Protecting Chainstay - 3M Scotch 2228 Mastic Rubber Goodness

This tape is actually sold for chain stay protection and it meant to be safe for paint work and easy to remove the leftover residue with some IPA/Alcohol wipes.
I'm quite happy with how this came out and it should do a good job at protecting the frame.
I know you can use a tyre or those neoprene Velcro protectors but saw this tape about 2 years ago but never had a nice enough frame to warrant using it until I got my Big Dog 29er frame.

I saw another video where a guy cut up the tape and made flaps- main idea was to take away noice. Did not manage to make it look nice when I tried… but the way you do it, its like I used to do with old tubes, except I had to finish with a knot or zip-tie. Does it take away chain chatter like you have it?

Yes it takes away a lot of the noise from the chain slap, similar to if you have one of those neoprene protectors that normally come with the frame/bike from new.

I always measure 10 times and cut just once. And I cut it the wrong way of course 😅
