I am so jealous!! I was born and raised in Iowa and have always dreamed of restoring a victorian manor like that! Your family is doing an amazing job!! Love you videos!!
I live in a 1908 Queen Anne Victorian in Maine , there are charms of the house's original history all throughout but it has been modernized, it's a duplex and my favorite part about it is the wrap around porch, the back patio is the original one from the 1908 days, cobble stone with a huge backyard, the landlords are turning back into a farm and it's stunning. I could not be more grateful to live in this building.
Your folks have done a wonderful job restoring this home. Later period remodeling can be retained rather than ripped out to go back to full Victorian. I like that it's been incorporated with decor items of several decades. The inlaid floors and pocket doors are so great to have intact, as many times they are gone or seriously damaged. Your folks are fortunate to have three whole fireplaces with the original (and totally fantastic!!!) character tiles. I adore the one with the birds! Fun that they included the lady in the attic. Nice tour, thank you.
When I was a teen, I spent many nights in an old Victorian house. The owner was the youngest daughter of the original builder and owner. All the furniture was as it was when she was young. Being in her 80s, she didn't want to stay by herself. My mom would be there during the day, and I would do my homework there and spend the night. Miss Rife finally went into a care home, and her beautiful home was sold.
How fortunate to live in such an old, and exquisite home! My aunt & uncle lived in a house built in 1890. I loved that house, and we have so many great memories of being there.
I’m so grateful for people like your parents who are restoring these homes so they can be around for other generations to enjoy. These homes also remind us of how life used to be, when people had less than we do now, but they made the absolute most if it. Your mother has amazing taste, this is my dream home!! Very beautiful!!
I love your fairytale house as real home with lots of warmth and history preserved. What I love most you kept the kitchen retro and didn't try to make it modern and that just adds to it. I also love all the unique old furniture in the house. You house is truly full of love and nurture and an inviting home! Beautiful fireplaces with the warmth of the wood and awesome porches. I expect you to host an Alice in wonderland tea party there and Alice and the mad hatter show up!
I just came back to do another visit of your house and I expect to have a Victorian tea party with your mom a zealous and you and your dad is mad hatter! I love the vanities in the bedrooms and stuff that are reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s 1940s I love love that I think your mom and your grandmom had my tasteand I also love all your pictures of the place when it was in the 1800's and then all the family pictures it reminds me of another movie by the same director of Alice in in wonderland with Johnny which is Miss pedigree and her particularchildren in that house also reminds me of your house where in the movie you if you watch the video Tim Burton the director producer does a little thing with the author of the book that's based on this pedigree in her particular children and she he saidhe would go to second-hand shops with his grandma and he would get all these pictures that were like in the 1800's and look at them and go wow you know this tells you an entire storyand you look at the picture and he would say this little girl God she's probably lived and grew up and died by now and is gone but it would have been really cool if I could have ever met her and ask her her story and so they have these time loopswhere they actually go back in the past and meet the people that are in the pictures and the pictures of the people have house like yours it's very magicalan artsy-fartsy and retro and you like oh I want to go back and meet those people in time in part of the story is they have time loops where they actually do that but when I looked at your house againI thought about that it's so cool because it has that history and you see the pictures of people that were in the house in the 1800'sand you wonder about their stories or your mom that lives through world war II and you wonder about their stories it brings all that back and I think about Tim Burton Alice in wonderland and also Miss pedigree in her particular children and keep thinking about your house how magical it isbecause it takes you back in time it has an artsy-fartsy feel it has Windows with lots of painted glass and stuff like that and Miss pedigree in her particular children had a house like that to like a fairytale house it has all those Rich elements of timeand it also and it also has like an addict that you do I wonder what's all in there that probably has lots of history to and you like oh that is so cool thank you thank you for sharing your wonderful fairy tale house it's so cool and like when I saw it the first time I just thought about Alice on the tea party Do me a favor live my dream and having Alice tea party for the rest of of us to dream
Back again and you always see something you didn't see before or appreciate I love absolutely love the yellow kitchen and how retro it is it reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen and also a lot of the stuff that had the old time movie field and it my grandmother's house had some of that stuff to like art deco is stuff your mom's house is super
I love, love, love this house! The retro-fitted appliances were a pleasant surprise! You've done a beautiful job of restoring this gorgeous home. The "porch to nowhere" was funny! And, of course, what Victorian home doesn't need "Victoria" watching your every move looking out of the window!
I can't tell you how much I love your home. I adore Victorian anything. I could move into that home in a heartbeat. Thank you much for sharing your home with us.
I love this house!! So nice to see a Victorian home as it should be, and not overly modernised or blandified. I think the porch that goes nowhere may have been a coffin door originally. I read somewhere that they were common features in a side parlour or dining room which would be used for the departed one to lie in state for several days. then when it came time for burial, the coffin was taken out through that door which was at a hieght that a wagon could be drawn up close to it, or coffin bearers would be able to lift it onto shoulders easily from the outer ground level. That does also tie in with your home being a funeral home at one time so may have also been used for that purpose then. I love the whimsy of the mannequin up in the cupula.
What a beautiful home! I’ve always wanted to live in a Victorian home, but it has been cost prohibitive here on the West Coast. I do enjoy seeing them, so thank you for sharing!
I came upon your video and was so impressed by the home. Your parents should be very proud. I have to say, I find the wallpaper in the bathroom so charming. It reminds me of the movie, "Gigi" Lesley Caron/Louis Jordan/Maurice Chevallier.
Wow that is a beautiful house. It’s a labor of love because the work never ends. We all seem to find our favorite place in our home, mine is my parlor next to the game room upstairs. Well gotta go fix something.
Absolutely gorgeous Victorian home!! You’re so beautiful & I love your melodious voice. Your mother’s furnishings & interior design are perfect. Thank you for the great pleasure of touring your family’s amazing home!! Have there been any ghostly activities?
Beautiful thank you for sharing I have so much Victorian furniture can hardly wait to display it correctly I have a cottage that I am in the process of fixing

