I thought Jenny died of aids. Hep C makes sense too.
I find it hard to believe these actors really turned the offers for roles. I mean the director is Robert Zsumakis , like hello Chevy etc did you quit acting already? I just found it tough to believe.

Sorry but as someone who worked for a decade in the medical field, the Hepatitis C virus takes about 20 years for significant damage to be done to the liver in someone who has contracted it. I would be willing to wager that in the original script, Jenny died from AIDS, but activists were upset that it would further stigmatize those who were infected with the HIV virus as being drug abusers or promiscuous. So when the movie was released, I believe they purposefully chose to leave it vague. Then years later, they concocted the Hepatitis C lie to appease activists. You may agree or disagree, but it's not a far fetched theory at all.

Hep C was a routine diagnosis back then, AIDS was not. Jenny even says that the doctors couldn't identify her illness. Makes sense to me that she died from complications due to AIDS.

When I had it in the mid '60s it was just called Jaundice. You eventually turn yellow because the liver is dysfunctioning and the skin stores massive amounts of billiruben. There is no mistaking jaundice (Hep-C).
@@jamesforbes2871 hep b also causes jaundice, babies can be born with jaundice. I just went through 8 weeks of treatment for Hep C I think I know what I'm talking about. Do some research on Hepatitis C and then research jaundice. Then get back to me.
I think another cool fact about this movie was how Gary Sinise was so inspired by his own role that he became an advocate for Veterans, especially Disabled ones. I wish more actors were like that- they were so inspired by their roles that they would actually do their best to help the people that had to deal with the issues their chars faced. I come from a Military family so seeing what Gary does means a lot to me.

I grew up wanting to join and serve a career commitment. (Don't Ask Don't Tell changed those plans but that's not the point here)

It's sad that every time Forrest told Jenny he loved her she responded " Forrest, you don't know what love is". Not realizing that SHE was the one who didn't know what love is. Even though Forrest had been showing her the meaning of love their whole life. And it took her having a child of her own to finally realize what Forrest had been showing her all along. Really sad life Jenny had.

How did I, and everyone I know who saw it, know that Jenny died of AIDS, but those involved in the production somehow didn’t? The audience knew from the script and context.

The video is wrong. Eric Roth, the screenwriter confirmed officially in 2019 that Jenny’s death was HIV/AIDS related.
Jenny was always "of the moment". Her visual style, her friends, her activism, her drugs... she was always living at the crest of the social waves. Forrest was timeless and never touched by those trends. He might have coincided with every social storm, but he was always in the eye of the hurricane. Emotionally, Jenny was the one who kept running, and eventually it all catches up. So as a character outcome, it makes sense that Jenny died from AIDS because that was the moment.
Underrated comment
I always thought then and now that she died of AIDS, given her lifestyle and the storyline always referring to primary historical problems of the time period. Wasn’t too difficult to figure out, especially given the time frame. It sure as hell wasn’t a “cough due to cold”….😳😂
I figured it was AIDS also. I would think if she was supposedly died from Hep C, they would have given her a yellow tone to her skin since Hep C damages the liver.

Being in the medical field, hepatitis would not be possible for her death. It would have to be AIDS, but if they meant to insinuate that then they did a poor job of their investigation into hepatitis.
It was definitely the GRIDS that got her.

I remember Jenny telling Forrest that she was sick. That it was a virus but the doctor's didn't really know what it was. This played into the AIDS theory (and still does) because in the early days of the AIDS epidemic, doctors didn't understand the virus all that well. I think they wouldn't have been confused by hepatitis.
When Jenny died they were still unaware that AIDS was caused by HIV.

@@djikopgot when hep c showed up they did not understand hat it was....they didn't call it hep x they called it non a non b or serum hep....it came from the blood they were getting from the prison system during the Vietnam war era....i got it through sharing needles in about 1986....had it for 25 years before finally the treatment worked for me, but i think in the end the damage from 25 years will probable catch up to me.....i remember in 1991 when i learned i had it...they explained they could not actually see the virus but could detect it by what was going on around it....
She died from aids. Not sure where the hepatitis comes from. The writer and director have come out saying it was aids. There was even a sequel plotted out where Forest's son has aids.
In the book she talks about this really bad virus that kills most people that get it,but not everyone,and the doctors can't cure it. This was in the early to mid 80s,they new all about hepatitis by then. She died of AIDS,

