Tears, goose bumps, more tears. I second you 'DahEnforcer'-"Hard to explain how a grown man can be brought to tears over a song. For those who know, no explanation is needed. For the rest of you, there are not words to adequately describe the brotherhood bond we share." MYNWA........
MY opinion may be swayed a bit as I am an alumni, and was there standing with the rest of my brothers singing, but what a brilliant idea to involve the crowd in singing with the Corps.
I marched Velvet Knights 89-91. Obviously not a MS alum, but have always been a fan - saw the show in San Antonio 7/20 and bawled like a baby. The Madison Scouts have always been a class act, and seeing this video warms my heart. Well done Scouts!
Drums on Parade will forever be MY introduction to the Scouts!!! I have attended every year since I moved to the Madison Area! 4 years and goin strong!!!!!
It was frustrating to miss Drums on Parade this year. Watching this clip with my Brothers singing while the skinny Scouts played, I had tears flowing freely. Hard to explain how a grown man can be brought to tears over a song. For those who know, no explanation is needed. For the rest of you, there are not words to adequately describe the brotherhood bond we share. Best wishes little brothers for the 75th! MYNWA
This was my brother’s first year of Madison scouts. He’s been in glassmen (rip) the year prior but this really made an impression on him. He’s gone so far and he recalls this moment in his first Madison year often even though he wasn’t an alumnus or long term member. Will always love this corp
I miss the Glassmen so much man. I sat next to one of the parents at my first ever DCI regional and they talked with me about all of the Corps, specifically Glassmen and Teal Sound, and about the family atmosphere within all the corps. Two absolute legends of organizations gone far, far too soon. My ex-girlfriend actually dated one of the Glassmen quadline members waaaay back when. Personally, I *would* have marched Glassmen, any day of the week. I never got to match due to age-out before I could get the funds, but I did a season of WGI Percussion. Those are moments I cherish. After Glassmen folded, my next choices were Phantom or Bluecoats quadline. Even if I didn't march, I'll never take the moments I shared with the ones who did for granted and I'll always be driven because of that initial goal. I had friends from my years in college with the Marching Southerners from all walks of life and multiple corps. Bluecoats Phantom Cavaliers Music City Drum Corps Atlanta CV Blue Knights Blue Stars Colts Mandarins Seattle Cascades Troopers Spirit of Atlanta Blue Devils International Blue Devils A Cadets Carolina Crown Crossmen Madison Scouts Boston Crusaders If you can, just do it. Go march. Anyone reading this, it doesn't matter what corps... Just do a season if you can in honor of those who couldn't.
Excellent to see so many 2006 Soprano Family members in the clip. Thanks for representing the Family "Big T," "Bugsy," "Vette Boy" and whoever else I missed.
yeah i was really disappointed with where everyone place in my opinion they were 10 times better than the blue devils, the crown, and the cadets but thats just my opinion
This was from 2013....which was the 75th anniversary of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps (the corps on the field....don't know if you're a corps fan or not). The closer (last musical chart in the show) was :"You'll Never Walk Alone," which has been the corps song for Madison for decades, and is pretty much a sacred thing with them. The folks in the audience standing and singing are all alums of the corps. Usually, they'll play an instrumental version in private, singing it on special occasions (like before championships. A Madison alum can confirm this...we didn't have such a tradition when I was in Blue Devils). I don;t know if the drum major conducting the alums was written in or a one-time thing for this peformance, tho.
One of my most treasured performing moments. Can't beat the feeling of 75 years screaming for you. :D
Just saw this for first time! Mom of 2 Madison Scout Alumni! Tears and goosebumps!! Blessings! 🎶💚💚🎶⚜
