My hair routine today: -Moroccanoil moisture shampoo -2nd wash with Matrix Blue (Anti-Brass for Brunettes) -K18 for 4 minutes -Moroccanoil moisture conditioner -out of the shower, Living Proof Triple Bond Repair -Redken Big Blowout for heat protection -Moroccanoil classic on my mids and ends post styling
So I tried following the coconut oil first on my hair then bonding products then hair mask followed by the color fanatic leave in no heat on my hair no growth hair looks terrible really thin and flat looking 😔
Can you please show alternatives that can also be purchased on the European market? Unfortunately, the product formulations are different here. I think many viewers would be happy
She's talked about L'Oreal bond repair being really great. I don't really think there is a good dupe for K-18 though, and I haven't really heard her talk about dupes for the Pureology spray
L'Oréals bond builder is literally the same, if not better than Redkens. I like the L'Oréals ingredients more. If you want Pureology color fanatic but can't access or afford it, there are two good products that are literally the same as Pureology color fanatic, but easier to access and cheaper: - Redken one united - Matrix miracle creator (pink bottle).. I love this one One conditioner that is very, very affordable that I can recommend is L'Oréal elvital/elvive shine conditioner (pink bottle). It makes my hair feel amazing!
Amika's sister brand eve ( pink packging ) something you can get from Sally's . Do Grow hair oil Don't use conditioner just shampoo and use leave in conditioner later . Conditioner only once or twice a week .
Same here. Tried a few other recommended brands but always return to Pureology leave in. I’ve not seen any breakage since I’ve incorporated Pureology leave in, heat protectant and OGX coconut oil since August. As for shampoo, I use Garnier Wholeblends honey line and my hair feels and looks amazing. I just recently colored my roots as they weee showing and I’ve yet to see color damage or drying with the leave in etc. I’m so happy I’m going to be growing my hair long and healthy without compromising color 🎉
I can definitely say I’m one of those people who says their hair “stops growing” because it literally does. I’ve been trying different bottles of stuff, so I’m seeing what’s working for me. Tbh what I’m using now works pretty well for my hair (I use Maui)
I have fine hair and have gone through various phases of losing my hair due to hashimostos and a couple of things that have helped me is to not heat style my hair a lot and to comb versus brush my hair to avoid breakage. I’ve also gone for several prp treatments with a dermatologist to help regrow my hair, but they are expensive, painful and not accessible/affordable for everyone.
Do you have any suggestions for people who are losing their hair around their hairline I am 42 years old and I am noticing thinning a lot around my hairline and I am trying to figure out what to do to get that hair to regrow. Thank you.
I use rosemary spray and jojoba oil for hair growth, seperately. I get a couple of rosemary sprigs from the grocery store (like 2 bucks for a package) and put them in a crockpit with an inch of water. I cook it on low for four hours, let it cool, strain out the sprigs and I'm left with purpleish-brown water. I put that in a spray bottle and spray it on my scalp every 2 or 3 days. You could do it more often but my scalp is sensitive. For the jojoba oil, once or twice a week I just dropper it onto my scalp, massage it in, comb it through, let it set for at least an hour, and then double wash it out in the shower. My hair has been growing in like crazy since doing this consistently, maybe it could help you, too.
I’d love to know your curly girl recommendations for those of us with more texture that don’t tolerate certain ingredients that are often in formulations for straight hair
Imma be honest as a cosmetologist myself with curls who’s been working w a lot of my curl specialist friends- I don’t take her recommendations. The thing with studies is that it’s not often with a racially diverse subjects. It’s similar to the way things like autism are missed in BIPOC and women, it’s because it was studied on white men. Studies aren’t nearly as watertight as we have been led to believe. If I’m remembering right John Oliver did an excellent video on scientific studies and the pitfalls they may have due to human biases
The Amika Kure line works well and I think Amika is overall advertised to a more diverse demographic. I don’t think curl pattern really changes the basic “needs” of hair. Obviously texture will make a difference in what is too heavy or doesn’t provide enough slip but the ingredients are still the same just a different balance. I personally really like the Pureology recommendations too but if you were really into the curly girl thing Amika is probably your best bet. The mask is really nice and thick. 🙂
Hi love ❤ your videos but had a quick question the amika dry hair shampoo has alcohol in it and my friend said thats bad for your hair because it dries it out ? I value your opinion and was wondering your thoughts about this . Thank you in advance.