There wasn't even a test to identify Hepatitis C until 1989. They didn't know much of anything about it in 1982. And Hep C actually makes more sense as it is much less common to be contracted by a fetus while pregnant, and is also much less likely to be spread via sex, whic would make sense as to why neither Forrest or their son contracted it from her. Also, she says in the movie that her liver is affected. I've always believed it was Hepatitis C as this made the most sense with the timeline and what she says is wrong with her. Not to mention, IV drug use was the #1 risk factor for getting Hep C for a long time in this country, possibly still is. She died a little faster than most do with Hep C, but some people progress thru the disease faster than others, and there was no treatment for it back then so it likely did lead to death faster than it did once we developed treatments.

Jenny died of AIDS. That was the point, the modern world & its tragedy catching up with them... Jenny being promiscuous & /or victimized by the abuses she went through, and her innocence being lost, the gritty realities of her painful life touching his purity - but Forest still seeing her as precious & sacred.
When this movie was out, we all knew that. It was very artfully & poignantly (perfectly) implied, yet very clear (and fitting).

Gary Sinise played Lieutenant Dan Taylor so well. Now he runs the Gary Sinise Foundation who helps veterans. He’s definitely a respectable man.
She died from AIDS due to the Intervenous drug use as well as sleeping around. If it was Hep C they would’ve said it back then.
Which means Forrest probably died from AIDS shortly thereafter. Real bummer of an ending.
AIDS was discovered in the us in 81, she would have been diagnosed with AIDS by the time of her death.
in 1984 they knew that HIV caused AIDS.
They did not know what Hep C was until 1989. She died in 82.
I always figured it was AIDS, that's what all the clues in the movie point to. Her various drug use and sexual encounters, and the fact that she said the doctors didn't know what it was.
Hep c can be contracted the same way and Winston Groom (the author of the novel which this movie is based on) also confirmed Jenny had Hepatitis C
Don’t buy it. She died of HIV and that was the original intention even if the director changed his mind. She tells Forrest on the bench at the park. Plus many films give homage to an actor’s prior role as in the case of Hanks. He played a gay attorney that died from aids in which he received an Oscar. That parallel always helps around award season when films are up for nomination.

My own interpretation was that Jenny died of AIDS - entirely period-appropriate and in line with her brief description of what happened. The claims of Hep C are just a cop-out.
AIDS, we all know it was AIDS or some type of HIV. They couldn't get into if it transferred to the baby (not Forests baby), but ok
@@angeliquef9118 Depends when and how she caught it. One very plausible scenario is that she got an infected blood transfusion after giving birth.
Why is it a cop out? It wouldn't have hurt the movie or him professionally or personally if he had let everyone go on thinking she died of aids. But he admits its about hep c. So.? Who cares.

@@7thsealord888 - Jenny was an IV drug user. I'm certain everyone who saw the movie at that time interpreted her having died of AIDS, including myself. I haven't seen the movie in years, but I thought AIDS had been specifically mentioned outright. But in reading another post, it wasn't. What was mentioned is a "mysterious illness doctors had a hard time treating." I'm pretty sure we all were supposed to interpret that as AIDS not Hep c.
As a high school and college student in the late 80s and 90s, it was drilled into us that sharing needles and unprotected sex could lead to HIV. I don't recall as much info about Hep C as being emphasized until much later. So I doubt the writers had it in mind as the cause of death.
While everyone of those actors are legendary that could’ve played Forest and Bubba , they got the right ones that made the movie perfect to the end of time !

Usually, when I see comments saying "I couldn't imagine another actor/actress playing that role" I think it's silly. Of course you think the actor who did was perfect, because that's the performance that you saw and that defines the character in your mind. However, this time, it's me who dreads to think what the other actors might have done with such an iconic character. Love Bill, but that was not the right part for him to play. Shudder to think what Chevy would have done with it. Travolta....possibly, although this was pre-Pulp Fiction so I'm not sure if he was ready for it. Hanks was the only choice.

One actor that possibly could have been great was Michael Keaton. The roles he played in "Multiplicity"convinced me that Forrest Gump was a character he could have portrayed convincingly.
The scene that stuck with me was Jenny swaying up on the hotel balcony rail try to get up the nerve to throw herself off. She was drug addicted desperate sad and alone…she also carried the emotional burden of shame for what happened to her in her childhood. It’s always stuck with me.

