18:45 - Actually, one of the main draws for Bruce Campbell signing onto Congo WAS the fact that it was shot on-location! He mentions in his autobiography that he was on location for like a month but was only needed one or two days a week - so he used his per-diem allowance to go surfing, go scuba diving, take scenic tours and so on. Work in a gorgeous tropical setting with lots of stuff to do outside of work AND it's all on the company dime? SIGN ME UP.

His role was originally written for Sean Connery, as the book was originally going to be made into a movie in the early 80's, but it never got made and Connery declined to do it once the movie was actually being made.

The mystery of "what are these diamonds for" works much better in the book. It's stated ERTS wants them as semiconductors for a sort of GPS system, but it's alluded that they also can be used for advanced laser weaponry. Some true early 80s shit.

"I love how everyone hates Tim Curry in this movie" Of course they do, everyone always hates Tim Curry, that's the gag. That's why he plays such a wonderful jerk. He does play the villain from time to time but usually he's just the egotistical, self-centered jerk and every time you see that big smile of his you just want to knock his teeth out.
The only exception i can think of is The Hunt for Red October, mostly because he is barely in it.

One of my childhood favorites (for whatever reason).
The apparent explanaition for the look of the gray gorillas: according to "The Winston Effect" (the book on Stan Winston Studios), the sfx crew weren't given much direction on their design. All they were told was "they're winding down genetically". That's it. So Winston Studios tried to make them look inbred, with missing digits, club feet, and the like. If this was an isolated population with no genetic input from other gorillas then inbreeding could be an issue. And Winston admits in the book that the gorillas (real and gray) were not their best work.

21:28 I really wanted to hear what Kieran had to say about Ferngully The Last Rainforest. I remember it being all over the place in the early 90's, and I eventually did see it at some point in the 90's, thought it was okay for a kids animation and quickly forgot about it. What does interest me though about Ferngully is the comparisons made with James Cameron's Avatar, since that released, people have gone as so far to say that Cameron outright plagiarised Ferngully.
Something to talk about the in the future maybe.

I feel I have to interject something (that you might already probably know):
That "True Lies guy"- his name is Grant Heslov...and after playing only supporting roles for a majority of his acting career, he's apparently learned alot about the In's and Out's of the movie business.
He's been best friends and business partners with George Clooney since, like, 1982(?). Along the way, he's also become a very successful movie producer: "Good night and Good Luck", "The Ides of March", among others.
He was one of the producers for "Argo" for which he received a frikin' Oscar for in 2013. He's been NOMINATED for an Oscar over 3 times for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay.
I used to know him as the "Congo Guy" myself but, as of late, I think he's payed his dues and earned his own name I think, lol.

Definitely doesn't look quite as good as "Jurassic Park" (still haven't read the book on that one), but it looks like a fun, dumb kind of Sci-Fi B-movie with plenty of action and suspense, and not to mention the top notch Stan Winston special effects. May give this one a full watch sometime so I can fully judge it. Great episode guys.

The only thing I never liked about the film was the ending. I thought the ending was so crappy because nothing actually gets resolved except the main actors surviving. Linney wanted to find her boyfriend but you already know he's dead. She's sent to get a diamond but she launches it off a balloon out of spite. Amy is irresponsibly rereleased into the wild despite spending most of her life in captivity. Like anyone with a basic Animal Planet education knows that was her death sentence.
