Society was so cruel to him when he was going through cancer. Something so difficult, personal and trying. Just to have the world belittling him for his weight, not being in the public eye and not sharing his private struggles. I’m glad he is better

Agree....they can't understand how difficult it is when your given a devastating cancer diagnosis. Even more so if your a prominent actor like Val Kilmer..Hollywood is merciless until it happens to them or a loved one. I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in May of 2011 and given on months to live. I went thru the treatments and went into remission in November 2011 and I have never looked back...It brought me to Christ as well in 2014. I am eternally 🙏 🙌✝️ grateful!
Throat cancer is the worst. Affects your ability to talk, eat, and even breathe. Especially for an actor that's just devastating. Very sorry he had to go through that.
My dad went through the same thing in 2000. He never adjusted to losing his voice and became a recluse. Glad to see Val living his life and enjoying his work again.
My granddaughter was diagnosed with throat cancer at the young age of 8 yrs old she is 15 doing great but the 2 things she loved doing most in her young life was singing and swimming she had a beautiful voice she won the talent show at her school only a few weeks before she lost her beautiful voice do the surgery she had to have
Val Kilmer is the reason I love Tombstone so much. His one liners, and his portrayal of Doc Holliday - just superb. And it's pitiful, almost unbelievable, that the Academy didn't nominate him for best supporting actor. In my heart, he won it. Also, really happy Tom Cruise wouldn't do Top Gun Maverick without Val as Iceman. :)
My impression of Val off screen is a good dude. He looked out for my sister for many years. She was in LA alone and he found her at the Apple store and stole her away.. She was his assistant for a good long while.. she never said one bad thing about him to me. And Im glad he was there to look out for her and not take advantage of a young girl like that.

I saw top gun Maverick yesterday. And seeing Val Kilmer as he is now whether you like him or not makes you sad. His part in the movie was small but extremely significant in what I thought was a great movie.
Yep, I think the way that Top Gun Maverick had him in such a key role in the story really showed that the hearts of the people who made that film were in the right place.
I just saw the movie myself, seeing Val in it, and knowing his struggle. I got a bit teary eyed watching that scene. Loved the movie BTW. So glad they included him in it.
I especially liked how they incorporated him fighting his throat cancer in the movie and that he was getting treatment still while filming the movie,he is so awesome

They do not like him because he is a Christian Scientist; that means he rejects all medical treatment and tells others to as well. He got treatment for hist throat cancer because his children who are not Christian scientists begged him to.
Val kilmer has always been an awesome actor.he is handsome also.I am very sorry that he had throat cancer and lost his voice.he sure has been through a lot.I saw his documentary val on prime video several times.he is so down to earth caring and funny.very talented also..he lost his younger brother Wesley in 1977 in a tragic accident in a pool.very sad.I love how his 2 children are very close with their dad.it is hard to hear about the unfair rotten negativity that he has been subjected to.I wish him and his family all the best and lots of happiness..

But in this day and age I can't believe people aren't aware of Gershon or Chris Beats Cancer, therapies that don't poison and burn but address the cause and change the lifestyle. Not many survive chemo. They either die, are either permanently scarred, or it keeps coming back after spreading to the marrow, bones or liver. I feel sorry for him.
I loved Val Kilmer. His acting was always so real. He made you feel like you were there experiencing the role he was playing. So he was a little hard to work with, actors like him don't come along very often. I was so sorry to hear about his cancer. I am glad that he is healing, even if it takes some time. His autobiography was so eye opening. I don't think I can name just one film of his that I didn't like. Every one is so different from another. The mark of a true craftsman.
So... he made enemies for having high standards? No one bothered to mention why people hated working with him or whether it was for valid reasons or not. If his refusal to compromise his standards was taken as him challenging the authority of his superiors, then maybe it's the control obsessed superiors that were the difficult ones? This just leaves me with more questions than I had before it.
A director is in charge for a reason. I'm sure every actor on set thinks they know better and would like to do everything their own way. When the director allows that you end up with chaos. If he wants everything his own way do what Tom Cruis did, create your own projects and be a part of every decision. Don't just come on set demanding everyone else dances to your tune including the other actors. What makes you think he knew better than all the other people working on the project? If so where his his directorial breakthroughs?
You work with people every day, doing everyday jobs, there are hundreds of people on set, many are paid peanuts. Most actors or actresses don't act like dicks, but the ones who do, will get singled out. Most people on set don't get paid enough for that shit. Val Kilmer was a dick.