I new a girl who was just like Jenny, except her Mother and her escaped her Father. But the sexual abuse was so hard for her to get through. She married a wonderful man and had 4 daughters only to all lose the whole family in a house fire . She was only 27yrs old . I'm 83yrs old now but I still miss her

I've been an ER doctor for 25 years. Jenny's Hep C diagnosis doesn't sit right with me. I always thought it was complications of HIV/ AIDS which was so topical in the early 90s and made far more sense too. I think they're trying to change the narrative. That aside,
I love this film so much. I'm from the UK and went backpacking round the States in the mid 90s as a 19y old student sleeping on Amtrak trains in the US (these were the good old days of free tuition where you could save enough money to travel by doing part time jobs). I visited the Square where Forest sat on his bench in Savannah and lots of the other famous sites from the film. It is such a brilliant film and soundtrack. Bittersweet and perfectly cast. The lifelong effects of Jenny's childhood trauma were so well depicted. She was a wonderful character. It's so painful to watch her journey, especially now as a mum.

If Jenny's tortured life illustrated anything, it's that no amount of love will make you whole if you're not right with yourself.
Jenny's character just fills me with repulsion. Sure Forest was happy when she came back but for the most was a horrible person. Saying that I do understand the character and it does hot close to home. Jenny probably has very strong bouts of remembering as a result she runs and runs only realizing the impact of her actions at the end. I get emotional everytime I see this wonderful film.

Dylan slays loved her in SVU and Vampire Diaries
From another article - Tom Hanks' younger brother, Jim Hanks, doubled for him in many of his numerous running sequences. According to Jim, "Tom had other doubles but they couldn't do the run", referring to Forrest's geeky stiff stride "that's a stupid Hanks thing" - I doubt Tom did his own running scene while he had the flu. Calling BS on that one.
I think they nailed it with the cast. As good as the other actors are, I don't think Forest Gump would have been as successful had they been casted. Even right down to the lady that played the bus driver, or the people sitting on the bench with Forest were well thought out.
Thanks to Hanks, Fields, Sinise and the rest of the amazing cast actors, Forest Gump has become a timeless classic.

Hep C or Aids ? How can the producer know that. This movie is based on a book written by Winston Groom. The screenplay was written by Eric Roth. Both Roth and Groom says it was Aids but it is only implied in the movie.
and I always thought it was aids as it suited the Jenny character more, went with her selfish nature and how she was a user personality. I always thought it was surprising that she didn't pass on aids to Forrest or little Forrest

One of my favorite lines has always been when the older men are looking out the window and look at Forrest running by the window and Forrest has just said, "if I was going someplace...I WAS RUNNIN '! " because at the time I was a serious runner and loved running-just like Forrest!

I was surprised by Jenny dying from Hepatitis C but I have friends from that generation that have had Hep. C because of the former life they struggled with. Because of the time period she died the first thing that came to mind was AIDS.
I came to that conclusion as well. I was in high school when this movie came out and it just made sense because back then doctors really didn't know much about the HIV/AIDS virus yet. So it stands to reason when she tells Forrest that the doctors couldn't figure out what her "illness" was it must have been HIV/AIDS.
I met Haley Joel Osment about a year ago in the restaurant I work in..it was a slow Thursday day and he and his sister Emily and their mom came to eat at our place because too many people were disrupting their meal before they came from the restaurant before...they sat and after I took their order I asked him if he was in fact Haley Joel and he was so kind and humble...he and his mom told me what had happened at the other places so I didn't ask for an autograph nor would I let any of the other staff interrupt their meal...at the end I was tipped very graciously and told how nice it was to be able to enjoy a meal in peace together. Beautiful humble family...their mom is really kind as well.
Forrest Gump was a masterpiece. One of the best movies ever.
Think how much better it would have been with Chevy Chase, though.

Seen this movie plenty of times. I always thought Jenny died from AIDS considering there was a scene where she told Forrest she was sick and the doctors told her she had a virus they didn't know anything about. Then, she asked Forrest to marry her because she didn't know how much time she had left. Either way, it was sad. She died in 1982. I read that the producers were gonna make a sequel to Forrest Gump in 2001, but it was eventually shelved due to the 9/11 attacks. However there were also theories that she had Hepatitis C.
I always thought it was AIDS for the same reason but I guess the filmmaker wants to clarify that it wasn't because otherwise if you think about it, we could ask did she give Forrest AIDS? But that mysterious virus that the doctors don't know anything about is a dead giveaway (in the context of the era of the scene) that it was intended to be taken as AIDS.
How Forrest didn`t get Aids? He didn`t sleep with Jenney ever again?
@@jackprescott9652 There's no telling. Forrest and Jenny definitely did sleep together and that's how their son was conceived. But, we don't know for sure if they consummated their marriage on their wedding night. There was a scene where Jenny was too weak to get out of bed and Forrest made her breakfast. Shortly thereafter she died and Forrest had her old house torn down.

