terrifying commander and overall tactical genius. Seeing Luke's reaction to next episode is going to be fantastic.
Lol Luke desperatly trying not to invoke the curse... marquis raven is a good dad.... "aww lee tan choo choo choo" Luke "aww i really like this guy" the realization "OH NOOOOO...."
3:05 - marquis pespea is married to the eldest princess of he king's family. (Renner is the 3rd princess) katze is a german word and means "cat" - cat plains.
Just a reminder that 1 death knight is considered strong enough to destroy nations. They are strong to the point where only a few select people in each nation may have even a hope of surviving the battle let alone winning.
They aren´t that strong in itself, why they can destroy Nations is, all killed by a DN will raised as a zombie and the what the zombies killed too, a selfbuilding armee.
Luke: everyone says they like this episode Also Luke: I dont like this, the music and everything, fuck this episode, red flags everywhere, they're all dead, he dead he dead and he also dead.... every single one of them dead 🤣🤣🤣🤣 For an episode with such minimal screentime of Ainz, this is a highly rated episode
Some cut content from this episode was that Nimble and that other guy spoke before Ainz had arrived and made it clear he's aware of Jircniv's intentions with all of this and that the Sorcerer King isn't a real friend. Next is the army of death knights in the LN also included Soul Eaters which were these skeleton horses and just a single one could take down a whole village with ease. Just a sense of the difference in strength between Nazarick and practically everyone else 😅
Luke, don't be ridiculous. Good Dads in anime exists in multiple series. Bookworm is a great example of good parenting, there is also multiple shows where you see a story of a single male parent adopting a child and doing great job, even if a child is not normal. Usagi Drop comes to mind as an example. In vasy majority of shows parents are just absent due to economy, letting kids live closer to best school they can aford , to learn independence whenever the kids are lod enough to live by themeselves. But good and normal parents exists in multiple shows too.
@@SkyMina_ i counted my 1000 + watched anime, it comes up to around 4% with good fathers in the story around 9% if we count adopted parents (and i would count loid forger as a good parent whatever his ocupation might be) it drastically goes up when the characters of the story are youger and falls off the cliff in highschool daily life shows where you don't even see a parent name, but there is also much more single mothers . my lis is probably biased because i like to step out of the meinstream after watching anime for as long as i did
@@kokodin5895 yeah i agree , but in general it just easier to make a character as a bad parents for the show cause it give something interesting in return especially with trauma. Even in Overlord there still a bad father for example the previous noble guy (that waste money buying luxury item) that had his daughters sold as a slave. Even if we take spy family for example , Anya original parents is still an as$h0l€.
Mentioning Usagi Drop huh... Guess only watched the anime? But well I do think Daikichi did a good job as a dad even even you consider the ending of the manga where he completely failed >_>
Fun fact, you can collapse from heat stroke in armour. Plate armour in particular traps heat and sweat. I've seen reenactors collapse from heat stroke they are often quite fit. The soldier warning the prince knew that a heft chunk of the force they had would drop out both literally and figuratively. Even if they did make it to the battle they'd be in no state to fight.
28:37 : The guy introduce himself as "Nimble Arc Dale Anoch". That's an interesting call back to the necromancer in season 1 whom Clementine called "Khajit Dale Badantel" and he tsked before saying that he's abandoned the name of "Dale". I don't think it's ever mentioned anywhere in the anime or novel what exactly that name means or what relation Khajit and Nimble may have. But that's the thing I love with Overlord, there's so much world building and details that hints at every side character having a complete and full story. No character seem like they are a "background" character they are living people who just happens to not be currently the focus of the story.
