      brorleon It's based on a realistic thing. It is by no means realistic. The boost of speed you get is ridiculous.

      If someone is using catchup and then slipstream on you it feels like you're driving a Volvo 550 and their driving an army jet..

      +Tristan Hoekstra I always turn it off if I am hosting, however if I do not have the power to do so, try to stay in a close second place and steal the win at the very end. I win almost every time I do that (occasionally it doesn't work though)

      Because youtube is flooded with annoying, squeeky, rubbish youtubers pumping out an endless plethora of nonsense content for the hordes of kids drawn to bright colours and flashing lights, who, unfortunately make up the majority of youtube viewers/subcribers. The better content producers like Broughy get overlooked sadly, on account of his videos having actual entertainment value along with useful and well presented information... Oh and a severe lack of hysterical fake laughing for no reason. OK, rant over. Nice video Broughy, ty dude.

    Ooh, a graph.
    I find it interesting too. Dominator was my first personal vehicle so in time I kinda had to think hard about wheelspin and mind the accelerator because that thing really makes it obvious how detrimental full throttle can be, and not even just for starts of races but some turns too.

    • @broughy1322

  • @TwistedMetal2011
    @TwistedMetal2011 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You have taught me so much about driving on GTA. I was already quite good as I already knew about wheel spin and the apex of turns, throttle control during turns, and smooth turning. Everything has gotten fine tuned and improved, and now I am even more skilled of a driver because of you. Also, I have found that some cars have two mid drive boosts that are usable one after the other, one as you shift into 2nd and another while shifting into 3rd. This double mid boost seems to be rare, very rare. I should lay off helicopters and start driving again to further test this.

    • @myfatassdick
      @myfatassdick 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is old and you probably don’t play gta anymore but what cars can you double mid drive speed boost with? When I try it it works the first time but then the second time it just stalls the car as if you missed a gear

    I was using throttle control in GTAIV, super boost since the first month of GTAV and handbrake+ throttle control and the downshift boost for freemode situations, yet i never knew the regular brake method was actually quicker that the handbrake. Even now i can still learn something new about racing. Good job with all this testing Broughy.

    For race starts with a timer, I use the super boost, but with throttle control during the count-down. I don't really know how it compares to the methods mentioned in this video, but if timer and actual race start are out of sync (which happens more often than not) and you miss the boost, this ensures that you don't end up in the red area of the graph - with wheelspin, the worst of all starts.

  • @jamiejones7751108
    @jamiejones7751108 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ahh that explains everything. I mean I've always used the 'super boost' without realising it was that much better. But the event start explains my bad starts. I've only ever had one amazing start where I passed 5 racers on the start. But yeah, thanks for the vid. Time to put it into practice.

Great video thought, I wonder if you can post a video about starting ethic so player don't have a pileup at the start of the race or in the first corner.

    Would you think rain would affect any of the regular starts?
    Would that change the GRAPHS up any?
    Also if I do understand that graph, the one with the flat line (no wheelspin), whichever car that would be would not be able to do a burnout? The only 'vehicle' that comes to mind when that graph is involved is the Lawnmower (can't do a burnout).
    I haven't heard of any SUV that can't do a burnout, but maybe I'm completely off here and the car with the flat line graph CAN do a burnout, idk.
    Sorry if my comment confused you lol

    • @broughy1322
      @broughy1322  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ishan826 Rain would shift everything to the left on all graphs, so wheelspin is achieved at lower levels of throttle application. Burnouts are a bit different since you purposefully lose grip first of all before doing it. I'm talking strictly about pulling away from the start line.

  • @agustinlado

    Is there any way to perform throttle control with a keyboard? I don't have a controller, so some combination of pressing and releasing keys is usually what lets me drive well, I wonder if it's possible.

      topgeartim I call it the downshift boost, because thats a more correct term as dropping down from 2nd to 1st isn't really a midway point in the transmission for most cars, all you are really doing is dropping a gear which somehow gives you an unrealistic boost in gta. Id say its similar to a kickdown, but at the same time, nothing like it.

    Broughy, I want you to test something, PeeCarNoo just uploaded a video about "How to land" and one of the AWD cars did something strange, it is the Entity, he landed the car on the rear axle which made it go faster than lading it on 4 wheels. He also tested it with the Osiris, now when this landed on its 4 wheels it went faster than landing on the rear, so does this prove that some cars have different load to their axle? For example the Osiris might have 50% to its front Axel and 50% to its rear, while the Entity might have 30% front and 70%

    loved the graphs! this might be a long-shot, but i saw recently that there's a mod/script that lets people use a racing wheel and pedals in GTA. I guess im not sure if it works for online... but have you considered trying a wheel? i currently use mouse and keyboard, and while i do have a controller, a wheel seems more fun.

      most mods need ScriptHook to work properly, and modding isn't allowed in Online nor on Project Homecoming, plus racing with a wheel in gta is just terrible

    Does more traction = more speed? I noticed that some spoilers give more traction.

      Skywarp Channel More traction = higher cornering speed when pushed to the limits. You always need a spoiler. See episode 6 of this series.

    How do you do throttle control on PC? On the keyboard, well, of course there is no such thing as holding a key down slightly without it using it all.