Not sure where you got your information, but all of the diseases you stated have been identified and named for a very long time.
@@mu8616 First cases of AIDS was reported in June of 81 it was five young gay men in LA they all died of pneumonia. I would guess that the only reason they even noticed it was because of the number of people and the young age. I would also guess AIDS was around a little bit before 81. She could have got it after she was with Forrest. This would also explain why her son didn't have it because at the time they didn't have the meds to prevent the baby from getting the virus, hell she could have got in the hospital after a blood transfusion while having the baby.
By far my most favorite, most watched and most memorable, most quoted movie of all time, in my lifetime.

When I saw the date of Jenny's death, March 22nd 1982, the first thing that came to my mind was that she died only three days after Randy Rhoads, Ozzy's guitarist that died in a plane crash.

@@leese.23 Just rewatched Forest Gump for like the 5th time: I laughed, I cried, I shrimped, etc. It's one of my favorites. But when reading the discourse of the movie most of the critisism is always with Jenny. Like everyone seems to genuinely think that 30 second Family Guy joke actually is what happens in the movie.
I think it just shows how a lot of people don't have experience or knowledge with sexual abuse victims. Jenny is portrayed fairly tragically and realistically.
There's a reason this part of her life is clearly pointed out as it's integral to her actions. He also knows Jenny doesn't love him the way he loves her. He literally calls her out for it and says he understands what love is regardless of what she thinks. He also seems to get that Jenny is dying of Aids (EDIT: It's never explicit what she has) and wants to marry him for the safety and care at the end. Having lived not far from the area they shot the movie in for about 6 years, it wasn’t a huge surprise to learn they used Fripp island to film the Vietnam scenes. Very similar sub tropical climate there.

I've loved this movie since it was in theatres, and now my young adult kids love it, too. It's a powerful movie on many levels, plus fun.
Just rewatched Forest Gump for like the 5th time: I laughed, I cried, I shrimped, etc. It's one of my favorites. But when reading the discourse of the movie most of the critisism is always with Jenny. Like everyone seems to genuinely think that 30 second Family Guy joke actually is what happens in the movie.
I think it just shows how a lot of people don't have experience or knowledge with sexual abuse victims. Jenny is portrayed fairly tragically and realistically.
There's a reason this part of her life is clearly pointed out as it's integral to her actions. I think the fact that was most surprising to me was that they used film of Lyndon Johnson from 1986. Truly amazing that Johnson was presenting the congressional medal of honour at that time despite not having been president for 18 years and have being dead for 13.

Got it right off the bat in the movie that it was AIDS. It was the most feared disease of the time she passed (that was represented in the movie), it was a death sentence. It was very sad and made sense.
I’m not surprised that they changed Jenny’s disease. I assumed Jenny had HIV/AIDS because it was still largely an unknown virus in the early 1980s, which is what I assumed to be the time frame that she was diagnosed. It was a huge deal and there were still a lot of unknowns around how it was transmitted, how to treat it, and how to prevent catching it which caused a lot of panic. (Sound familiar?) I remember people were afraid that it was transmittable by a simple touch or breathing the air that the patient was breathing. Princess Diana helped to destigmatize that myth by going to hospitals and publicly hugging AIDS patients. When the movie was released, there was still a lot of early research being done, and they were beginning to make some progress on finding some sort of cure. There was still a lot of stigma around the virus in the early/mid-1990s, too. Now-thankfully!-HIV is a manageable disease with proper care.
Nonetheless, whatever virus they had chosen to say Jenny was dying from could have potentially caused a wave of panic in the general population. There was a lot of worry about hepatitis variants at the time too, so I think it was smart to just leave the virus to be anonymous. It really doesn’t matter what disease she was dying from. The important matter to the story was that she died peacefully in a loving home, and her son had a gentle, caring father to raise him. That’s something she was looking for her entire life.

