+jt33396 That is the best way to examine a game and min/max it. Always seen in PC games, rarely seen in console games. Thankfully this is on both. I've been using your excel sheet since I started playing gtav in 2015. Belated thanks. This may not apply for racing, and I'm not sure where it would be in teh programming, but there was one thing that completely changed my mind on offroad tires that I never expected. Back when I used to fly my Deluxo everywhere, my favorite thing was to turn off the hover mode and drop right down to where I wanted to park (I still wish the OMkII could do this). After having high end wheels on it for a few months, I put offroad tires on it on a whim. I instantly noticed that with the offroad tires, when I dropped in, my Deluxo stopped much more neatly. Dropping in with high end always created a little slip, but the difference with offroad was noticeable. Like I say, this may not come out from racing tests, but it was so noticeable that it completely reshaped my thinking about offroad wheels. I encourage you to try this simple test and see if you notice any change :)
I watched the video and moved on......however, the clear, simple, STRAIGHT FORWARD content forced me to go back and give a very deserving like, and appreciation comment. Very informative and useful video, thanks and keep it up.

There is a lot merit in this argument because what the test accounts for is just the tire clipping value. Regardless of this clipping or not off roads/tuners/lowriders will still improve the ride over bumps as the size of the side wall will still have an effect.
This is a nice video! I would love to see an updated version after doomsday DLC dripfeed is done, but if not i still appreciate this information and all that you do. good job broughy!
The Elegy RH8 is marked as no tire clipping, but I am pretty sure I have experienced tire clipping with this car and tuner wheels. Anyone have any thoughts?
even so after so much use its become almost tradition to some. i guess its more of a style thing for those that want their adder to have tires that look like can take a beating, or paper thin tires to express their cars look( or obnoxiousness) good to know. thanks for sharing this information to us, and those like my self who have been offline for quite along time. hope you keep having a wonderful GTA ONLINE experience. and wonderful days to come. ^-^
Great video once again. My favorite point that you made is that every aspect of software is there for a reason. The clipping feature sounds half hearted, doesn't it? I think it's an example of getting software good enough to work but not being able to or not caring enough to get it perfect, possibly with very real pressure to work on more critical code or bug fixes. Maybe Rock Star Games has so many developers that there isn't a clear line of communications between every team. I feel like features are not getting properly communicated by the lower-level developers (physics, AI, etc.) to higher level developers like the people who enter data for the vehicles. I know that Rock Star's programming staff crosses the globe. The problem may even be as simple as some of their developers' lack of good English skills. Rock Star has large offshore team. It also sounds like they need QA people/testers with code access. At times programmers will throw code over the wall to QA/testing people who will come up with their own tests but those tests will be at a higher level without awareness of what's going on under the hood. Most programmers are really bad at testing their own work. This is something that sometimes requires decades in the industry to get good at, and sadly some programmers never become good at testing over their entire careers. This is the type of testing that you're doing. You don't have access to the source code, but it appears that you do have access to the XML files, which is close enough. You're devise tests based upon these input parameters and verifying expected behavior. Have you ever thought about joining a software company?
Thank you so much for anoither super informative fact finding mission, even if it's a few months old (I am currently inhaling the spreadsheet you linked in the description to find out what applies to the updates released since the video was made - wow offroad wheels on my Tyrus, that has to look funny ... love the idea). Also, for a relative noob trying to find nice race courses, would it be possible to name the race you are showing in the background in the video? Spent the last two days in your vast video lib on GTA V and I am truly amazed by everything. Please keep it up, this has become my favorite channel on GTA V. Happy New Year!
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it and I'm glad you're enjoying my stuff :) The race in the background is the Long variation of Blaine County 24h. All can be found here: bit.ly/BroughysTracks
Thanks for pointing that out! I had found the tracks and I really love them, especially the "long" variant has a wonderful flow to it that comes quite naturally, even in adverse weather. Oh, and in case you didn't try that - the Nordschleife ("North Loop") has spectacular views in the snow, it almost feels like a Swedish or Finnish Rallye stage. Thanks again!
So, any negative effects of offroad tires at all? Also, does suspension change the smoothness of bumps at all, and also how tall bumps you can drive over without "crashing into a wall"?
Great videos. But I have suggestion. What about fastest cars You can chose from races classes if custom vehicles are disabled? Would be nice to know which stock car is best in Online races, and how big are diffrences. For example fully tuned best Compact is Rhapsody, ye? But what about stocks, Rhapsody still best, or Blista/Issi take crown then? This would be hendy for ppl who play races, where custom vehicles are disabled. What ya' think?
Broughy can you find out if the option to have carbon roof, fenders, wheels actually improves the performance as carbon makes things lighter and I have asked this question about 6 times now
Okay, am I the only one amazed at how no one tried to hit you and spin you out when you were overtaking them? I always give faster cars space but no one does that when i'm overtaking .-.