He nailed Holiday. Every time I watch that movie, I see yet, another nuance, and believe me, I already know most of the dialogue. While everyone else were superb, it was his film. Sad for him that he had to go through his battle with cancer pretty much alone. To his critics: just enjoy his movies, you can't possibly know what demons he has encountered.
His suffering is terrible, but I imagine it's even harder on him because of the public eye being on him and discecting his public image. That had to create tremendous personal turmoil for him. I hadn't followed him too closely,, I don't follow any celebrity really, but I did notice his disappearance in recent years. I can only wish him well and pray for the best for him and his children.
Like yourself, I don't follow any "celebs" or actors or anyone because I have my own life to live and don't drool over what other's HAVE ... This guy would have done ANYTHING to beat Tom Cruise to the top of Hollywood - and he would have made it if he hadn't been so BAD at core trying to stop others success instead of working on his OWN success - The Kilmer story is a sad one, but it's what he brought upon himself, nothing else. Sadly, there is no such thing as "complete remission" after you've had chemotherapy and radiation. It spreads the cancer cells and burns your insides. Even oncologists say they would never recommend chemo to a loved one, yet they do it to patients all the time. I can't believe not one single person he knew suggested Gershon or Chris Beats Cancer therapies to him that actually address the cause, change the lifestyle and heal instead of poison and burn.
He most certainly has had plastic surgery, as it's quite obvious. I feel bad about his laryngeal cancer...it's a tough one to go through, but he's alive!

Unfortunately I don't call just being alive "beating" cancer. He has a permanent hole in his throat, can't ever use his voice again, and has said that the cancer treatment was the cause of his suffering, not the cancer. He also said his throat is permanently dry. I think it'd be a horrific way to live.

As a Christian Scientist, Kilmer also is not afraid to die, as he believes in a joyous afterlife. Those suffering are the VICTIM in the situation, not those who might be left behind. People so afraid of death think you only live once. We're not put here to suffer but learn and move on.

I am a survivor of stage4 throat cancer treatment is indescribable. Thank God I’m alive and i can still talk however, 5 years out its still difficult to swallow and depending on the day i wont eat in public. Its really a humbling experience and will bring the most egotistical individual down to earth. 🙏
I see nothing tragic about Val Kilmer's life. We all have had tragic things happen in our lives, parents die, siblings eventually die, friends die. But this video makes it sound like Val Kilmer's life was one big tragedy after another. I respectfully disagree. As long as he's alive, it's still good for him.
Sadly there's not much quality of life after getting several rounds of chemotherapy in addition to radiation. He survived the poison and burning, but it's only in remission. I feel sorry for him that he didn't seek other treatment that heals by addressing the cause and changing the lifestyle, diet, toxicity etc.
I agree and the ‘feel sorry for me’ video was just squeezing the bucks out further and worked as planned because it added more fans who probably didn’t think he was all that good before. Loved Val Kilmer in “Real Genius” and in “Tombstone” … I also liked him in the “Doors” because he did most or all of his own singings and “The Saint” and “Willow”!!!! Prayers to Him! He has had a difficult Life filled with many obstacles!!!!
I'm glad that Val kilmer was able to defeat cancer but it did a number on him unfortunately it was such a downer seeing that Val was talking with a microphone in his throat just like jack klugman was doing in his final years, tombstone was one of the best westerns ever and Val kilmer was the best doc Holliday ever and thunderheart was a great movie and was a true story

Sorry to burst everyone's fantasy, but according to a tonne of people, working with Kilmer on set was a palpably unpleasant experience. He went out of his way to humiliate, demean and waste the time of his co-workers. Mostly he talked about himself and how he was the biggest star on earth and you were an insect. A friend of mine once saw another actor try to introduce himself on set before a scene together during the shooting of The Island Of Dr Moreau in Queensland, Australia in 1994. Kilmer scoffed at his outstretched hand, and said "Listen shit stain, I want you to know if it ever comes down to you or me, it's gonna be me. I'm the man." Really..? i assure you, ask anyone who actually worked with the man what he was like and you'll hear a multitude of similar stories. I'm sorry he got sick. But lots of people get sick. Fame is no excuse to refuse to treat people with respect and dignity. Films are made by the hard work of hundreds of people on screen and off. There's no excuse for acting iike a pretentious brat in a workplace.

my first introduction to Val was Willow as a kid. I thought he was such a cool warrior. Knowing that him an the princess of that actually got together an had kids pleases me very much cause you could see the chemistry they had.
I loved seeing him in Top Gun Maverick. I’m so glad they put him in the movie. They did it brilliantly. It’s sad what happened to him, but he’s still alive and can still give love to those close to him.

His Ex-Wife exceptionally Gorgeous, & Very Talented as well. IT is very Tragic, what has come of this Man's Life. But it isn't over Yet? How sad to not have a lover at your side when struggling with something so terrible but at least he has his kids. He may find someone down the line but who knows. I'm sad he lost his voice but at least he's alive. Also I wish there was a different way the medical field can make voices sound when lost instead of the robot thing.