I had no idea it was filmed on Fripp island! The South Carolina coast is so lovely.
As a high school and college student in the late 80s and 90s, it was drilled into us that sharing needles and unprotected sex could lead to HIV. I don't recall as info about Hep C as being emphasized until much later. So I doubt the writers had it in mind as Jenny's cause of death when this was written.
I always thought it was a little odd that if Jenny died from aids, they had her bang Forest. I spent the whole ending of that movie like "Welp, Forest is gonna die."
AIDS is not easy to get from vaginally sex. IV drugs where you share needles and anal sex is MUCH riskier.
This movie was a great period correct masterpiece, which I have always enjoyed. Personally my first time ever watching Lt. Dan. I really didnt think, however, that he ever had a leg to stand on into becoming the great person he is now. Medical procedures have greatly improved and I am glad to see a Vietnam veteran turn his life around, and overcome such a tragic disability. He is a very good and humble man.

There are no such islands called "The Fripp Islands". It's just one island called Fripp Island. It's located on the South Carolina coast near Beaufort (where a lot of the filming was done), along with Harbor Island, Hunting Island and several more sea islands. The "Mississippi Bridge" that Forrest runs across is actually the bridge that connects Beaufort to Lady's Island.

IV drug use was common in HIV as well. But, most likely HBV. Hep B is very contagious and often fatal with out treatment. There could be a risk of transmission if a person with hepatitis C spills a drop of blood on a commonly used surface, such as a tabletop or door handle. More blood is likely to pose more risk of infection. So, yeah doesn’t have to be a used needle. To droplets. The risk for getting or transmitting HIV is very high if an HIV-negative person uses injection equipment that someone with HIV has used. This is because the needles, syringes, or other injection equipment may have blood in them, and blood can carry. Not buying the Hep C theory. Two you can also transfer both disease during sexual intercourse.
No matter how many times I watch the movie, I still HATE Jenny for using and treating Gump like SH%T!!!
You have to keep in mind that she was an abused child, a drug user and a free spirit. I don’t think her character knew what a gem Forest really was until the end.

But I also think people undermine Forest's intelligence more than he deserves and put all the onis on Jenny. Kind of like many people in the movie undermine his intelligence (fancy that...). Forest isn't stupid, he just treats and perceives situations in more simplistic and naive ways. A big factor of why he thinks he's stupid is that people keep telling him he is rather than his actions being stupid. He's a product of a time before we understood nuero divergent intelligence, yet still succeeds in spite of all that.
The man is a captivating storyteller, was an ideal soldier when things were explained in clear unambiguous ways, yet still knew to break rank to save his platoon in Vietnam, he understood everything that was happening in Vietnam and it's dangers, starting a shrimping business (how many of you could get a boat and start shrimping without TH-cam tutorials), didn't let the prostitute sleep with him bc he didn't like her or her breath, understood he was lying in an ad for money, also understands and sympathizes with Jenny's trauma (the not enough rocks line is very underrated imo), etc.
He also knows Jenny doesn't love him the way he loves her. He literally calls her out for it and says he understands what love is regardless of what she thinks. He also seems to get that Jenny is dying of Aids (EDIT: It's never explicit what she has) and wants to marry him for the safety and care at the end. Forest chooses this life with her because it makes him happy. I don't really see it as taking advantage of someone cognitively divergent, but two people choosing a situation that works for them.
I see it as two wayward souls in a world that doesn't understand how to see anyone not completely binary in their mind and abilities finding each other and living their best life at the end. It's not all perfect, Jenny is not a great person, but Forest is happy and successful. I think that matters.
Out of all the critiques on the movie (Jenny, Forest being too pure, coincidences, etc) the only ones that make sense to me now are how weirdly the movie is anti counter culture and pro traditional culture. That anyone can be successful if you pull yourself up by your bootstaps and all the liberals are angry abusive drains in society.
And the total belief in a Christian God. I mean damn, the movie implies God caused a storm to ruin the shrimping boats of a bunch of poor black shrimpers just so 2 white guys can become rich. Can't believe I didn't catch that until this viewing. Gump being so effortlessly successful gives unintended creedance to conservative values.
As much as I absolutely love this movie and it's one of the few 9 out of 10s in my head cannon, I still can't help but laugh to myself when I think a good tag line would be "Even the dumbest white guy has it easier than minorities and women in this country".
But I just blame that on the source material. I mean they fixed up so much from the book (don't read it, I promise you it's not worth it, there's a reason the film rights were sold before the book was published bc the central premise is literally the only good thing about it) it's not surprising some very unuanced anti left aspects stayed involved