Even though your crew knows how to race clean, the fact that lag exists still fucks you over more times than not, as evident in your videos too. All serious racing in GTAOnline should be done with: Non-contact, no catchup, and definitely no drag, i shouldn't need to explain that last one.
Actually: Off-Road wheels actually increase traction off-road on all vehicles, even if the car doesn't defaultly have the clipping synchronization with the ground. Low-Rider wheels also tend to subtly improve traction on soft roads on certain vehicles like the armoured kuruma. No other wheels have any effects on performance.
It doesn't, Broughy made a video testing the traction of cars with different tires, also offroad, and there was no increased traction. Watch this: /watch?v=eVaBBp3Ytb4 and go to 4:36
Cypha I've tested the armoured kuruma and lowrider tires noticeably improve the traction and lower the likelihood of the car rolling onto its hood, this is possibly due to an unspecified glitch. With any other tires, the kuruma looses a lot of road grip in comparison. Off-road tires on the Insurgent and Brawler have noticeable impacts on off-road performance. The mudguards and stock tires on the Shotaro slow the bike down significantly and I have tested this in straight line runs multiple times with no boost, catch up and slip stream off. Not all of the changes are specified in the code.
I can tell by how quickly you answered you didn't even watch the video. Watch the video, then come back and explain to me how it would be a wrong test, since you had different results.
Cypha I haven't watched the video you linked yet. I'm just saying, I spend most of my playtime testing vehicles and evaluating the performance differences across free mode, non contact circuit racing, regular circuit racing, non-contact stunt racing, regular stunt racing and both track and stunt point to point races. You can even try the lowrider tires on the Kuruma yourself, it receives a similar amount of traction to the boost provided by some spoilers on other vehicles.
Broughy, what makes an offroad tire offroad? I play on a RageMP server and there are tires with differently sized sidewalls but no indication of tire type whatsoever. Should I just eyeball the size of the sidewall and choose that way or
So the cars that have this can we really say that they gain from using off-road tyres? Doesn't it have a disadvantage with that and the off-road tyres just help it get back to normal or how should this be seen?
So offroads give those cars a smoother ride, but does that mean you get less of a kerbboost? Would it be better to have a lower profile tire in hopes of having a rougher and therefore more boostful drive?
I think that not every car has this option on, because it is not only matter of tire clipping into the ground, but also possibility of tire clipping into/out of the body of the car when the wheel goes up.
Broughy, do any of the new CS cars have the "Tires Can Clip" code? I know your busy and maybe haven't got around to updating this video. Thanks for all you do ...
For new cars check: GTA Vehicle Info Spreadsheet - broughy.com/gta5vehicleinfo ("Tyres Can Clip" info in "Key Vehicle Info" sheet, "Extra Attributes" section)

Thanks. So any of the cars that have the tyres clip should have off road for best affects?
Do custom tires affect off-road tires in any way? I notice the tread changes significantly but not sure if sidewall if affected.
Interesting, odd, and somewhat amusing that the Oppressor Mk2 has the "Tyres Can Clip" attribute.

+PeeCarNoo I'm still going to stick to off-road as it was the original seen as best type to use.
+PeeCarNoo Like I said, This is just how I feel from the tyres that are selected.
Read description for link to spreadsheet and info on updated vehicles
AWESOME
thank you!
Very informative, thank you for this!
The HVY Insurgent seems to be the only vehicle where tires can clip and there is no off-road traction loss.
Interesting observation!
damn your videos so great ii wiish i discovered your channel long time ago.
i now watching all the playlist and get my brain to overload lol
Broughy! In Spectre, Hinx uses a Broughy Orange Jaguar. You should sue them!
How much effort you put in your videos is astonishing, keep it up
The Elegy RH8 is marked as no tire clipping, but I am pretty sure I have experienced tire clipping with this car and tuner wheels. Anyone have any thoughts?
even so after so much use its become almost tradition to some.
i guess its more of a style thing for those that want their adder to have tires that look like can take a beating,
or paper thin tires to express their cars look( or obnoxiousness)
good to know. thanks for sharing this information to us, and those like my self who have been offline for quite along time.
hope you keep having a wonderful GTA ONLINE experience.
and wonderful days to come.
I haven't thought about that too much, but who knows what will happen in the future I guess XD Always interested to hear your insight.
In the sports class, and I use this car in races and do well, the armoured Kuruma will help it A LOT with off-road wheels
The fastest current super car the "Vagner" has the 5 digit as a 2 so it will benefit from off-road tires, hope this helps!
Ahhh, I was wondering about that car. I own one and I love it in races, so I'll test that out for sure. Thanks
Too bad Off-Road are ugly af
+DesoDoggGTA good thing I can remove them now from some of my cars.
