    15:00 mark. If you’ve ever been in this position. Absolute classic

      We’ve all been there, and it’s always traumatising.

    That sensor at 4:43 is actually an engine speed sensor for Carb'd VK's, it sits on top of the trans bellhousing and butted upto the back of the engine.

      Cheers I figured it was a sensor for something. I knew it went into the trans as when I pulled it out I saw the hole at the top. Thank you for verifying what it is 👍🏻

    Great video mate! These old cars always throw a decent surprise and a good education for viewers to take on board. I remember driving a 5.0 VK Berlina as a new car, man I was in love! Keep the videos up, cheers.

      I can see why they have a following. They have grown on me since I’ve started working on them.
      I follow a restorer from NZ so I see a lot of what you guys have to deal with price and rust wise, It really is insane.

    The Aussie huntsman spider. Can grow as big as dinner plates. Completely silent in operation and will sneak up on you while working under the dashboard. Harmless but will still turn a 120 kilo Aussie into a quivering child like mess😂

      You get quite accustomed to them when you do what I do

      Silent? you can hear ever footstep when they walk on tin with the ones we have here. but the ones that scar me are the Big Redbacks, even the males.

    Well Damn it, I was looking forward to you saving that one. Hopefully the Silver one has a better chance. Cheers.

      It was a bit disheartening, it’s always good to put another back on the road. But in this one’s case it’s not going to happen. On the plus I can rob it for parts for the silver one.

    Crank is fully counterweighted so it's from a blue or black 202, VC onward. Weird about the engine number. Points distributor is not original.

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There you go learn something new everyday. The casting being ground off the side of the block and the engine number are definitely something. Even stranger that under all the blue paint it’s red. Distributor was one I had lying around. There was a vk est distributor that came with the car. So it was easier to fire on the ground with the points.

    Yeh that can be bought back to like brand new garrantee

    • @V8JakeC
      @V8JakeC  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right it can be. It only needs to be put on a chassis straightener, have the front half of the rail replaced, front floor replaced on passenger side, inner and outer sill replaced. And then deal with all the rust. Will I fix it? No

    Ever used a Needle scaler? On this pitted rust areas? If so I guess they no good, I know they are noisy

    • @V8JakeC

      I haven’t personally used one, but I have seen others use them. Unfortunately one is not too high on the priority list for me for tools. I get by with the method that I use. But in a perfect world it’d be nice to have one.