You could say that brain has felt garzefs presenze, OOOOR you could say that climb stood his back facing garzef while brain stood sideways and could literally see him comming
29:50 it's worth clarifying that in the light novel there were not just death knights in his army (around 300 of them) but there were also soul eaters (around 200 of those) and i think there where death warriors, cavaliers, etc. I think it was even stated that it actually looked like the army of death. Also fits to clarify that death knights are around level 35, and each alone would be as strong if not a little stronger than an adamantite class adventurer (there are about 3 or 4 groups in the entire kingdom) and that sould eaters are so powerful that in the past, a demihuman city of a 100.00 demihumans was wiped out overnight by just 3 of them.
adamantine lvl is around lvl 26+, mithril is lvl 21+ orichalcum is lvl 23+ hero tier lvl 30+ finally outliners are lvl 36+ AGK (awaken god-kins) [some player decedents] are lvl 60+. keep in mind these are just lvls for the humanoids races
@@super_connor4827 for what I understand, hero level is above 30 and adamantite is around level 28, and outliners are for +36 to +40, mostly because of fluder, that is near or in the level 40, not 41 thou, as that would mean that demiurge's comand skill wouldn't have worked on him. meanwhile for what I get, awakened godkins are around +50, because the barbarian of the black scripture implied that he is around the same level of power/strengh as evileye, which is around the 50, while the capitan of the black scripture is +60, meaning that the black scripture is around the same level of strengh as the pleiades, of course without aureole omega, although with antilene on the battlefield, it would be an interesting fight to see, cause if antilene is equiped with the items left by the 6 great gods, then I don't know if aureole could survive or instarevive after the goal of all life is death is used on her.
@@lucianoorciani9797 aureole is specialized in buffing, she practically has no combat capabilities. that barbarian is the 3rd strongest of the current black scriptures. clemintine (no 6GG equipment) was also part of the black scripture but she is weaker then brain, but stronger then gazef (without his equipment)
@@super_connor4827 clementina was in the black scripture and reached the level of héroes, but she was not an awakened godkin, and because brain at that point in time did not reached the realm of heroes, he was weaker than her, she also tells that gazef could be on par with her, if he is at his strongest, meaning, if he is using the four treasures of the kingdom, while at the same time, she basically, not using anything but that bikini armor. Also, I know that aureole is a buffer, at the point she can buff the Pleiades to kill level 100 players, but I was thinking that if a fight between the Pleiades with aureole and the black scripture with the extra seat was made, the battle would be decided if zeshi could kill aureole in time
My favorite episode was episode 9. The episodes name was "War of Words". I just love the tension in the atmosphere when Jircniv "Gilgamesh" El-Nix is in Nazareth and face to face with Ains, realizing how incredibly outmatched he and his empire is. After finishing with season 4 that episode for some reason stuck with me.
On the note of Made in Abyss S3, we won't have season 3 for at least 5-6 years, as there is only 6-7 chapters out after S2, and each chapter takes an incredibly long time, ~6 months minimum per chapter it feels. The author did say, though, that there would be a s3, just "live long and wait". I, too, am very much looking forward to it, as the more chapters released make the story more and more fascinating!
Chief warrior fear Ainz for two reasons, First, he didn't saw the battle against the theocracy forces but he saw Ainz coming back like was nothing after a battle he had no shot in winning and they also cut this part from the anime but when Gazef reach the village he seems the death knight and is terrified but Ainz just brush it off saying was one of his weaker soldiers and Gazef think that the only way he could defeat a single death knight was if he had his full equipment and sword
Regard of how Gazef not spoke often it is because he's come to his position from a commoner. So its like a class differentiation that he would be shunned by all the noble there for speaking out of his turn.. he's like a black man standing in the white politic council in the 80s.
