As a Scout alumni this is incredible. I marched 7 shows at Rockford and have only respect for the the Phantom Regiment, its alumni, marching members and fans. What an honor it is to have had them play "Never Walk" with our current members and a big "thank you" to whoever recorded and posted this. One suggestion however. Make the solo into a duet, perhaps having the soloists trade off bars for the first two motifs and then join in a harmonized finale. That would look and sound AMAZING.....YNA!
To this day I still cannot get thru our song (either singing or listening) without crying. My journey to and with Scouts in 1999 was a great challenge that MYNWA means so much more than just some notes played or words sung. It is my Life. Thanks for sharing this............MYNWA, 1999 rook-out
two amazing corps ( phantom is my favorite and Madison is my best friends favorite) coming together and playing music, something I wish was more common
I was at the show. This was a powerful moment and a beautiful sentiment. Two great Midwest corps that both had fantastic performances. You could tell that there was mutual respect between the horn lines. Thanks PR for a great show!
Literally my two favorite corps. Madison wi, and Rockford Ill. Are so close to each other these two really should do more together even though they compete throughout the year. Phantoms cannon warm up is amazing, yes a warm up takes my breath away. The power of a well tuned melodic horn section that is anchored by heavy bass chases the breath out of my lungs.
We did this song when I was in the McNeese St. U. marching band in the fall of 1980. Our version had a tremendous crescendo towards the end that would take your hat off! Ahh, the memories. 🎼🎺🎵🎶
Simply amazing....the power that 2 amazing troups bring. Cant wait to see DCI in Atlanta July 28th!! If you dont have your tickets yet.....its a must see!!
Who was the soloist? What an honour! Thanks Phantom, very classy! As a Scout that had two daughters we're hoping she may want to join your ranks someday and this cements it. Goosebump city!
SCV used to do this with us, in the day, sometimes... what i wouldn't give for a non-camcorder recording, so you could hear this with the added beef of Phantom's low brass..... now somebody just let the DM hold out the focal notes as long as they deserve to be, and you have perfection. :)
As solid as this is, it's too bad that Madison stopped using the arrangement of "YNWA" that they used in the early '80s -- it had so much more natural flow and drama than the current one, and really brought out the "French horn" sound of the mellophones. To hear today's technically-aggressive groups play with that kind of grown-up musical refinement again would be a thrill.
You don't understand how conducting works. If he listens to the corps, it will slow down. The sound you are hearing has already happened. He is perfect.
Umm, you do know that sound travels more slowly than light, right?... this timing "lag" is a by-product (and way of life) of creating music across a football field's depth.
Having just listened to the time 6 corps play this at the same time, I gotta say G bugles were a lot more powerful but these horns blend many times better
We'll just attribute the soloist's lack of proper tuning and confidence to the tears that must have been pouring down his face. Wow. What a performance!

Holy Moly, I have goosebumps a mile high!!!!!
Here's to the camaraderie of corps around the world! Friends and memories forever.

Wisconsin and Illinois fierce competitors in many different arenas, but also long friends and respectful brothers. This was wonderful!
This was so awesome. Thank you Madison for this opportunity to play alongside you guys!

Incredible! Thank you so much Phantom Regiment for honoring the Madison Scouts on their 75th anniversary. Very classy. MYNWA.

Indeed, that was the purpose of it in the beginning anyway...Drum Corps an activity to UNITY, not to separate :)

These things can never happen enough. We always need reminders that DCI is so much more than competition. It's community.
Just watching all those horns go up tore my heart out!!!
They should go to Liverpool and perform this just imagine it with everyone singing it
I want to hear Phantom and Crown play something together. I would have so many feels.
This is drum corps ladies and gentlemen, this is beautiful
Madison Scouts brass only came in .2 behind Phantom Regiment. So beautiful.
Simply amazing....the power that 2 amazing troups bring. Cant wait to see DCI in Atlanta July 28th!! If you dont have your tickets yet.....its a must see!!

Still brings goose bumps to me.

I remember there were several of us in the audience were fairly choked up at this momentous milestone.
Nice. Very, very nice. Wish my speakers could come close to capturing the bass sound as it is live. Nothing compares to live.
Well done by both Corps!
You can certainly tell the difference between a trumpet and a bugle in this version.
I cried a bit.
for moments like these my friend (,:
That ripple :')
Wow. Awesome.
WHEN I PLAYED, WE THOUGHT WE WERE GREAT. DRUM CORP NOW I WISH I COULD START ALL OVER . JUST GREAT STUFF.
we ALL wish that we could do it all again...trust me!!!
trumpet solo was a tad sharp. but i don't think id do any better infront of a crowd that huge

What I would give to have been there
the hornline plays with the drum major, but the sound does not get to the audience until after the down beat happens... duh.

any idea who did the solo?
i can assure you that was the case.
Nope, ripple wasn't even and didn't end in the center. Do it again
Clay Powell Tuba's require more rooms so yeah. :)
We'll just attribute the soloist's lack of proper tuning and confidence to the tears that must have been pouring down his face. Wow. What a performance!
MYNWA
The DM was off tempo, that's hilarious! As a drummer, I heartily agree with that comment always.
Brass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If only they were playing bugles 😔
the performance as a whole was awesome but the drum major was distracting and seemed to be off tempo
Whats the point of drums corps anyway???