Nonetheless, whatever virus they had chosen to say Jenny was dying from could have potentially caused a wave of panic in the general population. There was a lot of worry about hepatitis variants at the time too, so I think it was smart to just leave the virus to be anonymous. It really doesn’t matter what disease she was dying from. The important matter to the story was that she died peacefully in a loving home, and her son had a gentle, caring father to raise him. That’s something she was looking for her entire life.
I always wanted to know if Jenny’s son is really Forrest’s or if she just told him that because she knew he would be the best father she could find for the boy.
I've wondered too because if she really had AIDS how come he didn't get it too unless she contracted it after he was with him. Which is possible giving her lifestyle but she went downhill from the virus very fast, within a couple years.
I always assumed that she didn't know who the father was. She knew Forrest would take care of the kid and ask no questions. Otherwise, why would she wait six years to get in touch with him. If she hadn't gotten sick, she probably never would have gotten in touch with him.

Just rewatched Forest Gump for like the 5th time: I laughed, I cried, I shrimped, etc. It's one of my favorites. But when reading the discourse of the movie most of the critisism is always with Jenny. Like everyone seems to genuinely think that 30 second Family Guy joke actually is what happens in the movie.
I think it just shows how a lot of people don't have experience or knowledge with sexual abuse victims. Jenny is portrayed fairly tragically and realistically.
There's a reason this part of her life is clearly pointed out as it's integral to her actions. There are so many movies that have Jenny like characters without that background and the depth, but here when it's being done so accurately, is the time people get the most upset about it (probably bc Forest is so lovable everyone wants to protect him).
Yes she isn't the best person (I wouldn't judge Forest if he didn't want anything to do with her) but even watching now I see the internal struggle she always has regarding Forest. But his unconditional and relentless love is something hard to let go of for someone who's been through what she has, growing up in a time where she was unable to get the help from mental health experts she would need.
So she tries filling her life with sex, drugs, adventure, etc to keep her mind occupied. And being with all those abusive boyfriends is a very common action for someone who's suffered from abuse.
And critics ignore that Jenny seems aware of all this and does try to get away to let Forest live his life without her, that's part of why she keeps leaving. But codependent relationships are much more common and harder to leave without unbiased intervention than people think. And every time she sees Forest or gets too deep in her choices she runs back.
I think the perspective it just helps play into this subconscious heteronormative idea that women can be a succubus who will use men who love them and drain them of their love and money but not really care about them. Instead of seeing women as actual people with depth and complexity and especially ones who have been through what she has.
And they also ignore how the movie portrays her, breaking it down to small bits that obfuscate the complexities. If a woman isn't a completely altruistic character in a story then she is generally considered a bad person (look at how complicated bad men are treated by audiences in media vs women) and then going further with Jenny being more damaged than that makes her hated. I don't personally think a character has to always be the best person morally to be a great character.

But in Fitch he just had the way to make you feel as if the robot was a real person, totally different than talking to a volleyball to cope with being stranded. Wow. I watched it the first time in the movie theater in South Africa back in when it first came out. Besides Tom Hank, I didn't I knew any of those other actors and I really though Gary Sinise did not have legs. I had a hard time believing he does have legs and can walk...when I saw him the next time hah haa. I though Jenny died from cancer or aids. This movie sure had the best cast ! I've seen it so many times over the years and I still vividly remember how blown away & feeling like this was the best movie I have ever seen...when I walked out of that movie theater the first time. One source I found in a Google search stated Hep C was discovered in 1989. I just read below that Jenny died in 1982, so then doctors would not know it was Hep C--only non-Hep A, non-Hep B. I read the post below that said AIDS doesn't have a 100% transmission rate--I'll take that one at face value-- I really didn't know that; I didn't research /fact check it. But it does explain why Forrest never contracted it. And naturally, "it's in the script" that big Forrest had to be around to take care of little Forrest.

They called it non-A non-B but knew it was hepatitis. 15-40% of people who had it fought it off in 6 months and most likely did not have symptoms. In chronic hep C it takes 20 years for the liver to quit functioning. So Jenny’s docs would have known it was hepatitis so I have to believe she had AIDS.
I loved this movie Tom Hanks was wonderful in this movie so was Sally Fields I watch it every time it comes on