In the 1970s (especially early 1970s), everyone used cheap shampoo, often no conditioner. Often no hair drying. Suave or basic stuff was common. Look at the pics from then. Very nice 😁
Abbey can you also recommend products for hair growth that are more affordable ? Thank you so much 🥰 I looked into the mentioned products and they are quite expensive ..
She's talked about L'Oreal bond repair being really great. I don't really think there is a good dupe for K-18 though, and I haven't really heard her talk about dupes for the Pureology spray
we don’t get these products in PR like she does!! who’s going to buy k-18 for $75 😂sorry not sorry!! inflation keeps most of us on drugstore $ and i’m perfect ok with that!! facts!!
I have the matrix miracle creator spray that's literally a cheaper version of Pureology color fanatic. It makes my hair feel awesome! Amodimethicone deserves more praise. Redken one united is also a "dupe" for the Pureology color fanatic spray.
Stop heat styling everyday and that will help with breakage and allow your hair to grow, without having to spend lots of $$$. Also, not getting trims every time you go to the hairdresser will help. If you lighten your hair, I would use a protein binding treatment (olaplex, Brazilian bond etc.) 2-4 times a month depending on your hair texture and damage.
I currently use the Sap Moss line from Aveda. I tried to switch to Olaplex but it destroyed my hair. Breakage that will take me a decade to recover from , as my hair is already over 3ft long as well as fine and thin. I was devastated. Now I am so afraid to try new things. What can I do to speed up that regrowth without risking the hair I have left?
I use Tweak Shampoo and Conditioning! It’s really nice to give my long hair volume and bounce 😊! $59.95 the set 33.1 ounces each bottle. Conditioner’s are thicker 👍🙏
Redken, purology are amazing! Having try k18 yet but use olaplex 3 instead. I try a couple of Amina styling products not a fan, I won’t invest in this line because of that.
None of those are going to actually create hair where there is none or provide length. There are other issues at play if you have thinning hair/bald spots or your hair won’t get past a certain length.
I think it depends on exactly what is causing your hair to "not grow" or get past a certain length. If you are balding, losing hair for what seems to be no reason, than yes these products won't work, and it's best to see a doctor for a diagnosis to figure out why. However, if you have a lot of bleach damage, or really any bad hair damage in general, that's making your hair literally BREAK off, then that's when products like these can be helpful. Some people's hair is literally so damaged and so much of it breaks off that they can't get it to grow past a certain length. I wish she had specified more of what she was talking about, but yeah, this advice mainly applies to damage.
Dandruff shampoo ruined my hair. The sides of my hair broke off completely. That was a year ago, I’ve since stopped the dandruff shampoo and treated my hair with a weekly mask and an oil pre wash and they have grown back! My hair grows slow, so they’re about 3 inches long, looks like short bangs but they have grown back!
Hi Abbey! New viewer her, I've been watching your shorts which are great but I noticed a good portion of the products are not cruelty free which i believe people are trying to get away from. Sorry, I'm not trying to sound preachy, but seeing some more cruelty free options would be super helpful! I really love this video, especially because Amika and Pureology are cruelty free so maybe that's a direction you're heading in any way! Looking forward to more of your videos 😊
Best way to stop breakage is to STOP USING ELASTIC BANDS!!! The other thing is I only buy products made in Italy. If you can find them? Best shampoo and conditioners!!!!
If you are going to buy one product buy the pureology leave in conditioner or K18. I know K18 is expensive but I use one pump on hair that is a bit past shoulder length once every two weeks or so and it has lasted awhile.