TO WAR WE GO! Nice reaction once again! 1- A whole lot of things are happening in the background. You might thinkthis season is the most random, but it really isn't. None of them are random in reality. All of them put something in place that will be very important later on. Of course, I can't say anything more or it would be spoilery, but as a hint, even the 2 horns Ainz gave Enri are very important to the story, and it was just a spur of the moment decision. Of course, I won't say more even on that detail to avoid spoilers. 2- The best episodes in many series aren't that action pacted. Overlord is among them. Yes, big fights with flashy effect are nice, but a really good story is often way more interesting than just a visual feast. I'll give you an example of another anime you didn't watch (without spoilers once again) to illustrate that. Log Horizon is one of my favorite animes. Objectively, it isn't among the best, but I like the characters so much it gain a lot of love from me only for that. There are great fight scenes in the anime, but most of those are forgetable. What's grip most of the fans of the anime is the slower episodes where the characters live their lives, grow up as characters and help us better understand they world they live in. The way they adapt to the world, improve it and improve their own living standards are way more impactful than most of the fight scenes. I would really recommend that show. It is like SaO (as in, people stuck in a video game world) but with way better world building and character development. The story is way more interesting too in my opinion. 3- Oh, there are way more fed up anime, trust me. Good examples would be Higurashi no Naku Koro ni or Corpse Party. Those are horror animes and are is absolutely atrocious. Never underestimate Japan when it comes to imagination, they can produce the best and the worse in every way possible. 4- Good dad in anime is kind of the majority to be honest. It just depend on the genre. If you take slice of life or romance, there are a multitude of good dads out there. In a lot of sport animes too there are good dads. There are fewers in horror and action genre because the lost of a dad is often a driving factor to go explore the world or take arms, but truth be told, both side are extremely numerous. Also, in FMAB, the dad is great! Sure, he wasn't there for the kids, but he litteraly sacrificed the time he wanted to spend with them to try and find a way to save the world. If that's not love for his children, I don't know what is. 5- About the bros part, I think the word you were looking for was "quatuor" which means a group of four. Four some (hi you tube, I censored it, thanks for not taking this comment down!) is quite a different thing. 6- I love your reaction during this episode. Truth be told, I think this might be your best reaction to this day. You are so into it, we see you are hurting for the characters. This episode is like that. We love it because it hurt. It hurt because it is increadibly good at what it does, reaching us deep and making us feel for the characters. I'm sure you'll end up counting that episode in your favorites of this anime later on. Enjoy that pain for now, it'll be a nice memory later. Of course, I'm not telling you if you are right or wrong here, I'm not telling you who will die and who will live, just that this episode is there to make us feel that dread and it do it masterfully.
Ainz: I have decided to conduct a special military operation. Its goal is to return the historical lands around the Tomb of Nazarick, the residents of the village of Carne have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Slane Theocracy and Re-Estize Kingdom for eight years, for this we will annex these legitimate historical territories to our newly formed Sorcerer Kingdom
the epidose is adding a lot of people to reaper list xD🤣🤣🤣🤣, it was so funny how you instantly give the good papa family a lifesaver when you listened the music and the previous overlord reputation 😁😁😎😎
The reason that the Head Warrior and personal guard of the King, Gazef Stronoff isn't saying what he knows about Ains is because he was and is a commoner, the Nobles laugh him off as a joke more often than not anyway, and if he says that they should be more weary of Ains they will look down on him even more. Which wouldn't effect him much, but the Nobles are looking for any excuse to get the prince that they want into power (the dumb brute force prince that they cam puppet Barboro) so that they have even more control. So they use that the Head warrior is a commoner already in their arguments against the king's rule, they would intensify the pressure on the king should Gazef speak out, especially out of turn at a important meeting like that.
Second to last episode in Season 4 of Overlord. It explains the timelime on Renner and why she did what she did. We call it the "Disney Princess" episode.
So in slight defense of the nobles, their two main failings are their lack of understanding of mages/ and what a high level mage looks like, and their politic’ing. To most of these nobles, their best understand is of a mage that can use fireball to clear a room, and in this world that would classify you as mid rank to most. In that respect all you need is to throw enough men at the mage until they run out of spells. However Ainz is so far above this level that the number of rank and file soldiers needed to beat him is astronomical. Even Gazeff only has the faintest idea of Ainz based on instinct alone. He never saw the rest of the fight so the possibility of Ainz convincing the theocracy to leave is just as likely if not more so than Ainz wiping them out. Second on the politic’ing, even if the nobles respect Gazeff as a warrior. He is still a member of the royal faction by association, and neither side can show weakness to the other so they can’t just give up E-Rantel off of one persons vague intuition.
6:11 I can't speak for other people, but it is definitely an amazing episode. Honestly, the last 3 episodes of this season are all so good it's hard choose which is the best.