I was raised in a home made in 1900 but had to move out since owners decided to sell the home. But since then I see regular homes so boring that house had so much character and tall rooms and airy, I feel now that I’m older a home like this is calling me back. Might look for one in the future to purchase and love! Thank you for the video!
That was fun - the antiques made it even better. If you do the research on your fireplace tiles you'll find out they're famous people like Cleopatra or something . So many people have a house like this, but it's not this complete.
That chandelier with the white glass in the master suite is made out of milk glass. I collect milk glass vases & dishware sets but I never knew they made chandeliers with milk glass it’s nice to see.
Its beautiful, my dream home, they have homes like that in north central missouri, only I want it on 40 acres with corn fields, ponds horse's ect Im dreaming again !
Kudos to your folks for restoring this beauty. Takes a lot of time and dough. I hope it's not a Money Pit! If you've never seen that movie, I highly recommend it.😊
Beautiful work that your parents have done! I know I'm late to viewing your video but I wanted to share some knowledge. If the clothing that's stored in the attic is antique and/or vintage, keep in mind that natural fabrics need to breathe & not be kept on hangers for long periods. If they hang too long, they start getting pulled downward by gravity & will cause the piece to deform itself. Maybe the plastic covering the hanging clothing is a breathable plastic? If not, make sure to air them out. Apologies for the long note, but, I have worked with antique and vintage clothing since I was 20 (56 now) and these are things a lot of people don't know. Oh, and if you fold them away, use acid-free paper to wrap them, same for shoes too. Thank you so much for the tour, it's a beautiful home 🙂
We have these types of homes in Ohio. Thank you for letting us see inside this one. Very unique for today's living and pretty amazing that it's been kept near its original condition.
You and your family are blessed most Americans would love to own that property to protect and preserve it’s beautiful American heritage and it’s beautiful history you are blessed 😇 ❤️😇🗽✡️🇺🇸✝️🙏☮️🎹🥰🌸👏🥇✝️
OOhh, Golly!! 😍😍 The woodwork in that house is ah-mazing!! The corner guards on the 2nd floor! The parquet and bordered floors on the first floor! Those mantels! The fretwork, even on the 2nd floor! That’s very unusual. 😍 Please, what town in Iowa is this beautiful house in? I’m an old house fan, and I live in eastern Nebraska. I like to go to Council Bluffs and enjoy the beautiful Victorian houses there.

You should do a video tour of your home, too! I bet it's spectacular!
So lovely to see a beautiful victorian was kept with all the integrity in tact and not remuddled.

The door to nowhere was a feature of many funeral homes. Caskets were brought in and out through this door.
That’s right!
Love this home. So glad your family loves and cares for this Victorian beauty.

Fantastic! Can we see some the mechanicals? Boiler and radiators, electric switches (I saw push-button), lighting and how the pocket doors are hung.
