I have the same situation. I tried having this done years ago when I first began graying. The best I could get was blonde highlights. They were fine but not the gray I wanted. I tried again recently and was told I’d only be able to get the blonde like before. That the gray/silver wouldn’t really take and, even if it did, wouldn’t last. It’s frustrating to see stylists doing such wonderful cuts, color, etc on social media then be told it can’t happen for me or in real life. Is it lack of skill or continued education? Or what?

@@gloriawelles5534 it could be the color line they’re working with. Some brands are just better than others. If they’re independently working they can pick and choose to work with different color lines and tailor things to their clients. If they’re working for a company they typically have to stay using what color line is provided.

I cut my hair and then all my grey and dark hair blended in pretty nicely naturally!! I guess that's the only thing I can say I'm lucky with and that I didn't have to embrace my grey by bleaching and hair coloring. I really like how her hair came out. BEAUTIFUL!!!

Absolutely beautiful. This is how my stylist transitioned my hair from golden-dyed brown to grey I had grown out about 3" of gray it turned out very well for me. You will be in the chair for a while but I have not had to go back for any more color changes.

I was so disappointed with the results. I now have blonde highlights which I didn’t notice in the Shop because of the lighting there. When I got home I saw that I am now blonde. She didn’t offer to correct it just offered a discounted haircut. I wish there was someone like you here in Tucson Arizona
I’ve grown out my blonde hair and am now fully grey. Hardly anyone has noticed! No more bleach stripping my hair of moisture. I’ve fully embraced being grey now that I’m 63 😊

I have so been debating not getting my gray touched up. I have year of grow out and likely not too much brunette left once I get a much needed chop. I'll be 52 soon, so not sure I'm all ready to stay gray, but this look was stunning. If I can find a stylist who can help me, definitely a possibility. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Idk if you mentioned this or not but the difference in price between doing this on virgin hair or hair that's been previously colored is quite different as well. When you've been coloring your hair and we have to remove color to make your hair a different color that is called a color correction and is billed as one bc it is a different and trickier process that can require multiple sessions and tons of product and time. Usually these are billed by the hour. A lot of people don't understand the difference I think and expect hairdressers to be magic wizards and just put a lighter color on top of a darker color but it doesn't work like that! I didn't know this until I was a hairdresser so I think others may not understand this either. We can work miracles but those miracles are stressful and require time, product, knowledge, skill and that's what you pay extra for.... 😊
Omg so pretty!!!!!!!!! I’m trying to grow out my grey but I don’t have enough to do something like this! I’m like 10% with a stripe in front. I feel like my only option is to just grow it out cold turkey haha luckily my colored hair is the same level as my natural!

Would you please post again the name of the toner shampoo that you use and recommend? I just completely changed from tinting my hair a light brown dark blonde but quite a demarcation as the gray was growing in to a gray blonde full head of foils. I'm a little bit uncomfortable with the lack of contrast and I think I'm going to ask my hairdresser to just do a mini partial and put some lowlights in it just for contrast.

I love this! I'm a hair "virgin". haha. Haven't realy dyed my hair in years (last time was for a halloween outfit). I'm 39 and can see grays coming in. I feel like my hair feels kind of....blah. Dishwater with gray. I've been talking to my hair lady about maybe doing something that highlights my grays but is low maintenance. I may need to show her this.