15:51 - What about Subaru's dad? (From Re:Zero) 28:20 - Ainz doesn't really need to send out a guardian, his regular army - Death Knights or Enchanted Skeletons can go through the army like a knife goes through a butter. A single Death Knight is level 35, while Gazef, being the strongest warrior in the kingdom, is at max level 30, so 1-2 Death Knights would probably be enough to kill everyone, and look how many Ainz took with him. 31:30 - It's not only that battle, some other battles were lost because of the same reason (can't name them though) - the soldiers were simply too tired to fight. I mean, such term as "War of attrition" is a thing, after all.
dont you just love when they have the characters get together to discuss the future? Its the animes way of giving us something to look forward to and subtlety saying they will all survive
26:00 : Luke is mentioning about every1 dying. Meanwhile, me: "I mean there is resurrection magic in this world. Surely if they die they can be resurrected. Everything will work out juuuust fine. Ignore those red flags flying over them. It is not as if they are *lambs* being shepherd'ed to slaughter just like that." . . . . . . . *applause.sfx* . . Why are you all not applauding?!?
Additional context that is in the Light Novel but never reaches the anime The kingdom is fragmented. The nobles have equal amount if not more power than the crown. So the king cannot afford to look weak. The lands Nazarick are claiming are lands under management of the crown. So if the king just gives them up, they will make him lose influence. The noble faction wants the king to lose influence as he gained a lot of praise from the populace from how he handled Jaldabouth's invasion in season 2. The king and the prince both "took a walk" with their bodyguards 300 style, and "accidentally" cleaned several streets of demons invading. While the nobles shut themselves in their mansions and cowered. Most of the people in the meeting estimate's Ainz power at the level of 5 times Gazef's. Since Gazef can handle 1,000 people on how own, they dedicated 5,000 troops to him. They are fielding 120,000 soldiers and militia conscripts, so they feel it is going to be fine. They are also comparing him to Fluder's power level, but dismiss it as improbable. Why would someone ally with an inferior ally if they could overpower their strongest asset? So, since Ainz has not conquered the Empire, and thus not defeated Fluder, they think Ainz does not have the capacity to rival Fluder. We all know Fluder gets played around by Ainz, and that is why Fluder swore allegiance to Ainz.
This reaction is just pure character progression. 'Awwww, this is nice! I don't like it! No! NO!' 'He's such a nice dad. I hate this' 'You're dead, you're dead, you're double dead, you're going to be thrown into a dungeon!' 'Oh look at this guy, he's a good dad- EVERYBODY IS FUCKING DEAD!' Luke has finally fully grasped how Overlord does things. Good people the show gives depth to get dead and/or experimented on. Good people who don't get depth are tortured. Bad people just get erased or worse. The more you like someone, the less you like what happens to them.
Every year, the Empire conducts a punitive invasion on the Kingdom at harvesting season to disrupt their economy. Because the Kingdom army is filled with conscripted farmers and serfs while the Empire has a professional standing army, only the Kingdom will be negatively affected by the battle. At this point, most nobles in the Kingdom are familiar with this tactic and they think the upcoming battle will be just like the years before, none could imagine how powerful Ainz really is.
As you can see, the Kingdom has two factions - The Royals and the Aristocrats. The Royal faction is loyal to the King, while the Aristocrats want power over the king. Raeven is a balancing level with the Royals and the Aristocrats. The sad thing here, is that both the kingdom and the empire think Ains isn't super powerful. While Jircniv saw how powerful Ains is, he had hopes there are flaws in Ains enough to defeat him. As you can see, Lord Raeven is a dotting father. You missed the '-' after the '2 Months later' So it really was '- 2 Months Later -' Strongoff has already said his opinion. The problem is, he won't be able to sway them, since he is a Commoner in their eyes, depsite the king giving him mad props. Here's the thing about the King sending Barbarosa to Carne Village. The idea was to send him to look at the village, sparing his son from the war. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean Barbarosa is going to do things 'correctly'. Unfortunately, the king's hope and his son's pride will clash. Which will be proven later on. As a reminder - Climb is a commoner and Princess Renner is not 'powerful' in the Kingdom. So to raise up Renner's fame, he has to 'stand out', just as Gazef stands out because he is the best warrior of all the people out there. So, Ainz is going to 'flex' in front of the Empire. And this is just the 'pre-amble' of his flex. He freaks out the empire by his 'retinue' of Death Knights. About a company of them. Just so you know, 1 Death Knight has enough power to wipe out a company (80-100 men). What's worse, is since Ains is a powerful undead. He can use the dead to make more undead. Don't forget, Barbarosa is looking for 'fame'. Sadly, his understanding of battle tactics is sorely lacking, so he will do the worse tactic ever.
