Harbour Freight vacuum pump, and King of Random has a super cheap design for one.
I made my mother one, for under 100 bucks. It works amazing! My nieces and nephews love to play with it like TKoR, sticking everything they find in it! It works extremely well for degassing epoxy, and silicone molds. Also I made her 3 sized lids, so she can use almost anything as a vacuum chamber, wide low pans for things plate/clock sized, tall skinny stuff, or a standard large crock pot size.
I'd recommend getting a decent pressure cooker pit from a thrift store, as you can be sure it'll handle the pressure well. We've used standard glass jars, regular pots.. etc. As long as they can handle 15psi (atmospheric pressure) backwards it should be okay.
A harbour freight vacuum pump or used one will be 50$ or so, and you can usually find a good sheet of scrap acrylic in 1in thickness for pretty cheap as well.. find a supplier and see if they have any off-cuts (that's how I made 3, I got a big roughly 3x2foot awkward blob shape that let me cut 3 circles out for around 40 bucks! Only 40 bucks!)
Then the Silicone and cornstarch for protoputty is cheap!
So, no excuse man. Get out there and do work! Haha Good luck, and I hope this helped at all.

The next time you make a mold you shoukd put the entire mold in the vacuum chamber once its poured. You can develop air pockets while pouring, putting the entire mold would eliminate that completely and help get a more detailed mold.

Hi, I don't know how much you know about molding etc but as someone that has worked in prosthetic workshops I just wanted to say, Pinkysil is hands down the best silicone molding product ever. Its not too thick, which means it gets every nook and cranny and the setting time is only 30 minutes and as long as you pour from a height you won't need to de-gas it. Its super durable and completely skin safe and I promise this is not sponsored! I just love the stuff. Its relatively affordable too and I could go on and on about it but you get the idea, its great! Hope this could be helpful!