I loved Val Kilmer. His acting was always so real. He made you feel like you were there experiencing the role he was playing. So he was a little hard to work with, actors like him don't come along very often. I was so sorry to hear about his cancer. I am glad that he is healing, even if it takes some time. His autobiography was so eye opening. I don't think I can name just one film of his that I didn't like. Every one is so different from another. The mark of a true craftsman.

So... he made enemies for having high standards? No one bothered to mention why people hated working with him or whether it was for valid reasons or not. If his refusal to compromise his standards was taken as him challenging the authority of his superiors, then maybe it's the control obsessed superiors that were the difficult ones? Actor in "top secret", the best comedy's movie I've ever seen!
He nailed Holiday. Every time I watch that movie, I see yet, another nuance, and believe me, I already know most of the dialogue. While everyone else were superb, it was his film. Sad for him that he had to go through his battle with cancer pretty much alone. To his critics: just enjoy his movies, you can't possibly know what demons he has encountered.
We just watched Tombstone last night and flr me he is the highlight of the entire movie.

His suffering is terrible, but I imagine it's even harder on him because of the public eye being on him and discecting his public image. That had to create tremendous personal turmoil for him. I hadn't followed him too closely,, I don't follow any celebrity really, but I did notice his disappearance in recent years. I can only wish him well and pray for the best for him and his children.

Sadly, there is no such thing as "complete remission" after you've had chemotherapy and radiation. It spreads the cancer cells and burns your insides. Even oncologists say they would never recommend chemo to a loved one, yet they do it to patients all the time. I can't believe not one single person he knew suggested Gershon or Chris Beats Cancer therapies to him that actually address the cause, change the lifestyle and heal instead of poison and burn.

Unfortunately I don't call just being alive "beating" cancer. He has a permanent hole in his throat, can't ever use his voice again, and has said that the cancer treatment was the cause of his suffering, not the cancer. He also said his throat is permanently dry. I think it'd be a horrific way to live.

I am a survivor of stage4 throat cancer treatment is indescribable. Thank God I’m alive and i can still talk however, 5 years out its still difficult to swallow and depending on the day i wont eat in public. Its really a humbling experience and will bring the most egotistical individual down to earth. 🙏

I see nothing tragic about Val Kilmer's life. We all have had tragic things happen in our lives, parents die, siblings eventually die, friends die. But this video makes it sound like Val Kilmer's life was one big tragedy after another. I respectfully disagree. As long as he's alive, it's still good for him.
Sadly there's not much quality of life after getting several rounds of chemotherapy in addition to radiation. He survived the poison and burning, but it's only in remission. I feel sorry for him that he didn't seek other treatment that heals by addressing the cause and changing the lifestyle, diet, toxicity etc.

He went out of his way to humiliate, demean and waste the time of his co-workers. Mostly he talked about himself and how he was the biggest star on earth and you were an insect. A friend of mine once saw another actor try to introduce himself on set before a scene together during the shooting of The Island Of Dr Moreau in Queensland, Australia in 1994. Kilmer scoffed at his outstretched hand, and said "Listen shit stain, I want you to know if it ever comes down to you or me, it's gonna be me. I'm the man." Really..?
i assure you, ask anyone who actually worked with the man what he was like and you'll hear a multitude of similar stories. I'm sorry he got sick. But lots of people get sick. Fame is no excuse to refuse to treat people with respect and dignity. Films are made by the hard work of hundreds of people on screen and off. Yes but don’t you think that blowing off a shot at a hamburger commercial because he didn’t believe in burgers is totally stupid not to mention a poor decision in his occupational progress. I’m sure there is one person out there great full to him for that.

How sad to not have a lover at your side when struggling with something so terrible but at least he has his kids. He may find someone down the line but who knows. I'm sad he lost his voice but at least he's alive. Also I wish there was a different way the medical field can make voices sound when lost instead of the robot thing.
What you are hearing is his actual voice. It's all he has left.

I find it sad that most people have had NO CLUE what has happened to Val Kilmer until this new Top Gun: Maverick movie. He has not been hiding. He has plenty of videos here on TH-cam.
He is still the exact same Iceman to me. No one could've played him but him.
Val Kilmer is one of my favorite all-time actors and that really bugs me that that he had to quit acting because of his cancer. I think they oughta make some roles for actors who have got disabilities now. He will always be one of my favorites. If I was asked who I wanted meet it would be him

I loved Val as Jim Morrison. That was before my time,but I love Jim and The Doors. Val played him so well. Will always be one of my favorite movies. Had no idea he was hard to work with. So sad what happened to him. Great video,Blessed Be.