This man is already traumatized lmao...dont worry Luke - the rest of this season and season 4 are my favorite episodes in overlord and im confident ur gonna absolutely LOVE them! Ainz is the G.O.A.T!!
I think you are entirely correct that Cocytus could solo like, the entire army easily lol. Outside of highly specific counters like the world item that could mind control Shalltear, I don't think we've been introduced to a single character that could even damage a floor guardian with their own power. Maybe that one big ass dragon, but I think even they would be at a noticeable disadvantage. The entire world is quite literally at the mercy of Ainz's whims.
The flex that Ainz did at the end of the episode, how many of the regular soldiers shat themselves when they saw all the Death Knights? 😂 Also, *squish, squish, squish*! 😈😈😈😈
31:00 Stupid prince here wants to participate in the main battle so badly, he's willing to get there with an army already dying of exhaustion. That's just how insecure he is because he fears his brother can take the inheritance. 31:30 I think you mean this one: "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." I also like this one: "The fool learns from his own mistakes, the wise learns from the mistakes of others."
Well if it helps, consider that Overlord is a top-notch anime that paints with a lot of different brushes so it's not like every likeable non-Nazerick character you meet will die, simply because that would be too predictable. Also I think you may have missed the bit about the emperor asking Ainz to start the battle with a big spell because he's deliberately trying to make Ainz seem like a threat so other people will conspire against him. That's uh...well that kind of makes whatever happens next a lot his fault, doesn't it?
11:21 "Oh no, there's red flags everywhere." Overlord is pretty mean. Showing us cute character moments like this before turning horribly dark. Not everybody dies though. Some people only wish they could die.
Another anime with a great dad is "if it is for my daughter, I would even defeat a demon lord." It is a fantasy slice of life about a guy who adopts a little demon girl, and everyone falls in love with her adorable-ness.
Luke forced marching is a risky gambit in war but can pay its dividents. For instance Napoleon constantly used it. That prince does make a sensible decision as in his mind he only going to have a chat with some peasants and being left out of the big battle. If his plan works, maybe tired troops, but an additional 5k troops would show up on the field which could turn the tide of a battle.
That's is IF (and a big IF) that the dirty peasants would just willingly give them the information they want. Carne Village experienced an invasion of a Small Squad of Knights in Armor, any fool would not think that they would be on guard against an entire Army 5000 Strong. Then again, Prince Barboro is a fool as he doesn't even understand Politics much less Diplomacy.
13:05 Gazef is a commoner, so the nobles won't ever take anything he says "too seriously". Rather, they'll even use any "careless remarks" (no matter how truthful it is) in a way that will make the king look bad to earn more political power. So even if he told them "Ainz is a living god of death that can destroy the entire kingdom by his lone self, so let's NOT FIGHT HIM", they would simply think he's exaggerating too much for some unknown purpose; that the king's trusted warrior may be actually a coward; that they're conspiring with the Empire (who's backing Ainz), or "insert pretty much any reason here". To make things worse, neither Gazef nor the nobles know much about magic, and they probably don't see Magic Casters in combat as much more than "flashy bowmen using fire arrows or something similar". They don't think they can do much more than throwing a fireball that will hit a soldier and burn that one soldier down, or use a zap of lightning that will go through 3 soldiers, killing them immediately. Yes, the Kingdom's "upper echelon" is just that stupid AND ignorant; they are the perfect stereotype of arrogant, uselessly prideful, and extremely incompetent nobility who does nothing but play political games.