I just cannot bring myself to try any “bonding” products after my horrible experience with Olaplex. I feel they have the opposite effect for some and I’m one of them. Please be careful with these product and pay attention to any changes in your hair texture, shedding, and/or breakage. I do use the Pureology leave in and I LOVE IT.
The L’Oréal bond repair line caused me to go half as bald. The tried the other L’Oréal shampoo line and same results, lost lots of hair. Went back to Garnier wholeblends honey repair line and my hair is at its best. YES love the Pureology leave in. One of the best leave ins out there
I hated Olaplex too and was very scared to use other things but I tried Epres and it makes my hair feel very thick if you can call it that 😅 It feels like I have more hair. And very soft too. Also the Living proof one feels nice but I´m not sure what the difference is in my hair.
@@savithrivenugopal wow I am so sorry! I have bought the loreal bond repair line twice, never used it and returned them because I was terrified. I don’t trust any of it for now…
I know Abby approves and recommends drugstore products, but I’d like to know which ones she uses on the daily? Like I know she recommends L’Oréal ever pure shampoo but she personally uses Pureology. We know drugstore products are good enough but not ✨ the best ✨ so which ones would she prefer over the high end products? I wonder!
When I stopped doing things to my hair is when it started growing. It's now down to my butt and it's poker straight naturally and I cut an inch off every couple of months maybe and it's just beautiful and long. And I have very fine hair that splits easily.. when I wash it, on day three it gets oily and then on day four or five it stops being oily and it's absolutely great.. INDEFINITELY.. I even use argan oil on the bottom half from time to time..
May I ask for a review on the Target and Sephora version of Function of beauty and Function of beauty pro (bon repair) ? The reviews are all or nothing, need a real objective review!
So I've tried all of these products and they worked great but the second I damaged my hair with lightning it doesn't matter what product I use my hair feels like straw. At some point you do just need to cut and work with the healthy strands
Hey @AbbeyYung. Is it ok to use shampoo that has silicone but doesn’t have sulfate and conditioner that has silicone once a week? And can u please explain why some shampoo has silicone but not sulfate and conditioner that has silicone. How does it work? I use high end hair products 😊
Hiya ca you help me please I love watching your videos my hair is medium but is frizzy and gets big in humid even if it’s raining and cold and I want my hair to be sleek straight and smooth and with volume please help
I’m running out of my big reskin shampoo and don’t know if I should get the protein based shampoo, bond repair (citric acid), or just stick with the one for moisturizing. I have really fine thin hair and it comes down to my butt, I cut it myself but tend to get split ends pretty consistently. Could someone give me advice on this? Buying shampoo once a year saves me money but I’m so afraid to try out one of these new shampoos so will probably just stuck with the tried and true, since I’ll be using this 4x a week and am a bit afraid to add that much citric acid or protein onto my hair. Thanks!!
A Shampoo just washes your hair, there is no way for it to "repair" it since it is on for such a short length of time. Repair should be done with a specific repair treatment but as you have fine thin hair be very cautious and careful as my hair is fine and hates bonding products.
Why is there never any distinction between “not growing” and “my hair breaks off so I never get any length” You’re talking about breakage, not hair growth - but framing it helping hair “grow” I don’t get it
Her hair is not "not growing"- her hair is breaking at the ends preventing length.
truth
That’s not always the case. With some people it has to do with their anogen phase.
We know
Doesn’t growth occur at roots anyway, not the ends?
I would LOVE a full-length video on these products to go into more detail about them and how they work.❤

A Shampoo just washes your hair, there is no way for it to "repair" it since it is on for such a short length of time. Repair should be done with a specific repair treatment but as you have fine thin hair be very cautious and careful as my hair is fine and hates bonding products.

I can barely afford groceries. Theses are too expensive
I love you Abbey
Why is there never any distinction between “not growing” and “my hair breaks off so I never get any length”
You’re talking about breakage, not hair growth - but framing it helping hair “grow”
I don’t get it
