I'm a retired hairdresser. This is one of the very best video's on transitioning your hair to grey/silver. I'm silver with level 5 brown (faded color) on the ends- it is a little long. So, I am going to try your formula after lightening my hair first. Thanks XOX
I am a natural brunette and have been grey for years, but just on my crown. In 2020 I decided to go all grey but slowly, so my hairdresser started the process of bleaching my hair - to the point that I was blond and I hated it, I'm a brunette after all, and when I looked in the mirror all I saw was orange hair (when I see pictures I don't even know it is me because it was a beautiful blond color). I hated the blond so much that I decided in March of 2023 to stop coloring my hair and just go grey naturally. Almost 6 months later, I have about 3 inches of new growth and it is black and grey, and I love it. I recently asked my hairdresser if there was anything that could be done to get rid of these blond ends (after I cut 3 inches off at my appointment and an inch at the prior appointment). She actually told me no, I'm super bummed that she said this since I have been doing research for the past 6 months and knew that I could. Before bleaching my hair, I colored it myself using Wella products. This video has inspired me to do it again. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out!
Very good video. You are one of the few people who actually get right to the point with all the details, but without rambling...lol. Thanks, will definitely try your method.
I tried this today and it worked beautifully! Then I went to Sally's to buy more Wella 050 and 10 volume developer, and the girls there asked me how I got my hair color. I told them about this video and they were both really surprised that the 050 works so well without T14 or 18 added to it. Thank you so much for this video!
Wow, this is probably the smartest analysis and the best result I have seen from a non-professional. Moreover what you had to correct was not an easy problem. Impressive!
Thank you for the incredibly helpful "transitioning to gray" coloring tip. It has given me the courage to try the T14/050 I've had here for a few weeks. I definitely do not want to resume coloring my hair but needed some temporary method to help blend it while my hair grows out. Your video has been inspirational.
@@lf9341 The T14/050 allowed me to blend my previous colored hair while transitioning to my natural gray. The 20V developer used with the wella toner did lift/lighten the old hair color while giving it a cooler tone, (which was helpful). It was not an exact match but certainly an improvement over faded light brown hair color. I didn't leave it on my natural gray more than several minutes and later switched to 10V. (The ammonia/peroxide is very drying.) My layered hair is shoulder length and completely grown out after 21 months. Toning the previously colored hair made the process bearable.
How whould I go about closing my own hair Grey's because my own hair is already grey Okay's and by the way I 💕 Love your hair Okay's I think you really did a good job coloring your own hair Okay's yesss and Aman's 🇱🇷🙏💯🙏🙏
I have been wanting to do this for years. I watched video after video, and I was so worried about the ratio of the toner to the 050 addictive. So many showed this certain ratio. When I saw you mix both bottles, I thought, oh no, that's 'wrong'. But I was wrong. It came out great! I think it actually makes you look younger, even before you added make-up. BTW: I tried it the ratio way, and it worked out fine for me. I appreciate you taking the time to post this.
I just used this same grey hair dye recipe about a week ago. The 1st result was spotty grey coverage. I applied some more toner and it came out much better. I still see brassy blonde in the back. So... I'm with give it a 3rd application of the toner and purple next week... Hopefully 3 times is a charm. Thank you for sharing... so many youtubers seem to be bragging how they are on a "grey journey" letting their grey hair grow for X amount of time. Blah, blah, blah! God Bless em'!!... However, I'm with you! I would feel trashy like a homeless person with a big grey blob on the top of my hair. Looks like a bird crapped on my head!
I just did this. It turned out amazing. Ok maybe a couple blotches but that was my application that failed. It’s really going to be a game changer for growing out my gray hair. So happy. I am so grateful you made this video. ❤
sitting here with this toner in my hair & had a panic moment when it looked purple so this was rly helpful for me. you look stunning btw! the grey has some blue undertones that make your eyes pop- maybe consider a grey-blue bc I think you’d rock it!!!!!
Hey there! The outcome was good and I haven't read the comments section but just an FYI, you mentioned that it's a temporary toner and it most certainly isn't when you use any developer whatsoever, especially a 20 vol. To be deemed temporary, you have to use a direct deposit dye😊
Hi 👋 I have gray hair i watch your video and tried the wella 050 first time it came out really good. Thank you! So I'll give you a present. Present. Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil to your hair dye very good for hair. Thank 🙏
Wow! That looks so pretty. I have the same situation with gray I'm growing out and blonde on the length. I have T18 and 050 that I was going to mix together, but maybe I will just use the 050 instead.
Thank you for this video, after watching this video I went to Sally’s got what you recommended. I did my hair , which was highlighted for many years , long story short. I love my hair , all the blond is gone. My hair looks healthy and now it can grow out with out me stressing about having to cut it ..
Jeez I feel stupid. I asked in a previous comment how long this lasts and I just watched it again without a bunch of distractions going on around me, and you clearly talked about that. Sorry. 🤦🏼 Again, I’m so, so thankful that you did this, and I love your personality.
I LOVE your color! My current color is very similar to your original and I haven't colored it myself in so long I needed a refresher... Great tutorial!
Awesome look.. thank you I’ve been trying to find a way to go natural with my grey also.. I enjoy watching because of your natural country girlish personality instead of some of the “ bubble heads” on TH-cam 🤪 Thanks again
i absolutely appreciate this video... its the easiest simplest way to dye hair silver that ive ever seen...... thank you for making it soooo easy to understand.....