Luke: So many shit dads in anime! Byakuya Ishigami from Dr Stone, Thors from Vinland Saga, Loid Forger from SpyXFamily, Hughes & Hohenheim from FMA, Soichiro Yagami from Death Note, Shinichi's Dad from Parasyte The Maxim, etc. All these guys have their circumstances, but 100% love their kids. And that's just from shows I know Luke's seen. XD
28:11 not only would they win, and leave no survivors, but they wouldn't even take any damage at all from fighting said army The thing is, the way power scailing works in an RPG, (and Yggdrasil was a typical RPG in the old world), probably shown off best by kirito in SAO abridged, you get your numbers high enough and you are basically unkillable, to the point where, given enough time, Ainz could defeat the entire army, by himself, *Without even using magic* when he is a magic caster with no levels in any martial classes (Though he does have some racial levels which do grant strong but situational defensive buffs) The basic idea here is he is basically immune to any effects that they could use to stop him killing everyone one by one, and if they tried to run away, that's when he would use magic to make it so that they couldn't, or died, or recon magic to find where they are going, or movement magic like fly which lets him also move faster than any human through the air Etc etc etc, and that would just be if Ainz was level 70, someone he would consider to be a low level enemy (like the angel he was disappointed by fighting, or the skeletal dragons that Nabe fought)
I think Momon uses perfect warrior when disguised as Ainz. If I remember correctly, it disables all of his magic and turns him into a level 100 warrior (minus the warrior skills). So even his presence wouldn't match Ainz's who's blasting despair aura 24/7
Yes, but even with Perfect Warrior active, some Death Aura still leaks out, which is how Evil Eye thought she is in love with Momon. Her Vampiric Nature is reacting to Momon's Death Aura.
Word of appreciation for Marquis Raven's wife. The way the light novel described it, their relationship is a nicely functional political marriage. No love, but they work together well. Btw Raven was as much of a political bastart as he presents himself to public, when he was younger. Then his son was born and the experience changed him into the overworked dad who tries his hardest infront and behind the scenes to make the kingdom better for his child's sake(even started getting along better with his wife in gratitude for giving him the son).
Going to the dungeon in Nazerick is far far wose than death Neronist takes you to a millimetre of your life, then heals you just to repeat the process And after she's done with you, you're off to Demigure's happy farm or the large hole until they accidentally kill you after a few months

Let that sink, they were just 3, Ainz have 500 and can summon more
and they are also even considered "low-tier" undead...
@@Jr837_ like any other level 40-ish monster

If you recall that princess renner said at the end of last season,
She wanted climb to die, that way she could revive him (now in a weak state)
And he would have to depend almost, if not fully on her.

😂
13:06 "Why won't this guy speak up, man?"
Remember that, no matter how strong and high ranking he is, Gazef is a commoner.
He can't speak up in the presence of nobles without permission.
True 👀
15:50 Subaru's Dad is great dad. His family probably one of the best, they're wholesome.

Your theory on any of his guardians wiping out the entire army is not off at all. in the books at this point they pointed out a single death knight would probably decimate an entire army. which is why they were so afraid of him controlling several of them in the previous episodes.
a certain future episode comes to mind....

Why does this guy not get millions of views. his reactions are amazing

23:40 This was basically Nfirea in season 1, but he’s the only one who has made that connection so far
28:00 a completely fair assessment
30:30 Eldest prince does not realize at all that his dad and faction sent him away on this task so his life would not be in danger
Something I didn't see anyone mention so far:
They cut this in the episode, but in the books, when they introduced the declaration of invasion by the Empire, the Slane Theocracy declared that they have no historical record of Ainz owning these lands (in fact, the Slane Theocracy gave these lands to the Kingdom so they could safely breed and generate strong humans to defend humanity). In spite of this, the Slane Theocracy declares it still won't oppose the Sorcerous Kingdom if they wish to annex the region of E-Rantel. That underlines that the strongest nation around doesn't wish to oppose a single magic caster, and should have hinted to the Kingdom's Nobles that trouble was coming for them.
slane theocracy : oh well.. gg bro, I'm outta here

I can dig reactors nicknaming him Bryan lol. In season 4 tho, one must pay respect to the name of Brain.
