@@marygirl8291 Thanks so much! We didn’t plan to by a historic home again but we couldn’t resist. Getting too old for big projects. Lol. Sounds like you have had a rough year!

The kitchen is actually very nice, and it could be made to look more victorian, because it has the mouldings on top and the panel on the bottom, cut to make it look like the cabinets have feet 😊 You could consider painting it, fx., paint the lower cabinets, except the island? It could be made to work, certainly 😊

@@bigboy77dk you are exactly right. I was thinking along those same lines since the cabinetry is in great shape. Thanks so much!

@@TheWellEducatedArtist The trick would be to make the kitchen cabinets look like a mix of built ins and freestanding units, side by side. I would actually suggest, depending on budget, etc., that you might even think about rearranging the cabinets, and moving some functions around! I noticed, that you have ceramic built in stovetop in the counter, and built in ovens - but I think nice, vintage looking appliances would be a better choice. I would put in a big, gas stove, centered on the wall, where the fridge is now, and move the fridge to where the ovens are now. The microwave can go in the pantry😊 I would build a big hood vent, maybe in copper? Or painted, on vintage corbels.
It looks like there are plenty of cabinets to play with 😂 But if you end up, needing to add, or replace some, then remember - the whole idea, is to make the kitchen look, like it is a gathering of freestanding pieces, added at different times - and you should consider adding in some antique pieces of furniture/decor. Continue the idea into the breakfast nook, and get a rustic, old wooden table with comfy wood chairs. If you want to make the look really victorian, then the kitchen would be mostly for the staff. And a fun detail could be to find, or recreate one of those Bell boxes, that would alert the maids, if they where needed, and in which room 😂It could be used to disguise some modern, unsightly elements... 😉 Don't forget an antique clock! And, off course... That sun porch would have to become a lovely, little orangerie! Perfect for a couple of rocking chairs, a table for coffee cups, and shelves with assorted plants 😁
Oh I would LOVE a house, like that, and try to bring it back to its glory days... - can you tell? 😂
