rust belt auto, i’m not subscribed to your channel, nor have i heard of you. but today God answered my prayers and led me here. i own a 2009 honda fit and the starter needed to be replaced. bought the new part at autozone and took it to a mechanic to have them swap it out. i drove home, stupidly not checking the sound of the new starter at the mechanic’s, to get familiar with it and ask any questions. when i got home and turned on the car again and heard the sound of the new starter (the same exact sound in this video) i started crying because this sound seemed so foreign to me (and i feel like you don’t hear many cars that sound this way). i knew my car was fine but felt uneasy because of the new sound it made starting up. for an hour i have been trying to find discussions or videos on how a new starter for my car would sound when installed, trying to see if this sound is normal. which led me to your channel. i felt instant relief when i watched this video because it gave me the clarity to think “of course my car is normal!” thank you again, this is my first car and i have realized how big of a responsibility cars truly are. keep uploading these kinda of video bro. i appreciate you. subscribing now.

Thanks for your video! Oddly enough my 2011 GG6 has a different transmission, I guess. It is the CVT and the bolt at 2:44 is blocked by the housing. I am still trying to figure out how to get to this one. Apart from that, I really appreciate your effort!

Hey, so I am getting the cold start / starter hanging up. I was probably going to buy the reman at the dealer ($300) because the new one is $700! The job looks enough of a pain in the rear that I don't want to buy a cheap aftermarket and have to do it again in a year. A lot of the aftermarket's come with lifetime though. That makes me lean more toward an aftermarket with lifetime (because the cost will be one time). Any advice on what is the better scenario? My fear is that I get a reman from the dealer and it goes bad in a few years. The original starter lasted a long time (but initially didn't see much use). Any advice is appreciated. Or what aftermarket might be high enough quality?

I have had the same or better luck with new Chinese starters. The new are pretty much all the same reboxed China. Doesnt matter what the box says.

@@RustBeltAuto Hey, how did you get the starter in the hole??? I seem to have interference. I measured diameter of old vs new starter outer ring. Both appear to be same to good precision. Is starter supposed to press-fit into hole by hand action alone, or do you press it in with bolts??? I have been tearing my hands in the dark for two hours now. Both the connector does not seem to engage all the way on the RockAuto starter, and it does not want to go in the hole as well. Please help!!!!!