You are beautiful and the gray is awesome!!! I was very depressed after bleach processing my hair, and then using a metallic silver boxed dye only to have it fade out within 2 weeks. I was so disgusted with the color after it faded because it was more of a brown so I stripped the color out with vitamin C. I have considered getting a buzz cut and wearing hats and wigs for 2 years until the natural gray grows long again. -After watching your video I have hope that I can fix my color issue. Thank you.
galadriel511 yes! You can do it! Butttt, this does fade after 2-3 washes too. ☹️ I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you thought it would last longer. Also, try 10 volume developer!! It’s a new way I started doing it that gives the same outcome but with less damage to my hair! ♥️♥️♥️
Super cool! This is what I've been looking for. I'm going from about your shade of blonde to pretty much all white I think on the whole front of my head to salt and dark ash blonde in the back half. I really just want to go all natural looking over night without having to buzz my hair off, if possible and without spending $1500+ at a salon to do it (ridiculous), so very happy to have found your vid! Thanks so much!!
You are really pretty. Ash colours, I suspect are perfect for your colouring including your eyes(your eye colour pops because of the hair colour). Jet black, platinum and other ash derivatives' are very nice on your colouring. Thanks for sharing.
I love this and I will be trying it today! My grays are basically just like yours and the purple shampoo can only do so much. Can’t wait for it to fully grow out
Looks fab, I have just bought this, can't wait to use it. But may I just say, you're suppose to use a 10 vol with the toner, for depositing only. Just less damage for your locks.
I love it! Absolutely beautiful. I'm going to go short (pixie)in a couple of days and he is going to strip off the remaining brown on top to match my all gray. 😳 Wish me luck. It will be pretty much pixie which I'm okay with it. I tried a bob first (last week) and was going to let it grow but I just decided get rid of it. I want some length on top so that's what he will be stripping off. I'm old and should have embraced my gray 8 years ago but corporate world can be ugly. No worries about them anymore Thank God!
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! So I colored a frontal and a bundle using the water color method and it came out great then I had a bundle that first was too purple, then too blue, then too green so I decided too use the Dawn dish detergent too strip it back white as I could get it .I then followed you step by step and that bundle is gouuuurrrrrrgouse😁😁😁
You did a beautiful job in my opinion I didn't think it would do anything because i watch all girls using toners on your color hair and it doesn't do anything So i was happy to see it work for u so now i can do my hair lol Thank you for sharing
This looks so good with your eyes and skin tone. I think I'm going to have my stylist do the next bleach and tone, because my hair is long and curly and I totally miss spots when I do it myself, but I love your result.
I did just my bangs and mixed 1 oz of t18 with .5 oz of the 050 my hair came out way too purple .I have tried washing it 4 times so far so make sure you patch test I can feel the potential ! Thank you for this video
I like your neutral gary hair and I like the hair dye too, it's a good idea to not bleach your hair all the time but I don't have much gary on the front so I need to fry it off to get tha lovely colour😁
Hairstylist of 34 years here. Nice colour but, you will NEVER grow your grey out and be able to stop colouring because you’re using 20 volume. 20 volume is lightening the natural pigment of your hair. So when the toner washes off, you’re left with a level 10 warm blonde. Find a demi or semi permanent colour to tone your hair, as it has a low volume developer, anywhere from 4-10 volume, and it will not lighten your natural hair.
I love that you were able to make grey look so good and I love the style and dimension of grey's. I hate it when women resort to poodle perms or short pixie cuts. To me it just says hey I give up.
This color blends perfectly with your grow out, just need to re-apply to the yellowish spots toward the top and midshaft. I love it, wonder how long it lasts and how it fades..
You are so right. I had bleached my hair from salt and pepper to a super, almost white blond. I had one strand in the front that refused to go any lighter and was a little darker. When I did this, that spot looks really strange. So if you reapply to those spots, it should blend in better?
This is so helpful because my blonde roots are going very silver, and I'm growing out bleached midlengths, so it was great to see the color transformation on hair similar to mine. Plus you have the same eye color and skin coloring as I do, so very very helpful - thank you! I'd love to see how the growout is going/how it went!
Your hair turned out really pretty. Thanks for the video. I'm actually getting ready to do the same myself.🙄😮 My hair is bleached to platinum blonde, but is currently covered by medium blonde Demi (looks med brown), that I'm getting ready to remove it without using bleach. (lol I hope). I have no idea how far down my grey has reached since I've had it covered with Demi for about 2 years now, so it could be very interesting. I attempted the grey transformation when I initially bleached to platinum, but my hubby was very ill and later passed away, so it was too hard to try to maintain it during that time, so I just put the Demi on it. Before that though, the toners would show up on my hair as blue, green, purple, pink, and some would just completely mud out when mixed, so I never really found one that worked for me. I di trying mixing the 050 with T18, T14, and Pravana Silver, but it seemed to just mud my hair color out. I've never tried it by itself so I'm hoping that's going to be a better option. At nearly 60 yrs old, I really don't like the young kids colors lol on my hair for even a few washes, but finding a true silver/grey toner that didn't do that wasn't easy. Have A Wonderful Day/Night!
My natural gray is turning dishwater blonde on the ends from whatever… The sun, my well water, styling tools. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing has worked to cancel it out yet and I’ve experimented a lot, so I’m gonna try this, looks easy enough!
i am a cosmetologist and you did 110% wonderful job!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree! She did a great job!
She did it’s beautiful 🤩
Could you achieve the same color if you used a vol 10 developer?? Being that your hair is at a level 10 blonde shade.
I'm a retired hairdresser. This is one of the very best video's on transitioning your hair to grey/silver. I'm silver with level 5 brown (faded color) on the ends- it is a little long. So, I am going to try your formula after lightening my hair first. Thanks XOX