😂

Just the subtle realization as the Death Knights rolled out was priceless
Poor Luke. Experiencing a "He just like me! Fr Fr!" with Marquis Raven while knowing how this show works for almost every human.

I won't point anything in particular, but I'm sometimes amused at how Luke can foreshadow things by himself without realizing it.
Love how you are thinking shut up by the opening song and can't help but be dragged into it, bopping your head XD

35 is around the peak of hero class and further is outliers
adamantine lvl is around lvl 26+, mithril is lvl 21+ orichalcum is lvl 23+ hero tier lvl 30+ finally outliners are lvl 36+ AGK (awaken god-kins) [some player decedents] are lvl 60+. keep in mind these are just lvls for the humanoids races

Also, I know that aureole is a buffer, at the point she can buff the Pleiades to kill level 100 players, but I was thinking that if a fight between the Pleiades with aureole and the black scripture with the extra seat was made, the battle would be decided if zeshi could kill aureole in time
this episode might as well be named Death Flag
16:11 Luke: I would be fine if, everyone in that room died, but not the Father Raven guy.
Be careful what you wish for Luke 😅😂
Next week we'll finish season 3! The finale is pretty great, and be on our way to season 4!
Luke watching this episode: They’re dead Dave. Every bodies dead. Every bodies dead dead Dave!!!
There are some great dads in Anime. To name some examples: Usagi Drop, Barakamon, Amaama to Inazuma, Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari, Spy x family.
Both armies marched there, it's like a big plain area that they fight on "every year"
havent watched yet, but am confident this episode will be a great one!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the epidose is adding a lot of people to reaper list xD🤣🤣🤣🤣, it was so funny how you instantly give the good papa family a lifesaver when you listened the music and the previous overlord reputation 😁😁😎😎
So they use that the Head warrior is a commoner already in their arguments against the king's rule, they would intensify the pressure on the king should Gazef speak out, especially out of turn at a important meeting like that.
this was commonly known as "The Death Flags Episode"
Second to last episode in Season 4 of Overlord. It explains the timelime on Renner and why she did what she did. We call it the "Disney Princess" episode.
@33:30 Bold to assume Ainz would need to use his army. All he needs is just 1 thing, won't even move.
(From Re:Zero)
28:20 - Ainz doesn't really need to send out a guardian, his regular army - Death Knights or Enchanted Skeletons can go through the army like a knife goes through a butter.
Loid from SpyxFamily~ I need to stop posting about it everywhere but the movie is just so fuuuuuun
dont you just love when they have the characters get together to discuss the future? Its the animes way of giving us something to look forward to and subtlety saying they will all survive
a.k.a. Red Flags in storytelling. Akin to "One day away from retirement", or "When I come back I will confess to my true love" etc...
26:00 : Luke is mentioning about every1 dying.
Meanwhile, me: "I mean there is resurrection magic in this world. Surely if they die they can be resurrected. Everything will work out juuuust fine. Ignore those red flags flying over them. It is not as if they are *lambs* being shepherd'ed to slaughter just like that."
. . . .
. . .
*applause.sfx*
. .
Why are you all not applauding?!?
Applaud his greatness!
Not war sir but massacre, because 1 people kill many many many people with 1 super tier magic with 2 step activation
Additional context that is in the Light Novel but never reaches the anime
The kingdom is fragmented.
I think showing Marquis Raeven with his family is also indirectly showing how the King might have been with his own firstborn son Barbro.
This reaction is just pure character progression.
'Awwww, this is nice! I don't like it! No! NO!'
'He's such a nice dad. I hate this'
'You're dead, you're dead, you're double dead, you're going to be thrown into a dungeon!'
'Oh look at this guy, he's a good dad- EVERYBODY IS FUCKING DEAD!'
Luke has finally fully grasped how Overlord does things.
13:13 he already speaked about it, they will not listen to him anyway. All his talk will do - make king look worser.
Luke: "This guy is now under my protection".