DesoDoggGTA as they say it doesn't matter what u look like it's what counts in the inside that matters lol haha
11:18 "...having offroad tyres will make you much more consistent..." *Massacro flies off the track* ok then :l
Thanks again!
is all the info in this still relevant or have R* changed anything?
afaik concerning the wheel types, nothing has changed and the "tyres can clip" entries in the spreadsheet are accurate
MainesOwn great stuff, thanks for the info
Nice ! So I get to put the Shadows back on my Entity and on the Elegy :)
Yes! Now I have an excuse to run orange lowrider tires on my Bullet for Le Mans reenactments! (or... just for cruising...)
So, any negative effects of offroad tires at all? Also, does suspension change the smoothness of bumps at all, and also how tall bumps you can drive over without "crashing into a wall"?
I was meant to ask, is this why you're not having Off-Road tyres in MCEC Season 3?
Entity XF would be even more amazing if it had this ability
It's interesting that a lot of the Cunning Stunts cars have this as well.
Hi I'm wondering if you could tell me how you made that paint job on the zentorno
Broughy can you find out if the option to have carbon roof, fenders, wheels actually improves the performance as carbon makes things lighter and I have asked this question about 6 times now
+roy fernandes go find his video "mythbusting car upgrades" and you'll have your answer
There's nothing in the code for this so any difference you see in game would only be placebo. Do whatever you think looks good.
+roy fernandes There is no effect
Okay, am I the only one amazed at how no one tried to hit you and spin you out when you were overtaking them? I always give faster cars space but no one does that when i'm overtaking .-.
Thanks man, joined
Even though your crew knows how to race clean, the fact that lag exists still fucks you over more times than not, as evident in your videos too. All serious racing in GTAOnline should be done with: Non-contact, no catchup, and definitely no drag, i shouldn't need to explain that last one.
one of the tuner tires are wider than the others.....untill you add the custom tires....foes that make a difference?
No
***** oh ok
Do off road tires help the new Vagner or no? What’s the current best build?
Broughy, what about the sidewall of the new motorcycles wheels?
Does it change anything?
Wow u did a lot to make this video
phew i felt bad for coming in 6th in some tough races, but im happy seeing this guy in 8th makes me feel better
Could you do an updated video? I noticed that my 811 have more grip with off-road tyres and feels easiest to cornering, my friends think that too.
that's just placebo
Thank you for getting to the point
Thanks for the quick answer
Man thank you for the wisdom
Well time to make my cars good looking again. I'll just keep my Race Massacro with offroad tires.
IMO I can't imagine any other tire on my T20 that aren't the offroad tires.
The Elegy will get regular tires.
Actually:
Off-Road wheels actually increase traction off-road on all vehicles, even if the car doesn't defaultly have the clipping synchronization with the ground.
Low-Rider wheels also tend to subtly improve traction on soft roads on certain vehicles like the armoured kuruma.
No other wheels have any effects on performance.
It doesn't, Broughy made a video testing the traction of cars with different tires, also offroad, and there was no increased traction.
Watch this: /watch?v=eVaBBp3Ytb4 and go to 4:36
Cypha
I've tested the armoured kuruma and lowrider tires noticeably improve the traction and lower the likelihood of the car rolling onto its hood, this is possibly due to an unspecified glitch.
P.S on the phone. I can't click on the link.
Are there any more cars that have gained an effect with off-road tyres since then? Like the 811 or RE-7B?
See spreadsheet linked in description
Broughy, what makes an offroad tire offroad? I play on a RageMP server and there are tires with differently sized sidewalls but no indication of tire type whatsoever. Should I just eyeball the size of the sidewall and choose that way or
Was trying to tighten up the traction on my Vagner after selling my T20😢will off-road tires make a difference on the Vagner?
Video proof please? I can clip the tyre on every can at low speed, but that's not count, I would like to see this works at high speed.
Watch his off-road tires video that is referred in the video, he explains it pretty well there.
Does it has video footge about the Feltzer's tyre clip, and the Elegy's not? I'm not convinced the clipping is about the road, and not the car itself
I'm not sure, however the behavior of the affected cars is clearly visible. I suggest you check it out, it's fun!
So the cars that have this can we really say that they gain from using off-road tyres? Doesn't it have a disadvantage with that and the off-road tyres just help it get back to normal or how should this be seen?
So offroads give those cars a smoother ride, but does that mean you get less of a kerbboost? Would it be better to have a lower profile tire in hopes of having a rougher and therefore more boostful drive?
it probably has the same speed via kerb boosting but it wouldn't jump up a little
I'm so happy about this... now I don't need two of the same care just because one of them needs ugly off-roads. :)
I think that not every car has this option on, because it is not only matter of tire clipping into the ground, but also possibility of tire clipping into/out of the body of the car when the wheel goes up.
Sorry but is there any video or list where he explains if any of the cars released after this video contain this characteristic?
See the description
Thanks :)
Broughy, do any of the new CS cars have the "Tires Can Clip" code? I know your busy and maybe haven't got around to updating this video. Thanks for all you do ...
Perfect ... thank you very much!!