The lower the volume developer the longer the toner will last. 20 volume lifts color. Use 5 volume . Looks good 👍
Your eyes popped immediately, I love it. Trying first time, I usually use t14
It looks gorgeous!!! Your blue eyes are so stunning with the grey hair.
Great! Straight to the point, products and amounts used, info tidbits/ pointers, and finished results. Boom, done.

You could check out a toning conditioner, like overtone (there’s a brand I can’t think of that’s available to Ulta too) to gray it up more.
Thank you so much, I have the same issue, tried it and had perfect results. Wish I could share a pic
Wow, dramatic change. Looks great! 👌
You make that grey look so great! Congrats!
It came out beautiful. Wow.
You’re beautiful, and the Jaír came out amazing, thank you☺️
Gorgeous! It looks just as good or better than what you might pay hundreds for in a salon. PS your eyes are beautiful :)

Looks fab, I have just bought this, can't wait to use it. But may I just say, you're suppose to use a 10 vol with the toner, for depositing only. Just less damage for your locks.
Yes but on virgin gray u need the 20
Gorgeous 😍! What would happen if you put that on brown hair with orangish highlights?
Love the color. Beautiful outcome.
I'm a cosmetologist and I think you did an excellent job
You look like Scarlett Johansson !!!!! OMG or Amber Heard !! The color is awesome, loved the video !
Your video is the easiest to follow and the color looks great. Thank ypu

Oh my gosh!!! That is gorgeous.
Wow, that looks beautiful! I worry if I did it myself like you did if it would icome out looking as nice.
Absolutely beautiful
I love it, good job from a hairdresser 👍
That color matches your eyes so well.
omg your eyes are so stunningly beautiful!!!
You did a beautiful job in my opinion
I didn't think it would do anything because i watch all girls using toners on your color hair and it doesn't do anything
So i was happy to see it work for u so now i can do my hair lol
Thank you for sharing
looks gorgeous - beautiful result enjoy!
Wow, it looks so good!!
Omg it looks so good ! I wonder if you kept growing it out and what it looks like now
How does it look now?
I have dark brown hair but would love to try that cool violet, it may not look so pretty on me. I use cinnamon brown or the eggplant color.
This looks so good with your eyes and skin tone. I think I'm going to have my stylist do the next bleach and tone, because my hair is long and curly and I totally miss spots when I do it myself, but I love your result.
how was it?
I did just my bangs and mixed 1 oz of t18 with .5 oz of the 050 my hair came out way too purple .I have tried washing it 4 times so far so make sure you patch test I can feel the potential ! Thank you for this video
Nicely explained... Good job.. Nice shade. .
Wow!! It’s so pretty!!!❤
I like your neutral gary hair and I like the hair dye too, it's a good idea to not bleach your hair all the time but I don't have much gary on the front so I need to fry it off to get tha lovely colour😁

like artic fox gray ?
Or simply use 10 developer. As a hair dresser you should have offered her that option. ✌️
@@artsyfartsystuff4277she clearly wrote to use between 4-10 volume!
Yeah . I do the same for my beard @@artsyfartsystuff4277
Wow it looks so beautiful and is perfect on you
I use the T18 and 050 to get the most gorgeous platinum Grey but it only lasts a few days. How can I get that permanent grey?!?
Hello, perhaps you could tell me if a dark brown hair dye would accept that grey? , it looks amazing on you, congratulations.
It turned out pretty. Good job girl 🌹
So if you reapply to those spots, it should blend in better?
amazing result with makeup!!
I think it looks great. This will solve the nasty blond at the bottom of my hair.
Thank you. Your hair came out great. Thank you taking the time to explain the process. Know I can apply it to my friend.
Did it work?