* Luke's curse activated *
"There are red flags everywhere man... they are blocking the f*ck*ng Sun !!" You could not help but laugh with this one 🤣🤣
i mean he is very close and saying pretty much the truth
"People who learn history are doomed to see it repeat"
--- i think thats the correct saying lol
As you can see, the Kingdom has two factions - The Royals and the Aristocrats. The Royal faction is loyal to the King, while the Aristocrats want power over the king. Raeven is a balancing level with the Royals and the Aristocrats.
The sad thing here, is that both the kingdom and the empire think Ains isn't super powerful. While Jircniv saw how powerful Ains is, he had hopes there are flaws in Ains enough to defeat him.
As you can see, Lord Raeven is a dotting father.
You missed the '-' after the '2 Months later' So it really was '- 2 Months Later -'
Strongoff has already said his opinion.
"I'm trying to think of an anime more f-ed up"
The Island of Giant Insects comes to mind...
This man is already traumatized lmao...dont worry Luke - the rest of this season and season 4 are my favorite episodes in overlord and im confident ur gonna absolutely LOVE them! Ainz is the G.O.A.T!!
Gloria Al Supremo Gobernante De La Muerte!!! El Rey Hechicero Ainz Ooal Gown!!!
I don’t think you’ve watched enough anime to pass judgement on anime dads.
The flex that Ainz did at the end of the episode, how many of the regular soldiers shat themselves when they saw all the Death Knights? 😂
Also, *squish, squish, squish*! 😈😈😈😈
"splat"
11:31 "Minus two months later. What?"
Not "Minus", this is the symbol for "approximately".
"-" vs "~"
Hard to tell depending on the font.
"I wonder if anyone will realize Momon is Ainz?"
Nfirea: Am I a joke to you?
31:00 Stupid prince here wants to participate in the main battle so badly, he's willing to get there with an army already dying of exhaustion. That's just how insecure he is because he fears his brother can take the inheritance.
31:30 I think you mean this one: "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
I also like this one: "The fool learns from his own mistakes, the wise learns from the mistakes of others."
Luke: "Every dad in anime is the shittiest dad ever!"
Man, these words would hurt Hughes..
11:21 "Oh no, there's red flags everywhere."
Overlord is pretty mean.
Ah eys the spell that will signal the start of the battle. Cant wait for Luke to react just exactly which spell Ainz picked as a good signal.
It's probably next episode that they talked about as their best as I believe next should be my favorite of the anime
XD
28:11 not only would they win, and leave no survivors, but they wouldn't even take any damage at all from fighting said army
The thing is, the way power scailing works in an RPG, (and Yggdrasil was a typical RPG in the old world), probably shown off best by kirito in SAO abridged, you get your numbers high enough and you are basically unkillable, to the point where, given enough time, Ainz could defeat the entire army, by himself, *Without even using magic* when he is a magic caster with no levels in any martial classes
(Though he does have some racial levels which do grant strong but situational defensive buffs)
The basic idea here is he is basically immune to any effects that they could use to stop him killing everyone one by one, and if they tried to run away, that's when he would use magic to make it so that they couldn't, or died, or recon magic to find where they are going, or movement magic like fly which lets him also move faster than any human through the air
Etc etc etc, and that would just be if Ainz was level 70, someone he would consider to be a low level enemy (like the angel he was disappointed by fighting, or the skeletal dragons that Nabe fought)
@@jled787 I had actually forgotten about this part.
Word of appreciation for Marquis Raven's wife. The way the light novel described it, their relationship is a nicely functional political marriage. No love, but they work together well.
Btw Raven was as much of a political bastart as he presents himself to public, when he was younger. Then his son was born and the experience changed him into the overworked dad who tries his hardest infront and behind the scenes to make the kingdom better for his child's sake(even started getting along better with his wife in gratitude for giving him the son).
perfect timing for upload! saves my day :D
Going to the dungeon in Nazerick is far far wose than death
Neronist takes you to a millimetre of your life, then heals you just to repeat the process
And after she's done with you, you're off to Demigure's happy farm or the large hole until they accidentally kill you after a few months
