    something about this ep that's bothered me is why mackay didn't also include a copy of his maths, program & the naquada generator specs for john as this ep sort of suggested a time loop with them needing to find a way to bring sheppard back in time & save teyla so all that stuff would've helped with that

    • @Bogdan221192
      @Bogdan221192 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Cause StarGate basically established that time is linear, and predetermined, as when SG-1 travelled back in time and met young Hammond, Old Hammond knew they will missjump and wrote a note to himself. Actually, after reading what i wrote, this particular episode in a video kind of ruins canon. Huh.

    • @oliverbergau4043
      @oliverbergau4043 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Bogdan221192 i think it kind of depends whether you travel forwards or backwards... In the episode you mentioned hammond wrote the note because he read the note, and this maybe happend in a couple loops, but i believe there was a "first time" in which there was no note... That time is changeable gets established when sg1 is present for the revolt against ra, or when they warn themself of the ashen, or when they find dr weir of the first atlantis expedition. So yes, this is a massive oversight on mckey's part, but i think he was too focussed on bringing shepard back to think about what else could help.

      @@Bogdan221192 Stargate established numerous times, that time-travel doesn't follow any rules. Most recently with Continuum, where a Ba'al clone traveled to the past, prevented the SGC from ever forming and then went on to kill his counter-part in the past to take his place - so the future where he would clone himself and build the time-machine wouldn't ever come to pass (even though he built the time-machine himself as well).
      And in Moebius, Daniel even suggested putting the ZPM in a tomb that was discovered before they even embarked on their time-heist in order for them to never go on that time-heist in the first place.
      So, in other words, the effect rendering it's own cause moot is not a problem.

    I always found this episode kind of soothing. Shepherd and McKay talking alone; but not like usual. It’s strange seeing two characters we both know, and who both know each other, but interacting in a completely new way. McKay’s much older, and a bit sad. While Shepherd is still the same. Idk. It’s somber, quiet. Very unlike most episodes of Stargate. I find myself watching it every few years.

    It just occurred to me: if you went in a stasis chamber you'd wanna close your eyes and have some kind of visor on because...light still penetrates the membrane so your eyes would be wide open and vulnerable to whatever beamed through and you couldn't blink. There should be warning signs on every chamber telling the occupant to do this.

      @@lewistrundell They must. If they don't, the chambers are death traps. Even dim visible light will be deadly after 40,000 years of exposure.
      If the chambers work by actually slowing/stopping time then it doesn't matter. Harm requires time to be inflicted, stopping time or slowing it dramatically would render the subject essentially invulnerable to pretty much everything. If it's just cryonic freezing, it would never preserve life all that long. If it's essentially magic, then don't worry, the plot device will keep you safe.

    • @Josh-oj9mm
      @Josh-oj9mm 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardkenan2891I don’t see why it can’t. The main problem with cryonics is freeze thawing. Water unlike most things, expands when frozen. So when you freeze a person, you’re basically exploding all their cells on a microscopic level. Ideally you need some substance that doesn’t expand when frozen (and doesn’t contract too much either so you don’t have the opposite problem) but is also completely biocompatible with the cells

      Vibes of Truth The exact point of the Big Bang is everywhere as the concept of a Big Bang is that all of space time expanded from it hence everything that is space and time is the center of the Universe. What STU showed was a signal that was artificial but predated the Big Bang, that would imply a Universe beyond what was created by the Big Bang, it's a multiple Universe theory that does not require alternate dimensions and Quantum realities and one where faster than light spaceships could theoretically travel from one Universe to another and that the other Universes may be from other Big Bangs. They most certainly was not trying to find the center of the Universe, they were trying to outpace the expansion of the Universe.

      Those Alteran stasis chambers were inside the walls. All of 'em. From before the pilot episode. And if I'm not wrong Atlantis is kinda a blasted ruin at this point.

    Completely inaccurate! McKay's Canadian.... he'd know who won the Stanley Cup!

    • @imofage3947
      @imofage3947 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No he wouldn't. He's a geek and a scientist. Moreover, he dedicated 25 years of his life to inventing a new branch of math to rescue his friend and alter the fates of everyone he knew. That's a level of dedication the borders on obsession. Huge bro move, but if he wasn't interested in sports or socializing with people before, no way is he going to keep up with the Stanley Cup through an all-consuming Herculean task like that.
      Source: Am Canadian geek that doesn't follow sports, including the Stanley Cup.

    Sheppard traveled forward in time not backwards in time please do your research before posting a scene you clearly know nothing about.
